Paul’s Foreign Auto Works

Let me first say that I think Paul comes across as a really nice guy and very personable on the phone.
I called him based on the Unilocal rating, but I should have looked closer to see that all the 5 star rating were for smaller type jobs on cars and I had a bigger issue. My car needed thousands of dollars in repairs caused by an accident.
My low rating is due to the following scenario.
My car was towed to a local tow yard after the accident and it needed to get to the repair shop. After being there for several days the charges totaled $ 1000 to get the car from the tow yard to Paul’s shop. Paul tells me that I need to pay the $ 1000 out of pocket and he kept telling me that I’ll be reimbursed right away from my insurance company.
I come to find out a few things 1) It’s not normal for the repair shop to make you pay for the tow and 2 I’ve still not been reimbursed.
So to me it comes across that Paul did not want to shell the money out himself and now he puts the burden back on the customer. To make matters even worse… He has to have someone else take my car because he was not able to work on that much damage!!!
I might go there for the smaller situations, but if it involves tow yards, insurance and the like… I’d find someone else

Paul is great in car knowledge and analyzing problems. He is also very accommodating and helped me shot the issue on my Subaru and provided tips for car care. The man who performed the repair on my car called John, who is a very talented mechanic. The price is reasonable and they are quick in analyzing and fixing problems.

I recently used Paul’s shop to help me with some complex problems with my 2001 BMW.
Paul was very friendly, and very helpful to debug the problem solve it and not spend a lot of money. He explained every step of the way very thoroughly, he took care of the work quickly, and even helped by dropping me off and picking me up at work.
I would highly recommend this shop for anyone who has a foreign car who needs some special help on the car.

Very happy with the service and repairs received at Paul’s Foreign Auto Works. After hearing a funny noise with my Mercedes R350, Paul and his team quickly diagnosed a need to repair the rear wheel bearing. They were happy to work around my schedule and even offered a ride home once I dropped off the car (which I didn’t need). They seemed very interested in making sure I was a satisfied customer. This was my first experience with Paul’s Foreign Auto Works and I’ll be certainly coming back with any future car issues!

Have been bringing my old lady Saab to them for about a year. They are fabulous and put up with me! Always fair and very accommodating. Its hard to find a trustworthy mechanic. They also do bodywork and the guy that does it I’d wonderful. I have not had body work but have seen plenty of before and afters… he’s anal about his work… a good thing. Even though I transferred hospitals I continue to go there! I gotta bake them something as a thank you for such fantastic service!

I found this «gem» today as I was urgently in need of a quick flat tire repair. I Unilocaled this place as I was in Newton Highlands and found it, which I never would have not using Unilocal.It’s not in street view but in the rear and in light of me being in a rush, the Owner did not take advantage of the situation. He asked his guy to tend to my flat tire and so he did. I was in and out in less than ten minutes. In addition, I needed a referral for a good transmission specialist for my truck, and he gave me the name of a guy he’s been working with for years. So it turned out that I killed 2 birds with one stone at this place. Paul is my new Mechanic from now on. He’s honest and didn’t jerk me around.

I found Paul on Unilocal based on a 5 star rating and popped in to see if he change out a headlight. Not only was the job done quickly but the service was friendly and professional. And they didn’t charge me for labor. Very pleased.

Great place to get your car fixed! I have 2006 range rover sport from Michigan, not until I found Paul’s the problems of the car never be fixed totally. They made it! They are honest and cool people. Very glad to find a place to fix my car in MA!

Friday at around 3:30, my father, who was coming to visit me from out of state, called from the road and said that his check engine light went on. He didn’t want to drive home hundreds of miles with the check engine light on, and asked me to find him a mechanic who could look at the car on a last minute basis.
I called around and ended up with Paul’s. They said to bring the car in Saturday morning and they’d look at it. We did and they looked at it and were even able to replace the part that had failed, all before they closed at noon.
I recommend them very highly.

Great people and honest. I have a 2005 Volvo XC70 that I have been bringing to them, much cheaper than the dealership. They use genuine Volvo parts and explain all work that is being done.
Had front pads and rotors put on and am going back to have the rear pads and rotors done.
Highly recommend these guys.

I have been a Mercedes E350 4matic driver for ever and have tried to find a reliable and trustworthy shop outside the dealerships and I have finally found the place. Paul’s is the best and most friendly place I have ever been. They know Mercedes and they are honest and reasonably priced. They explain everything very clearly and do the job quickly. If you are looking for a great experience look no further than Paul’s!

After light mileage (~30k), the A/​C on my wife’s Audi A3 decided to quit. Found Paul’s shop on the net, along with several positive reviews, so called him to discuss the problem. He was knowledgeable and patient on the phone, which are rare qualities these days in auto service. My wife took the car into him, and he quickly diagnosed a compressor leak (unlucky for me). Paul quoted me a reasonable price well under dealer estimates, but here’s the real reason why I’m writing this review.
Paul had already placed an overnight order for a replacement part, but I managed to find a technical service bulletin from Audi describing that the OEM compressors in my car tended to be defective. I called Paul and discussed how I wanted to get the dealer to pay for the repair. He understood the situation and graciously didn’t give me a hard time at all despite the inconvenience of cancelling his prior order.
Net result: I was able to get the compressor replacement parts paid for by Audi (despite being out of warranty), and saved a lot of money. Paul may not have gotten this job, but he has earned a customer because of his honesty and flexibility.

Paul’s is as good as I’ve ever found, and I’ve tried a vast number of car mechanics over the past 40 years in the greater Boston area.
He is a very knowledgable and sweet guy, and he employs 2 wonderful mechanics who have the same great qualities that he has. John and Andy are both expert, experienced, and nice (and patient) men.
I live right near them so they are kind enough to drive me home if necessary or deliver my car. If there’s a little thing they can help with, they’ll do it gratis.
Paul even answers his business phone at home, so he is quite easy to reach after hours.

I have been bringing my car to Paul for years, on the recommendation of my previous mechanic who left the Boston area. I have been impressed from the start. For a while I brought my car elsewhere because I’d moved, but always felt like I might have been being messed around — I’ve never felt that way with Paul so I started going back. Paul is very honest and is aware of his client’s financial situations — he has on several occasions helped me figure out which things need to be done right away and which things can be postponed if money is tight. One time I called to leave a message when the shop was closed, and Paul called me right back to make sure I wasn’t having a car emergency since I was calling off hours! Talk about service. Paul and his staff are the only people I trust with my car now.

Brought my Subaru here and found out that my transmission needed replacing/​fixing. Had to make a decision about fixing or selling the car. Paul helped us every step of the way and even offered to look over any potential new car we were buying. He was nothing but helpful, friendly and thoughtful and I am now a faithful customer!

These guys are cool. I had my AC recharged next door at Valvoline recently. Less than 24 hours later, AC stopped working suddenly, and they recommended Paul’s. They called Lexus for parts and fixed my AC a few days later-​it was a leaky gasket. They took my car back and had the AC recharged again (Valvoline had said that they would do this because of their own warranty). Now, a few weeks later, my AC decides that it only likes to work half of the time. I’m wondering if it’s a bad compressor. We’ll see. That car is on its way out anyway.
Also, they were able to pull my faulty power window back up (as it had stopped working) so the rain that’s been falling so much lately would stop leaking in. Thank you!

I have taken my 2000 VW Jetta to his shop on a number of occasions. I trust his work and feel he makes every opportunity to explain the repairs to the client.
I recommend Paul’s Foreign Auto Works especially to those who may be new to area and are looking for a trusted, reliable auto mechanic with a vast knowledge of foreign cars.
