I’ve been going here for a couple years now. I get an acrylic overlay on my nails because I like to have them long but I don’t like have plastic tips and then acrylic, personal preference. I am not the best customer as I am very picky and a perfectionist so(Annie) is the only one that I trust, who has done a great job and given me pretty much flawless long rounded/pointy nails every time. I like them as thin as I can without breaking two weeks in, they last me three weeks sometimes four. They are also priced well and honest with their charges(They don’t say $ 20 and add on a bunch of extra charges) * Pedicures here however I would rate(1 – 2) stars. I had one that was amazing and the rest were just basic and looked like I need one again the next day.

My coworkers and I have been going here for the last 3 years and have never had a bad experience at Golden Nails for pedicures. We love the staff, they always accommodate us and we just walk in(usually between 2 – 4 of us at a time) for pedicures and yeah it takes our full lunch hour but we are always pleased and keep coming back. Also, Andi(I think that’s her name) does the best eyebrows, I only had an issue once with another girl who didn’t do a great job on my friends eyebrows. We never let her touch any of ours again so really, if you need waxing have the owner do it! They are dirt cheap, the tubs are clean and our toes look fabulous!

I love this place. It’s really close to my college so the location is convenient for me. It was recommended to me by a friend. At first I was a bit hesitant from a couple of the Unilocal reviews here, but I gave it a shot and I’m glad I did. I came here on a Wednesday afternoon with a couple of friends. The interior is nice and the owner of the store(I think her name was Sandy) greeted me right away and told me to take a seat. The person doing my nails was very gentle with my hands and precise. They work very quickly too. After getting our nails done, we also all got pedicures. My friends and I ended up chatting our time away as the staff worked on our feet. The staff here are friendly and they will try to talk to you however if you’re with your friends and talking to them they won’t interrupt. While at the drying station, one of the staff came up to us and offered us bottles of water and even some Asian candy! All and all a good experience, I will definitely be coming back especially since their prices are so low(thank god for college discounts). It’s been 2 weeks and my nails have just started to chip so they last for quite awhile.

I’ve been going to Golden nails as a regular since it opened(about 2 yrs now). If it wasn’t so close to my house I would have probably stopped going there after the first time. Recently, I found a much better salon near my boyfriend’s apartment and I am happy to say I will never be back here again. Here’s why: 1. The salon is a mess. Things are unorganized, there is a lot of clutter, nail polish all over the fans and the drying stations, etc. The staff often leaves food and trash out. 2. NOPROFESSIONALISM. The staff will flat out lie to you about the wait time just to keep you in the door. They take appointments but NEVER honor them, so don’t bother making one because your spot will definitely be taken by a walk in if you are even 30 seconds late. The staff also makes a habit of answering their cell phones while working on your manicure, eating POTENT food the next desk away from customers who are getting their nails done(this has personally happened to me), and having loud angry screaming matches with each other in Vietnamese from across the salon. 3. The polishes and primers they use are watered down to save the salon money. I know that many places do this and it sucks but the staff at golden nails doesn’t care to hide it and usually pulls out thinning solution right in front of customers. I had this happen to me last time I went in for a manicure. I was not happy and thus will never be back. Pros: The prices are reasonable and some of the staff members are skilled. In addition, if you live in the area its located in the middle of needham st and very very very convenient. They also work really fast,(which is mainly because they want you to pay and get out ASAP). If you have a busy schedule you will appreciate this and it will be more of a pro then a con.

Yikes. I got my manicure and it smudged 10 minutes later. $ 12 for a manicure … not bad, but it won’t last.

I am a regular here and would recommend this place for nails. It’s an 8 minute drive for me and probably one of the best nail salons in the area, which is why I keep coming back. The quality of my manicures and pedicures is impeccable, the salon is clean and orderly, the price is right, they take credit cards, and there’s plenty of parking. On the downside, the waxing services leave a lot to be desired(I tried them once when I didn’t have time to get to my regular waxer, and was rather disapointed with the end result). The ladies, while nice, always talk amongst themselves in their language — I have no way of knowing if they are talking about me, and this seems to be the standard at a vast majority of nail salons I’ve been to, regardless of location. Heck, if they are, I mostly don’t care and it’s easy enough to tune out. I come here for manicures and pedicures and they’ve done a great job with that. I brought my husband with me as well a couple times because I see men here on occasion, and he was pleased with his pedicure as well.

I have been going to this salon for about a year. Today, I made an apt for 3:45. I am always there on time and usually have to wait about 15 minutes to be seen. That’s understandable and I just relax and read a magazine. This time, I was seen at 4, and I get a gel fill. The woman who I have been going to started working on my nails and since it was saturday, was telling people who havent made appointments and were just walking in to see if they could get mani/pedis that it would be about a 10 min wait. She said to me she forgot to warm up the gel she needed to apply to my nails, and that we would resume in about 5 minutes, I said«alright». She went over to another station and did someone else’s nails, which took about 15 min. That was okay because although I had somewhere to be later on that night, I was still doing ok on time. Every so often(like when I had my hands under the UV lights) she would run over to someone else, doing little things, like filling up the pedicure bases with warm water, or put bath salts in there. Again-that’s fine, because I had to wait until my nails were done cooking so to speak. The thing that I didn’t like was when she told me to go dry my nails and took another whole customer from start to finish. I understand walk-ins are welcome, but what about the people who made appointments? I felt bad too because there was an elderly woman there waiting to get her nails done. They told her it would be 10 minutes, and she ended up waiting 20 – 25 minutes. If I wasn’t in a rush I would have told my nail tech to help her first because while she was waiting she kept saying to them that she cant stay for much longer because her eyesight is bad at night and it was getting dark. They brushed it off and kept her waiting. I understand that they want as much business as they possibly can, but come on, making people get frustrated when they’ve been waiting almost 30 minutres for an appointment they were told would happen in 10? I think I will get them done elsewhere.

I’ve lived in Newton for 3 years and have been to a good amount of the nail salons in town. This has been the best one I’ve been to yet and continue to go. Also, added bonus, they have waxing which some other locations do not. Prices are Newton average, mani/french pedi was $ 43 last time I went.

I’ve had fantastic experiences at Golden Nails! I’ve been 3 times and each time has been perfect. Their prices are fantastic — $ 26 for a pedicure and I think approx $ 12 for a manicure. I had a french manicure here that was the best looking french manicure I’ve ever had. I’ve never had to wait longer than 2 minutes and the quality of the services for the price is outstanding! I live about 15 minutes away and probably pass at least 10 other nail places on the way here, but Golden Nails is worth it!

Golden Nail is pretty new– only a few months old– but they are settling in nicely to the location and are a welcome addition to Needham Street. I went in for a walk-in pedicure. They appeared to be busy but managed to seat me within a few minutes. The woman who did my pedicure was very friendly, and someone(I believe it was the owner) brought me a bottle of water without me asking for one. The second he handed it to me I realized I was thirsty. Perhaps he could read my mind before I could. I usually do my own pedicures and only get a professional one once or twice a year, but at $ 26 a pop, I may have found the perfect treat.
