Just an update since a user messaged me and made a good point: this post did not discuss the cost of labor. In this case, the labor cost here would have been insignificant, since the solution took about 2 minutes to implement. I realize that it’s not easy running a dealership and that every penny counts (just like in any household), but in this particular case the dealership representative simply did not listen to the alternative solution and tried to get the maximum income.

Hey Ryan from service. Your customer service skills stink! I was gonna buy a Jeep from Baystate formerly Clark and White since i live next door. But after i got screwed by service a few months ago, i went to Central in Norwood. Not that i am expecting any better treatment from them either.

if i could give them a negative zero, i would!!! this is the worst service department that i have ever dealt with in my life. i went in for a simple oil change yesterday afternoon. my car was ready to be picked up in a speedy half hour. upon returning to pick up my car, i was told that i needed about four hundred dollars worth of repairs that were not even needed! before leaving the lot i looked under the hood to make sure that i had in fact received a new oil filter. to my surprise there was loose oil all around the underside of my car and the oil cap was not capped!!! not only was it not capped, but it was wedged between the underside of my hood!!! after laying into the mechanic who worked on my car, all he had to say for himself was accidents happen especially when we try to do oil changes in under a half an hour. they obviously should consider putting a lot more time and effort into their work so that customers don’t run the risk of seized engines!!! i am now going to my regular mechanic tomorrow to make sure that i am not missing anything else and my car hasn’t been mistreated or !@#$%& with in any other way!!! this service department is so wack, they can’t even complete the simple task of an oil change without remembering to cap the oil tank!!! i hope that you read this before even considering taking your vehicle to this service department!!!

I came here to get something fixed on my Jeep that’s covered under warranty. The warranty covers everything besides tires and brake pads. The service manager, who wasn’t very nice, claimed that I’d be charged to have the problem fixed. So I went to another dealership and they took care of the issue without hesitation. If you enjoy service with a bad attitude then this Jeep dealer is for you.

I wish there was a zero rating.
Service is just insane. Amazing how they stay in business. I’ve been in there about 5 times with my 2010 jeep and every single time it just takes forever to get anything done. They don’t offer any loaners, so be prepared to wait or bother one of your friends or family to drop a car off. My last maintanence service they states that my rear brakes were a hazard on the road and needed to be replaced immediately for the tune of 299.99. I told them that I would do them myself at that price. When I got the wheels off at my house. I noticed about 60% of my pads were still left. This is what they called «a hazard on the road». There are no vibrations and absolutely no need to replace the pads. A complete waste of money it would have been. We are all in a recession and they are just looking for ways to make more money. I spoke with my cousin which has been a chrysler mechaic for over 20yrs and even he states that Clark and White are known to be crooks. No doubt. I would never purchase a car from there and I would never recommend anyone wasting their time or money at that place.

Bad service experience.
We have a strange clunking sound that appears to be coming from our gas tank — you can hear it swishing around in there in the gas, sometimes it happens when the car is completely still AFTER coming to a stop, sometimes when you are beginning to move forward– I know you don’t need to know the ins and outs of my problem but the point is, any buffoon could tell you it is NOT the breaks. Since we couldn’t diagnose this mysterious sound ourselves, we took it in to the «experts» so that we could get it fixed. Long story short, they charged us $ 50 to tell us absolutely nothing. They insisted the only sound they could hear was the rear breaks, and when we asked them to take another listen they offered to let us take a road drive with their diagnostics team before 5pm. For those of us who work 9 – 5 this isn’t possible– Hardly an option! So we ended up paying $ 50 for what we knew to be a misdiagnosis.
To top it all off, the next day I came to pick up my car 10 minutes before the service shop officially closed and the place was shut down– lights off, door locked. I went in through the showroom and someone found a service person as she was on her way out the door — she rebooted the computer and let me pay (thank god after an hour walking/​taking the bus to get to the place, I could drive home) — but mind you this is after I called earlier in the day to make sure they were open to 6 and mentioned I’d be there just before closing. As I was paying the lady said something like, «We just figured you weren’t coming! Sometimes at the end of the day we get out a little early. «Well that must be nice! To top it all off I found a candy bar wrapper in my cup holder. Spending the day eating candy bars in people’s cars must really wear you out to the point where you need to close up shop early. hmph.

We had a good experience with the service department. Gino was a great help to us. He was very friendly and conscientious when providing service for our Jeep. I would definitely return to have our Jeep serviced.

Recently tried to purchase a new vehicle from them. They were very helpful and I thought it was going to be a smooth transaction. I tried to arrange a time to sign for the vehicle, and was lied to 3 different times during a 3 day period. They finally told me the vehicle had not arrived fromt he factory yet. I waited 2 weeks for it to come in (not their fault I know, but dont try and sell me a car that you dont have yet). Finally when it came in and I went to sign the papers, they told me they could not do the original deal we negotiated. Turns out they could get out of the deal because of the incomplete paperwork we originally signed. They are very unprofessional, and I do not recomend them.

Clark & White Jeep seems pretty mediocre to me. I stopped by the dealership for the first time last week after seeing a price on a particular vehicle on their web site and it caught my interest. The salesman who helped me was friendly and relaxed even though it was right before the dealership closed for the evening. I read automotive news and blogs everyday and I made sure to prove this knowledge just in case. We talked about the state of the brand and model while I peeked around the vehicle and we then went for a test drive.
That was all fine and nice, but nothing ever materialized unfortunately. I made it very clear from the beginning that I had no particular need for a new car and would only seriously consider a purchase if the terms were worthwhile and that I wouldn’t be interested in anything above the abovementioned internet price I’d seen. Sadly, I was given a few eyebrow-​raising excuses and was told that the price I could get on the car was $ 2,000 higher. I politely declined.
To sum up my impression with sales at this dealership, I’d say they’re helpful and friendly enough but I wouldn’t give any indication to being in need.
EDIT: Since my initial review, my experience with Clark & White has drawn out seemingly to its conclusion. I’ve adjusted my rating from 2 stars to 3. The service I’ve received has been ample, the salesman was willing to work with me and contacted me in a timely manner. I didn’t feel overly pressured.
My final conclusion on this dealership is pretty much straight down the middle, nothing to rave about but no strong warnings either. If they’re in your area, you might as well give them a fair chance.

Just needed to add another shout out to Dave and the service department team. They are currently replacing my ball joints and wheel bearings and have promised a speedy 24 hr turnover (YAY for getting my car back soon!!). Within an hour of dropping off my beloved Mountaineer, Dave called to ask me to come in so that he could walk me through the problems, let me see and touch and feel the problems, and then explain to me in person and as gently as possible the $ 2000 worth of repairs I was in for. They have called a few times since yesterday afternoon to give me updates on how things are going and when they will be done. No one likes to spend $ 2000 at the repair shop, but they have made the experience as pleasant and painless as humanly possible and I trust my car is getting expert service.

DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR TO THIS PLACE. THEY ARE DISHONEST CROOKS! LEARN FROM MY $ 2,000 DISASTER!
I decided to write a review on Clark and White because my experience there a little under a year ago was so awful that I often wake up thinking about how horrible this company is and whether justice will ever be done. I took in my Jeep Cherokee to fix a problem with my air conditioning because my mechanic recommended I have the dealership look at it. When I took the car to Clark and White, they said they could fix the air conditioning for around $ 300, but that the car desperately needed around $ 3,000 of other repairs. I was very reluctant to do these, because I was a student and the car was probably only worth $ 5,000 or so. But since I had to drive across county for a job in a few weeks and did not have the time to buy a new car, I agreed to around $ 2,000 in repairs, including a new e-​brake, u-​joints, the a/​c, and replacing some of the wiring. Half a week after dropping off my car, I came to the dealership, did a look over and found that the a/​c was working. The dealership told me however that I had failed the smog check and that I would need additional repairs. They put a bright Massachussetts «failed» sticker on my windsheild, even though my car was licensed and registered in California and I never asked for a smog check. I explained that I would not need the repairs because I was leaving the state and paid the $ 2,000 for the other repairs. Later that day, to my horror, I discovered that the e-​brake still did not work, even though I had paid for the repair. I took it back to Clark & White, but they said I would have to pay an additional $ 600 if I wanted it fixed– even though it was on my invoice and I had paid for it! I can detect no difference in driving or gas mileage from the u-​joints or wiring that was replaced, so I have no idea what benefit those repairs, if they were actually performed, did for me. And just today, I got my scheduled smog check in California and discovered that the car completely met CA emission standards, which are higher than Massachussets’. I can only assume that Clark & White dummied a false emissions test to generate even more additional charges.
Once again, I am writing this to warn ANYBODY who is considering servicing their car at this establishment. These people are running a racket. They are dishonest THIEVES preying on people who just want their car to run smoothly. Do not trust them!

My salesman was awesome and personable during sales and I think I got a ‘fair’ deal.
However, things just went downhill after I signed the paperwork.
Delivery was late AND the person who completed my second set of paperwork was pissed off (had a bad day I guess). That’s OK, but then proceeded to make a mistake on the sale price and I had to argue that he did. When he admitted to it, no humility was shown whatsoever.
All in all, it was alright but my last auto purchase (bmw from herb chambers bmw of boston) was just 3 stars more pleasant.

I had the worst experience with Clark & White when they REFUSED to accept a Jeep lease return as required by contract. They said their «lot was too full» to accept cars back and proceeded to harass my agent who attempted to return the car d never accepted it. They also hung up on me TWICE while trying to reach a solution to avoid at least 2 people driving 2+hours round-​trip to return the Jeep to an «alernate» dealership in central Mass. I have NEVER encountered a company as RUDE as they were to CUSTOMER. NEVER AGAIN!!! I WOULD HIGHLY ADVISE AVOIDING THEM AT ALL COSTS IF I WERE IN THE MARKET FOR ONE OF THE CARS THEY SELL OR LEASE! DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THEM. I GUARANTEE YOU WILL REGRET IT WHEN IT’S ALL SAID AND DONE.
