Andrea Stern nearly killed me as a child by slowly poisoning me over time with large amounts of psychiatric medication. After meeting with me for less than 5 minutes during our first session years ago, she hubristically and incorrectly diagnosed me as requiring drugs based almost completely on statements from my abusive parents and my school.
Between the ages of 10 and 18, Dr. Stern put me on gratuitous amounts of mood stabalizers, far beyond what the medical profession sees as acceptable to give a child or adolescent. The medicine did little to help my psychological stability, only worsening my emotional states while causing me to gain upwards of 340 pounds. Dr. Stern prescribed the medicine with cold, methodological rhetoric and no visible sense of empathy for my plight.
Only since I disobeyed her orders and threw the drugs down the sink was I able to lost half my body weight (I do weigh 160 now) and start the process of learning to function as a human being. But Dr. Stern’s criminally negligent practice stifled my development for years and I still must deal with the aftereffects of her treatment to this day.
This person should have her medical license revoked. I can’t recommend enough that you avoid her services at all costs.

I have been seeing Dr. Stern for 6 years. She handles all my issues with a gentle yet professional manner and a smile. Her clinic day at Charles River is Thursday evening. She works under clinical psychologist Dr. Bruce Mermelstein, Ed.D., who is the president of Comprehensive Outpatient Services, Inc., and director of Charles River. Each site has a different director. He is also my current therapist and is top-​notch. All the sites have an after hours, on call answering service for emergencies. The hours at all sites are Monday-​Thursday 8AM-​8PM and Friday 8AM-​5PM. The service can be reached by calling the number of the respective clinic.
