THEYHAVETHEBESTBLACKBEANPASTAHERE(JAJANGMYUNG). I cant tell you how many black bean pastas I’ve tried. Both in Portland and in NYC. Still this place is my favorite. Something about it makes it really delicious.

While I’m not a huge fan of Chinese food mostly because it’s usually too greasy for my taste, I was pleasantly surprised with Kum-yon’s food. Everything we ordered tasted fresh and was seasoned perfectly. The portions were generous and the service was wonderful! I know I’ll definitely be back here in the future.

Came back for a second try and left very satisfied(not overly stuffed). Ordered two lunch specials of shrimp and veggie tempura each with a California roll. The tempura is perfection and we highly recommend it. The California roll is fresh and soft… And delicious… Just wish their rolls were a bit bigger! We also ordered a spicy tuna roll to sample. I’m salivating at the mere thought of it! It is topped with a spicy sauce to live for. We had the same server as last time — attentive and prompt without interfering unnecessarily with our conversation. I forgot to mention that the lunch comes with egg flower soup(which is a tasty chunky variation with shredded bits of chicken) and pork fried rice(which we take home for the munchkin that devours every last grain and morsel).

Stopped by here on a whim on our way through Newport. Delicious fresh food at a great price with great service. We got the appetizer plate and the special dinner, me with Mongolian beef an orange chicken, my wife with Mar far chicken and the shrimp lo mein. Although the lo mein was just OK, everything else was fantastic. Definitely recommend. Unique but fantastic hot and sour soup too!

My wife and I are eating it right now. It is just down the street from our hotel. Good portions, yummy, not very expensive. Clean, not many people(it is Wednesday though). Very friendly staff

Sweet and sour soup tempura and the California roll was good. The other items that we ordered fried rice, General Toa’s chicken, and almond chicken tastes like they came prepackaged and frozen. Westernized Chinese. The service however was great, and super fast service.

This place was great! The people were very friendly and had wonderful service, my water glass was never below the half way mark(and i drink LOTS of water). The lady also played piano while we enjoyed our meal, which added a nice touch. The food was pretty tasty as well. Will come here again if we’re ever passing through Newport.

Have been eating here for over 25 yrs and they treat me and my family like their extended family. The best Hot & Sour Soup you’ll ever have and the House Salad is Yummy. When the Grandkids come to visit KUMYONS is on top of their list of things to do.

I went there a couple weeks ago with my mom and step-dad and I have to say it wasn’t the best. The service was okay, but there was no extra napkins at the table? It made my mom feel sick and all in all wasn’t the best restaurant I’ve been to. My step dad said the orange chicken didn’t taste right and that the shrimp was really, really bland. I don’t know if that will be a choice anytime soon. It used to be pretty good but now, not so much.

I’ve been eating here regularly for the last 8 years and I’ve never had a bad meal. Their hot & sour soup is the best in Newport. My favorite is the Bulgoki.

This review is way overdue. We have been bringing our kids here for years. The family dinners are very diverse, and include so much – appetizers down to the fortune cookie. The soups, both sweet and sour and eggdrop are very good. The orange chicken is the best I have ever had, the lemon chicken is amazing. I love the almond chicken as well. The matching restaurant in Coos Bay is also good, as far as the food goes, but their prices are pretty crazy.

Let’s be honest, this place isn’t a super high class fancy place or anything. But if you’re just looking for good, cheap food this is a great place to check out. My favorite thing to get here is the Pork Chow Mein with no vegetables but the sweet and sour chicken and BBQ pork are really good too. They also do takeout(of course) so it’s a great place to just stop and pick up lunch real quick too.

As an Asian anytime I encounter an all-in-one type of «Oriental» restaurant(who still calls their restaurant an oriental restaurant anyways?), my guard immediately goes up. They offer Chinese, Japanese, as well as Korean dishes. Ever heard the phrase«Jack of all trades, master of none»? Obviously this place hasn’t. Somehow apparently they are an award winning restaurant. I highly doubt that, or perhaps it’s simply because there really aren’t that many«Oriental» restaurants around the area? The food I found quite unimpressive. Their dishes all seem to be very westernized. California Rolls, Egg Foo Young, Chop Suey might as well be on there.
