Awesome i always get a greek salad and roast beef sub. Been eating here for years. Everything I’ve tried is good and you get alot for your money. You can split a sub easy with someone they are huge. Theres normally not a long wait.

Fantastic Italian restaurant, very affordable. If you are a CNU student, they have a 15% discount. I had the lasagna, very cheesy with a lot of meat in the layers. Will definitely eat here again.

Not even remotely close to being Italian. Slice of Mozzarella cheese on the pasta? Marinara sauce was bland. Took forever to get the meal. $ 90’s later and walked out unsatisfied!

Ok, I know I have said that I have found the best Italian food at other restaurants I have visited, but I am sorry, Joe & Mimma’s in Newport News was outstanding. Where do I begin? First, their garlic knots are yummy. If you do not like too much garlic, then you will love their knots. I am a big garlic fan, but they were still delish. I ordered their spaghetti with olive oil and garlic. OMG! It was so flavorful and each bite had enough garlic that I just about died and went to Heaven. For dessert, I ordered their cannoli. I about teared up for it was as close to home(Brooklyn, NY) as it can get in Virginia! A few weeks later, we decided to order their pizza and we were not disappointed to say the least. Again, it was as close to NY that I have found so far. From what I was told, their chef is the same one who was the chef at Luigi’s. If that is true, then I can see why their food is outstanding. Go if you can for either lunch or dinner. It is not a fancy place, but what they lack in décor, they make up for it with their menu.

I love this place! Had their baked Ziti it was so CHEESEY. Their special combo was great too. Wine choice was decent. And price was decent as well I seriously recommend everyone to try the baked ziti. I get it every time. Chicken Parmesan was ok.

My husband and I are new to the area and were looking for a good pizza place, and stopped here because I had an appointment just down the road. Our server, Maurizio, was friendly and helpful. The pizza was awesome! I am looking forward to going back and trying some of the other items on the menu! An added bonus was they had a 10% military discount.

Joe & Mimas have been around for a long time and their food has always been top notch to me. I use to work there and the staff and food has always been good. It’s a very clean establishment. You can’t go wrong ordering anything here. The subs are superb. Their homemade dressing is the best. And I really love their garlic knots with their marinara sauce. Nothing here is from a can or package. its good food!

I love this place. We try to eat there at least once a month. The best White Pizza in town as well. Warm atmosphere and excellent service as well. I highly recommend checking out the special of the day before making a order.

Great service! Just okay food and tends to be on the pricier side. Nothing spectacular here, just a quaint homey spot for old farts. I mean what? Great garlic knots and super cheesey pizzas!

We order pizza from here just about every other week. So far it’s the best we’ve found on the peninsula in the two years we’ve lived here. I’m from Jersey so I’m picky about my pizza. The restaurant has a relaxed atmosphere and is great for lunch or a family night out dinner. Reminds me of the places at home. a decent family Italian restaurant. Hate to say, but I can’t comment too much on the rest of the menu because I’m stuck on the pizza :)

Joe & Mimma’s serves Italian lunch and dinner in Newport News. It’s fairly straightforward as far as an Italian place goes. It doesn’t aim to be fancy or upscale, but rather manages to catch the right level of medium-end dining. You can go there for dinner, and you’ll be pleased with what you get, especially when you get the check and realize how affordable the place is. Or you can go there for lunch and pick up a sub or a salad and be happy with that as well. That’s important, and they hit this target perfectly. The staff is nice and friendly, and they certainly treat their regulars well. I usually get an Italian sub for lunch, or I do spaghetti and meatballs for dinner. However, avoid the calamari – it’s always overcooked, rubbery, and fishy. Other than that, I recommend the place.

This used to be a favorite of my family but after tonight I doubt I go back. The staff was rude, and the food almost inedible. We ordered garlic knots and they were burned and had no garlic flavor. Our entrees took forever and my was so gross, that sauce looked like dirty dish water. If this were my first time I would never go back. I would recommend Vinny’s down the road– so much better.
