Dr. Vince Afsahi is an Orange County native who attended UC Irvine for his undergraduate work before obtaining his M.D. at the University of Southern California, where he also completed his dermatology residency program.

A board certified dermatologist, Dr. Afsahi has two practice locations with the South Coast Dermatology Institute, and also serves as a clinical assistant professor of dermatology at USC. He specializes in laser-​based dermatology procedures for acne, rosacea, and facial rejuvenation.

Dr. Afsahi is seriously the best dermatologist around! He runs South Coast Dermatology and has two offices one here in Newport and another in Tustin. I visit both of his offices depending on what I am having done, his Tustin office has the more heavy duty lasers and what not.
Dr. Afsahi has helped me with multiple dermatology related issues and I am alway amazed at how knowledgeable he is. I can show him something and he instantly can tell me what it is and gets very technical, the man knows his stuff! What I really appreciate about Dr. Afsahi is that he never tries to sell you on something he doesn’t believe will actually work for you. He is so honest, it would be easy for him to sell me on all kinds of cosmetic treatments but instead he flat out tells you that you don’t needs this or that would be a waste. He also is so friendly and remembers personal little details about your life that you mention in passing and asks you about them later on at future appointments. He really is a fantastic person and our family trusts him.
He has also been doing laser treatments on my mother’s face and it has had an incredible impact. She looks seriously younger, less tired, and glowy!

How could I have not reviewed Dr. Vince Afsahi’s Dermatological Office? I saw him in 2011 and thought I had reviewed him. He’s great. He’s nice, he takes a careful look at your skin and diagnoses correctly. I saw another dermatologist in a different city and I feel Dr. Afsahi took a better look at my skin before diagnosing.
Those extra seconds helped a lot. He gave me some samples so I could make sure the topical creams would work before buying the full prescription. He was good at answering questions. The Doctor asked me about my current skin care routine and offered his opinions on the products I was using. He was able to suggest a better routine and wrote down instructions on how to use the topical creams he was prescribing me.
I would go back, but my insurance has changed. (Dr. Afsahi’s office only took PPO Insurance when I visited in 2011). The condition and appearance of my skin has improved. My adult acne is almost a thing of the past.
I still get the occasional pimple every now and then when I don’t follow his instructions, but that’s on me. Blueberries and walnuts feature more prominently in my diet as those two foods help skin look better. My visit was definitely worth the money spent. I am now armed with a lot of useful information about my skin.

I’ve been going to see Dr. Afsahi for a few years now, primarily at the Newport location, and have never had an experience short of deserving an A+. He, along with his staff, are incredibly friendly, helpful, and professional. I’ve visited a handful of other dermatologists since moving from OC to LA but have found that the treatment at Dr. Afsahi’s practice is well worth the drive. The rapport that he and his staff have with patients has been unparalleled in my experience with other derms. Always attentive, engaging, and kind.
Just finished up an appointment at the Newport office and figured that I ought to put the word out since I’ve been seeing him for some time now. Would definitely recommend.

Dr. Afshai was referred to me from a co-​worker. He’s great! He’s patient and takes his time. I was very nervous to have a mole removed and he was comforting. I plan to see him for any other dermatology needs.

I’ve been to Dr. Afsahi, 3 times now, since my skin is going crazy on me and I seem to have developed adult acne and Dr. A is amazing. He’s so attentive, I never feel rushed with him and he genuinely cares about you as a patient and wants you to be happy.
He’s by far one of the best Dr’s I’ve been to. He even did a shot on 5 very weird cystic type of pimples I had and already one day later, it’s made a huge difference.
You will not regret the time with him.

My family (me, wife, kids) has been going to Dr. Afsahi since the early 2000s. He is absolutely excellent. First, he determines what a rash/​bump/​etc is the *first* time he looks at it (and with several kids, we’ve come in with all sorts of strange things), which is I think what distinguishes a top dermatologist. Second, the various procedures he’s done (mostly removals in our case), he’s done precisely and with no problems afterwards. And third, he’s down-​to-​earth and friendly, takes the time to answer questions. We took an older relative in too, and he was exceptionally friendly, and explained things in an understandable way for her too.
My general physician referred me to Dr. Afsahi for a prodedure years ago, telling me that I’d be driving farther but that this guy was the best — and I believe he was absolutely right.

Dr. Afsahi is very understanding, patient and knowledgeable. He isn’t a drug pusher like other dermatologists — Completely opposite of my old derm Dr. Effron in Anaheim, Hills. Dr. Afsahi genuinely wants to see your skin improve and will give you the tools you need to see the results you want. Dr. Vince Afsahi is 5 STARS! I have been to both of his offices (Tustin & Newport) and I have to say that I would drive even further and even out of state (I live in the South Bay.) to see Dr. Afsahi. He is extremely professional and really takes as much time as the patient needs to get all questions answered. There is no question to small or too silly. Further, I never feel like he has to rush out and see someone else. You can completely rely on him for all of your dermatologic needs. The drive to see Dr. Afashi is worth it!

Dr. Vince Afsahi has been my dermatologist now for over 3 years and has always been nothing but professional and a great resource. He always takes the time to discuss my issues and explains how I can prevent them vs. having other doctors in the past just come in and glaze over when I’m explaining my symptoms, write a generic prescription, and call it a day. If you are looking for a dermatologist in the orange county/​Newport area that you can trust and develop a great relationship with then you should definitely make an appointment with him. Good luck!

Dr. Afsahi is 3 stars, A-​OK (in comparison to my a dermatologist in SF who I am really trying to find an equivalent of in Orange County). He is nice and takes his time with you but I didn’t feel like he was the easiest to talk to. The staff is 1 star. They are not very friendly at all. At my first visit they barely said a word to me, which is fine. But at my second visit, I walked in to the front desk and stood there while two of them were carrying on a personal conversation and didn’t even acknowledge me. I walked over to the other window to sign myself in and when I looked over at them in search of a pen, they were still carrying on their whispered conversation. I had to pull out a pen from my purse to sign in and then I took a seat to wait for what was about 50 minutes past my appointment time. Lastly, when I was paying my co-​pay to the lady at the front desk, she was staring at her phone in one hand with her other hand reaching out aimlessly to take my credit card.
