It made me extremely uncomfortable that his office is a hoader’s paradise. Junk floor to ceiling. I have mild OCD and this office gave me serious anxiety. I can’t take a doctor seriously who can’t even present his office in a professional manner. I can’t imagine why a doctor who may treat people with extreme OCD or even hoarding would have an office like this! I don’t even feel like he was listening to me because he was so distracted by the piles of paper on his desk under which I saw my paperwork get placed and then another random stack put on top of that. I didn’t feel he was understanding or respectful to my needs as a patient. Needless to say I am not coming back.

Dr. Hockenbury is an excellent psychiatrist. My husband, Brian, and I have been his patients for 12 years. We receive a balance of medicine management and psychotherapy. He is very knowledgeable about medicines and juggling them for maximum effect. Dr. Hockenbury treats us with respect and friendliness.

Professional medical care is the most important services I pay for. It is critical that the medical care is worth it. I have been a patient of Dr. Hockenbury for about 10 years. I would recommend and refer anyone in need of his services because 1) he truly CARES about my health and wellness, and 2) he is relentless in finding a solution that works. His staff is a pleasure to deal with and Dr. Hockenbury is knowledgeable, humble and gracious.

Just an update since my original review: Dr. Hockenbury has recently moved from his Laguna Hills office to a new one in Newport Beach. I erred in my original review when I referred to him having a «boss», who it turns out was merely his landlord(providing common staff and services) for an office of several mental health professionals. So now Dr. Hockenbury is fully independent.
