Wow! What salon service! Such an amazing group of people that work here! Rita is the best colorist and fixed a disaster (from another salon) of a situation. You can say that I will be coming for a very long time!

Rita works her magic every time on my hair! Absolutely love everything she does! She always has great suggestions and tips.

I was referred to this salon by a friend YEARS ago and I’ve been hooked ever since! Everyone that works here is super rad and always very helpful! I get my hair done by Nikki who is AWESOME with color! I’ve always been afraid to do certain things to my hair in fear of how it will turn out! I finally had her try an ombré on me and she nailed it! I couldn’t be more stoked on how my hair has turned out and love that she always makes sure I leave happy! I highly recommend her! Thanks again for my amazing cut and color Nikki! ;)

I found this little gem through Unilocal and I want to give back! It’s been over two years now and I’m really happy with the service and look I get from Salon 359.
Previously I had been w /​the same stylist for 14 years in SF. She introduced me to Goldwell hair color from Germany and it gives the absolute best color to my hair. There was a review of Salon 359 which mentioned Goldwell, so I made my first appointment.
I see Melissa, one of the owners, every 8-​weeks for color and cut. I have long medium/​dark blond hair which I highlight with just color (no bleach) using Goldwell for a very natural look. I also have a fun bright-​pink strip in my hair (not so natural) which Melissa also freshens up using Goldwell.
The color comes out great throughout my head, especially in the front where when I have had a problem of another stylist (temp in OC before I found Melissa) not using enough foils and telling me we needed to break the root w/​additional color, which turns out is not necessary.
Melissa also gives a great cut and does a good job with layering my thick hair, but not in an overly layered look!
She’s very good at listening and helping to find a solution for what I’m wanting. Sometimes it is not always easy to vocalize so it is good if someone can sort of guide me from time to time.
Melissa is a true professional, excellent in her craft and service of the client.
Should I mention good location and easy parking?

Actually found out about this salon on Instagram. My friend had her hair done by Jason and I loved! I have been here 3 times and Jason has worked magic, I didn’t think it could get better but ever time I get it done I love it even more! I went from a brunette with streaky highlights to and all over golden blonde. Mind you he did that without damaging my hair! I couldn’t imagine going anywhere else!

So, it has taken me 3 long years to write a review for one of my favorite places to visit, Salon 359. I moved from a Lake Tahoe and my hair stylist there suggested I try Salon 359 as well as her friend/​hair stylist Nikki Williams. I so look forward to seeing Nikki every 6 – 7 weeks. She cuts and styles my hair so nicely. I’ve NEVER had a bad cut. She always asks for my input on color/​high lights. The color changes with the seasons. It’s not dramatic because I’m too chicken to do something drastic but every once in a while you need a little tweaking, right?! I’ve had hair extensions put in as well and I love them!
Another bonus about going to Salon 359 is the owner, Rita. She is very kind. She greets me as a friend every time that I come in. Because I’m new to the area I’ve asked Rita whom she’d recommend for catering and florals. I’ve never been disappointed.

359 is amazing! After getting botched highlights from a different stylist I was desperate to find someone to fix it… thank God my friend referred me to Nikki Williams (who has been her stylist for like 5 years) Not only did Nikki make room for me the day I called but she stayed 3 extra hours to get it just right for me! I even pushed my luck and asked if she could make it kinda ombré and she did gave me exactly what I wanted. I couldn’t be happier. Also be sure to check out the EVO products she uses. First time ever that i’ve actually loved a shampoo enough to need to buy it!

I have been going to Melissa for 9 years now and she has never disappointed! Salon 359 is a gem– small and personal, while providing top notch customer service and quality hair cuts. Melissa is terrific and has a real talent for cuts and color– I have never gone to anyone else simply because Melissa is the best!
Definitely recommend.

I really feel that I lucked out in meeting Rita! She knows hair so well! My long thick hair needed an expert and I found her. Thank you God! She also has a professional staff as well. Some people think they are too good to smile, not there. Everyone was pretty, and nice and friendly.

Jason is the BEST!
So a year or so ago my son has asked if he can grow his hair long, and since there are many guys out there with manly long hair these days, I totally let him. His dad, on the other hand, apparently hasn’t liked this idea. So one day, he comes back from his dad’s house with a GIRL’S BOB haircut! I was horrified! And right before 4^th grade pictures! So we heard of Jason through a friend and OH MY GOODNESS! Jason not only made this length of hair work on my son, but he made it better than it’s ever looked! And it’s so easy to manage and style. My son loves it, too, because the cut actually makes his hair easier to brush, and still looks great after it gets a little messy. This man really knows what he’s doing.
And don’t forget the fact that Jason also colors and cuts my friend’s hair too. And she ALWAYS looks great! So all in all, Jason is the best. Like I said from the beginning of this review :)

Rita is the absolute best! Rita is the only one I have ever let touch my hair for the last 15 years. She is always able to give me the most flattering and gorgeous cut possible for my rather large head, which is no small feat. She was able to cut off 26 inches of my hair and give me a slightly longer pixie cut and it looked absolutely amazing, even though my hair was in major shock. Rita is also great because she shows you how to use all the various products to really make your hair work for you and to keep that awesome look lasting. So, if you’re in the market for a new ‘do then look no further because she is the goddess of great hair!

Wow, what a place! Given that my mom owned her own salon at one point of my life, it’s easy to say I have seen it all. I was walking by the salon when I notice through the window that most of the girls working there had such great color done to their hair. I walked in and was greeted by the sweetest receptionist who informed me that the person who did her hair (along with the other girls) was the owner Rita.
I was in luck, Rita had a few minutes to do a consultation and boy was she thorough. She knew exactly what I wanted and I could tell we were speaking the same language. She was able to fit me in the very next day for a cut and color.
When I got there in the morning, I was pampered with water and hot coffee to wake me up. Rita started with my color; I have middle eastern dark hair and I have always wanted a golden highlight but instead I always get a orange/​brassy look instead. Rita processed one strained of my hair for 45 minutes and she was honest with me that in order to get my hair to be that color, I would damage my hair and she didn’t want to do that to me. She spent so much time on that one strand and I appreciated her honestly. Most stylist would just do it to get paid after spending that kind of time with someone. Rita informed me that she had an idea but it would require her to order a new product and she promised me that she would get me to the color I always dreamed of without compromising my hair.
The next step was my hair cut. I am usually such a baby when it comes to hair cuts because I am so attached to my long hair. However, Rita spoke my language. «Are you ready for BIG and SEXY hair?» she asked. Oh boy, did I get big and sexy hair. She did such an amazing job that I almost didn’t recognize my own hair. It went from being completely flat to looking straight out of a hair magazine. Rita then spent one hour with me showing me different ways to fix my hair in the morning. I have never been a hair person and I told her that a flat iron was the extent of «doing my hair.» Rita showed me how to blow dry, how to put in curlers and how to use a curling iron in times when I am in a rush. I have never been able to do my hair but after I went home I was able to replicate the job that Rita did.
Rita told me that her customers are a billboard of her work; which is such a great motto to work by. I was so impressed and have found a stylist I know I will stick by for years to come.

Nikki is the ombré queen. There I said it. I dye my hair quite often, like ill bleach the begeezus out of it and dye it pink or purple or to look like a punky my little pony. So she had to save it from all that over processing and blend a hard bleached out/​roots line into a soft gradient. Have you seen that tattoo show that they only do cover ups? Yeah this was like that. Pre existing major dye lines and blending– working with what’s already there? She used no low lights, just some quick acting lightener and toners, so nothing will fade and did it so when it grows out it will prob look even better. Seamless :). My hair (mercifully its Asian or it would have never held up 28 years) is waayyyy healthier after DYEING plus her cut.
Luckily i was referred by a friend who goes to her as well, and know how particular i am– I was afraid to try someone new here, but looks like I found my girl. She really works with what you want and the overall look you’re trying to achieve since I like my hair a little funky but still want it to look presentable.
She gives great tips for your hairstyle and hair type plus referrals and referees get a discount! The salon itself is very nice, the people as well. Worth. every. penny.

Made an emergency cut/​color appointment with Kris last weekend because the guy I usually go to was off.
I have always been blonde. Nothing crazy, just simple blonde highlights with a light brown, natural base tint. I asked for ANYTHING but brassy gold (I’ve had bad luck with that in the past). My roots, which look like they are already grown out an inch, are now strawberry blonde slash borderline orange. Ugh.
Wait for it… now comes the hair cut. I’ve struggled with growing my hair out for years and it was finally long. I asked him to clean up the edges and cut off HALF AN INCH. I didn’t have my glasses on and it was too late by the time I realized that he had taken at 4 inches PLUS huge chunks of missing hair. I didn’t ask for layers or for him to get «creative» with my haircut and he completely disregarded my request. Now it is short and completely THINNED out. I came home and cried.
Oh and I’m $ 325 poorer… is that a joke?! Sticking to my boy Aaron at The Living Room. He does an awesome job and I never leave for more than $ 150. Never going back to Salon 359, so upsetting.

Nikki is the best! She always gives me a great cut and does the BEST color.
I recently purchaed a voucher from Dealgrind for a brazilian blowout and long story short, the free haircut i incurred as part of the deal was AWFUL! (I won’t name the salon here, thats a whole other review) Nikki was able to squeeze me in at a moment’s notice and save the day.
She gave me a super cute cut and rescued my brassy color as well. The whole process was complete within 90 minutes! She is up to date on the latest syles and methods and is very intuitive as to what you are looking for.

He’s been cutting my hair for years and I’m continuously amazed at his ability to transform my sad little blonde mop into something fabulous.
My hair is thin & fine and I tend to feel limited as to what kinds of styles I can wear, but Kris always makes me look & feel good. He’s super talented and creative and always offers fresh and interesting styles that make me actually like my hair. He’s amazing at what he does, plus he’s an all around great guy.
The salon is super cute too. It’s got a small boutique-​y vibe and everyone is friendly and welcoming.

**I want to preface this review by saying I would have given this salon 5 stars, until I had to pay for my services, because I feel I was overcharged.**
I was not completely thrilled with my previous hair salon, so when I saw a deal on Plum District for Salon 359 I decided to give them a try. I bought a deal for $ 150 worth of salon services. Salon 359’s website states their hair cuts start at $ 70 and highlights at $ 75. This is about what I’ve paid for highlights and a hair cut at every appointment I’ve had all over Southern California in the last 15 years ($ 120 – 150, EVERY time), so I figured that’s about what it would cost, or at least that my certificate of $ 150 would cover most of the cost.
I was scheduled with one of the three salon owners and she did a great job on my hair. I was very pleased with the atmosphere in the salon and the work she did. I had lowlights done (with one color) and a hair cut. The entire appointment took 1.5 hours from start to finish. I was thrilled, as she was very efficient and did an excellent job. I’ve never left a salon in less than 2.5 hours.
I was completely shocked when the receptionist said I owed $ 50 AFTER the $ 150 coupon. This is where this salon gets 2 stars from me. I do not feel I got $ 200 worth of salon services (one lowlight color weaved in and a trim, really?!). I was very flustered and should have asked to speak with the stylist regarding this, but I wasn’t feeling well and wanted to leave. On top of this I felt like I had to leave a tip in an envelope, because I was happy with the cut and color, despite the shock at the price.
I lost hours of sleep the night after the appointment because I felt like I was robbed and didn’t stick up for myself. I feel like I was charged this price because I used a voucher. I know this is an assumption of mine, but I know they lose a big chunk of money on those deals. However, the point of selling a deal voucher is to gain new clients, which this salon ALMOST did. I was very happy and ready to spread the word about the great job they did, until I was charged $ 200 for what I feel was MAYBE $ 130 worth of services. I realize this is Orange County and Newport Beach, but that doesn’t give ANY business the right to overcharge their customers. I, sadly, will not be returning to this salon.

Finally got a haircut! It’s been a loooong time!
LaRee was my stylist. Super friendly and cool. We agreed to chop off my hair and donate it since it was so long. About an hour later I have an awesome A-​Line bob :)
I’m glad I bought the LivingSocial deal and I will definitely be back!

It was the day of my prom and I did not want to drive all the way down to Rowland Heights to get my hair done. So, I decided that I should try a salon that was nearby and I picked Salon 359.
This cute little place is located on the outside rim of Fashion Island behind the Edwards Cinema.
The week before I had made an appointment with Nikki Williams at 11:30 AM. However, I thought that the appointment was at 10:30 so I showed up an hour early for my appointment. The receptionist was very polite and told me about my error and even called Nikki to see if she could come earlier and do my hair.
So Nikki arrived 15 minutes early and immediately started to work on my hair. At first, I was a little concerned that she curled my hair just a little too much, but then a few hours later, my hair had loosened up and it looked absolutely perfect. Thank you Nikki Williams for giving me awesome prom hairdo. =]
