Newport Platinum Dance Academy

I have taken adult tap and adult ballet there over the years and I just love Jackie! Also, my daughter is finally old enough to take ballet there (2.5). Miss Jackie is SO patient with her and my daughter absolutely loves her. Her methods of getting 2.5+ year olds to understand ballet are impressive. My daughter will do anything if a princess doll is involved. It’s a great combination of keeping their attention with princess dolls, dresses, wands, etc. and teaching them real technique. I’m impressed every time!
It truly makes me smile that I can say I enjoyed learning ballet (and tap) from the graceful Miss Jackie and now my daughter gets to as well :).

Newport Platinum Dance is the total package because you can pretty much find anything you are looking for here! Many dance studios don’t let children dance until they are at least 3 or 4 years old, but if your child is anxious to dance Newport PDA is the place to go. Kids can begin at only 2 years old and Miss Jackie has years of experience with how to keep «terrible twos on their toes.» She has a wide variety of props to keep them entertained such as: disney princess dolls, hula hoops, princess costumes, and stickers for a job well done. The young ones use these props as learning tools and they are also a lot of fun!
Newport Platinum Dance offers classes for all ages, though. More recently, they have added more options for teenagers at the beginning level. If you are a teenager and have never danced before, they have a fast track to success! They offer teen jazz, teen ballet, teen tap, and now teen lyrical. They also offer private lessons if you feel you need extra help. Newport PDA has a good, solid, group of advanced girls as well. Many of the advanced girls choose to compete in group routines, duets, and even solos. They have competed at competitions such as Showstopper, I Love Dance, Spotlight, etc. Many of these talented girls also dance at OCSA (Orange County School of the Arts) and on the Newport Harbor High dance team. Long story short, Newport PDA has a place for everyone!

I am not a dancer — I started taking ballet classes with Jackie 2 years ago as a fun, different way to stay in shape.
Two years later and I’m still going pretty regularly! I love the adult class — Jackie is a great teacher. It’s a low-​pressure — she never makes you feel stupid, even if you have no idea what you’re doing. There are usually people of all different levels of experience — from the professionals to the newbees, and Jackie does a great job at catering the class to everyone’s needs.
I’m definitely not going to be a professional, but I love the physical and mental challenge of this class. Thanks Jackie!
