Back at the club after months in Rancho Mirage. Hector still makes the best Tanqueray Gibson! Can’t believe we’ve been members for 10 years.

I have eaten at NYBC several times, and have never had even the smallest complaint. Last night was no exception. It was a Friday Chop House night and the choices all looked delicious. I ordered the«Newporter», which was a large size fillet topped with crab and Bernaise sauce. How could I go wrong with that? I ordered a Manhattan«up», and it was strong! I was afraid to order a second one since I was driving.
We were immediately presented with a loaf of fresh and flavorful sourdough bread with copious amounts of unsalted butter. Sooo delicious! I started with a Caesar salad which was fresh and perfectly dressed, with the exception of no anchovies.(I probably should have asked for some). My steak arrived perfectly cooked(medium rare) with some nice steamed veggies, and a delicious twice baked potato. All were perfectly cooked!
One of the most delightful highlights of the evening was our server, Janet. She apologized for being new, but what she lacked in the few things she didn’t know on the menu, she more than made up for it with her charming personality and willingness to serve us well. She completely accomplished that, and next time I go back, I will specifically ask for one of her tables. Give her a week and she’ll be a champ! The portions were large but even I couldn’t finish it all. Not a problem, as I will have another wonderful dinner tonight. Yes, the atmosphere is old school, but that adds to the charm. I hope they do not update it. It’s a nice throwback to more leisurely and non-trendy times.
All in all, 5 stars on every level!

Came here with some friends for a meeting. The place was good, the live music was good too. I had the filet and it was done very nicely. Service was awesome too.

We held our daughter’s engagement party at the Newport Beach yacht club last night. 50 guests. The Italian buffet was wonderful as was the service, the bar staff, valet and management. Our hostess was Brianna. She was very attentive to the bride and groom. Everything turned out great!

I was skeptical at first. Seems a little old school, the décor could use a little updating but other than that this place is great. The food was a very pleasant surprise. It was very reasonable and delicious. They have specials each night and the chop house on Friday nights is definitely my favorite. Taco Tuesday is always nice too and you can’t beat the Sunday brunch. Definitely worth a try if you have the chance.

Old school for old people. Good thing is that they make a stiff drink!

This place puts the snoot in snooty. You will never see so many noses in the air. Remember that TV show, The OC? These people could have starred on that show! I frequent all five of the major yacht clubs in Newport. I have met some nice people at this club. Overall, however, the atmosphere and overwhelming attitude is very«new money», superficial, and impersonal.

This place gave me the WORST case of food poisoning I’ve had in my entire life. Stay away, far far away. Also, more often than not the bartenders are rude.

When my girlfriends and I pulled up to the club from our rented boat(one of my friends has privileges through her membership at another club), we were treated well by the guy at the dock while they waited to see if it was«okay» for us to go in. But the bartender was just plain rude. A couple of us ordered glassess of chardonnay that we recognized instantly had turned. When we mentioned it, the bartender basically called us liars with this«how dare you question my wine?» attitude. Needless to day, I can’t remember the last time I was treated like this. There are plenty of other nice places in Newport happy to take my money.

Nice place to watch the boat parade. Can sit by the pool in the summer. You can bring your laptop and get work done on the patio, or grab a bite to eat. There is a room that has a dance floor downstairs and there is a library upstairs.

Joined this past summer and really enjoy«hanging» at the Club. We always eat in the bar area versus dining room. More action. Usually live entertainment, and sports on big screen. Hector and Kenny both know how to pour a stiff drink. Tammy and Sarah are great servers, always smiling and bring the drinks quickly. Menu offers quality entrees of fish and cow, as well as yummy bar food.

The company I work for held their annual holiday luncheon here so it was a nice opportunity to soak in the sun streaming into the enclosed patio dining area and enjoy a leisure lunch. I had the filet which came with seasoned vegetables and mashed potatoes. The filet was cooked well-done even though I requested medium but that was really the only downside. The server came around often and we never lacked for anything. As far as the ambiance, the bar/dining area is very old-fashioned… a place you would imagine your Dad or Grandfather hanging out at. Yeah, most of the young folks were itching to go down to Woody’s or the like afterwards. But I will say, they know how to make a stiff drink here!

I love the Yacht Club. My grandparents are members, so most birthday dinners are celebrated here. We love Tammy, she’s a fantastic server. Santiago is always quick to remove your plates or fill your water. Wish I could remember the bartender and chef’s names, but they are great as well. It’s kind of like one big family. All of the regulars are older, but they all love it. It’s a great place to watch the holiday boat parade, and sitting on the patio in the summer is great.

Maybe it was just bad luck. The Valet guy was very nice, but that is where the hospitality ended. No one said hello inside. No room at the bar. The waitress never served me. Maybe it was my San Diego Yacht Club tee shirt that turned then off? I’ve been to San Diego YC as a Reciprical three times and have always been treated very nice. I’m not sure what the deal is with NPYC. I hope you have better luck than I did. I visited the corinthian YC last trip down here and they were very nice.

Great place to watch a University of Iowa football and basketball games if you are in the Newport Beach /LA area of California. Looking for more Iowa Natives to review this bar, though.
