Newport Beach Aikido specializes in offering a full time dojo for traditional Aikido practice for both Adults and Children. We offer weapons training, locker rooms, and showers. We are open 7 days a week with morning, lunch, and evening classes. Special seminars including guest instructors are offered several times a year. Summer camps for children run from July through August. We are affliated with the United States Aikido Federation and the Hombu dojo in Japan. Our Sensei Pennewaert is the second generation from the founder of Aikido. All is welcome to come watch our classes and ask questions.

History

Established in 1987.

Sensei Pennewaert founded the Shin Do Kan in Brussels, Belgium and has continued to teach worldwide in Europe, Australia, and the United States. Shin Do Kan in Newport Beach, California was started in 1997 and has continued to grow into a full time dojo with morning, afternoon, and evening classes. Our dojo offers weapons training, summer camps, seminars, and more. With over 25 years of Aikido experience, the Shin Do Kan dojo is recognized by Hombu dojo, Japan and is affliated with the Unites States Aikido Federation.

Business Owner

Sensei Gentil Pennewaert, Shidoin, is a second generation student of Morihei Ueshiba, the founder of Aikido. His teaching embodies the traditional spirit of Aikido. Sensei’s credentials are recognized by the World Aikido Headquarters in Tokyo, Japan (which is directly related to the founder of Aikido) and the United States Aikido Federation Headquarters (USAF).
