We are a specialty tailoring shop with over 25 years of experience. Besides your every-​day items, we are particularly familiar with your more difficult and specialized garments and household items. Anything you name, we can find a way to make it fit perfectly! Bring your item in for a free inspection and quote!

Established in 2006.

Master Tailoring belongs to a family-​operated business that has been proudly serving the community of Newport Beach since the mid-​eighties. With humble beginnings, the company has grown throughout the years and now owns four iconic alteration and dry-​cleaning stores within Newport Beach. We pride ourselves for our superior handiwork, expert knowledge, and personal touch and are looking forward to bringing you the garment care you deserve!

Really shocked by all the bad reviews! This is my go-​to tailor and trust them completely with my clothes. I have taken countless dresses and pants to this tailor to get altered here and Lori does a great job every time. She makes sure alterations are done the way I like and has them done when she says she will. I highly recommend them!

The worst customer service! Please don’t go here. They are rude and the lady at the counter hates dogs and children. She refuse to let me try on the clothes before paying. One was done wrong and one of the other five pieces had a stain. The dress with the stain was brand new and never worn. She argued over the ridiculously high bill and the poor job she did on my dress. Called my dog stupid (he is passive blind and resting in my arms) and said I need to go home and take my medicine. My dog is quiet old and I am not on medicine. Terrible people and terrible service. She insults you and threatens to hold your stuff until you pay full price. Won’t listen to your concerns. Literally grabbed my clothes off the counter and ran to the back with them all while calling me names like a bully (I’m guessing it’s Lori since several others have been yelled at by her). AVOID this place! Unless you are into spending a ton of money on mediocre work, stains that weren’t there before and yelling matches!

I first used this tailor to take in a dress and to let the hem down in another dress. When I went to wear the dress that had been taken in to my event that night, the zipper was sewn in! The other dress I had them let the hem down in had been stretched so much it basically curved out at the hem like a bell. I thought I would give them one last chance to just hem a pair of slacks. When I got home and took the plastic off, I had noticed they hung them folded over like a pair of jeans and had pressed the seam in the slacks out. The hem also looked terrible. They took out the original hem and instead of cutting the excess fabric away they just hemmed them, so there is about a bulky big 2 ½ hem that looks terrible! Time to find a new tailor. I would not recommend this place at all. Very disappointing and they are ruining my clothes!!!

RUDE & UNPROFESSIONAL LORI WORKS HERE… I’ve been a a customer for 5 yrs and unfortunately today I had the most unpleasant experience of dealing with LORI! I had my dress altered there which took her several weeks to complete. Despite the delay I chose not to complain and dismiss it as an oversight. When I went to wear the dress I noticed it was returned to me with a broken zipper. I brought it back to today to have it repaired. She got very defensive and rude and stated that there was nothing wrong with the zipper when she gave me the dress. The funny thing about all of this is that I never once said that I was NOT going to pay for the repair! So RUDE and ABUSIVE! I also had a bag full of other items I needed altered! It is clear she does. It care about customer service or knows how to treat a 6yr loyal customer! If you want good tailoring done I will let you know when I Find the next place I go cuz this isn’t it! And Lori won’t last in this business with that attitude!

The WORST experience with a human ever. Laurie, or the main lady who claims to be the manager, kicked me out of her store after screaming at me because I asked why my dress hem was going to be $ 50. (A week earlier for a dress similar was $ 30) she said I don’t have a clue what I am talking about, and not to challenge her prices. This place and lady is rude and obviously ripping people off. I went to another tailor by fashion island called classic tailor and for the dress she quoted me $ 50, they did for $ 20. Stay clear of this lady and place!

Horrible, horrible experience!!! I read terrible reviews and heard from my fiancé that they can’t even do the simplest tailoring. but I chose to give them a chance to draw my own conclusions– since they were right across the street from where I live. Boy, was I wrong to do that!
I brought in a dress to be tailored– the bust ended being too tight, the sides were taken in too far down toward my hips (when I specifically instructed her not to), beadings falling off, and the inside lining shortened, hence pulling the hem of the dress upwards and making it shorter, floppy and crooked. The lady doesn’t even have the knowledge or expertise to recognize that the inside lining is too short and pulling up the bottom of the dress. Overall, it was a horrible job.
The lady’s defenses were up the minute I explained that I didn’t like how the dress was tailored. I explained that I would like the dress redone to my expectations or for her to bring it back to its original shape and I’ll get it done elsewhere. I was open to them redoing it but the lady was so mean, unyielding and nasty (her retorts were rather immature and untactful) that I was not confident she was listening to what I was saying or understood what I wanted. Additionally, she wanted me to pay her for the unsatisfactory work she already did before she’ll agree to fix it. If that were the case– if I were a business owner– I would always do unsatisfactory work the first time around so I could charge extra to fix it.
And yes– as one of the reviewers on here said– the customer is always wrong at this establishment. I was wrong to not like how they tailored my dress and I was wrong to want the dress to look a certain way.
After some contentious back and forth, she ended up throwing my dress on the floor rather than handling it back to me.

Absolutely the worst experience i’ve had! Not only they misplaced my pants and were lost for 2 weeks, nobody will call me to let me know where my designer pant where but their job was bad and situation was not handled appropiatley.
I took 2 pairs of pants for regular hems and a month after they started unfolding. Not a professional taylor at all and waaay over priced. I will not return nor reccomend this place.

I am so surprised that so many people have had a bad experience! I have had a great experience here and the work has always been superior and I feel the prices are reasonable. Lori at the front has always been very nice and friendly to me, so I am confused by everyone’s disappointment. I trust this place and will continue to business with them.

Bad, bad, bad! $ 291.35 for 29 shirts! Are you kidding me? No prices posted in the place, so you have no idea that you’re going to get ripped off when you pick up your clothes! I’ll never go here, and I’ve already told all my coworkers, friends, and family to never go here.

Wow, I wish I’d thought to read these reviews! I took friends’ recommendations & totally regret it! $ 65 for alterations on a bridesmaids dress; and she wouldn’t even use their coupon that came in my mail between the time I dropped it off & picked it up! I know it SAYS must be presented with incoming order; but I’ve NEVER had a Service Business refuse before. Then, I got the dress home & realized she’d put it on a clippy hanger that’s crushed the top, so now I’ll have to steam it before the wedding. Also, she didn’t take off the plastic snaps, which I asked her to remove, since we’re not using the detachable bow on the back of the dress. DO NOT GO HERE! THERE ARE PLENTY OF GOOD TAILORS IN NEWPORT BEACH. I wish I could give negative stars.

This place is HORRIBLE! I brought a dress here to be let back out to the normal size after my sister borrowed it and had it taken in in the chest area. (this is an extremely easy job for anyone who knows alterations) I explained exactly what to do, showed her the stitching on both sides of the dress and when I got the dress back they had only let out one side! The dress was completely lopsided! The lady told me I was WRONG, that I never told her both sides had been taken in, and I would have to pay an ADDITIONAL $ 30 (after I had already paid $ 30) to have the other side done. We are talking about the top of a dress, 5 inches max. She YELLED at me and when I asked for the owner told me «No…I’m done with this.» Do not go here!!! Horrible customer service and craftsmanship! Here, the customer is always WRONG, not right. This place will be out of business soon! Good riddens.

Over priced and terrible service. Been a customer here for 15 years back when they were in South Coast Plaza. New ownership made this place go downhill. I would suggest going to CLASSIC TAILORING instead (where all of the high end stores at Fashion Island recommend). Stay away!
