The Tailor I had previously used moved his business elsewhere and I was left with no one to alter my garments. After a brief search I found Joy Tailoring, the high rating is what convinced me to give this establishment a shot. I needed a suit altered for a wedding, and to complicate things, I needed the job done very quickly. I arrived at the shop and was greeted warmly by the owner/​operator. I put on the suit, we agreed on the adjustment to be made and the truncated timeline I required. I picked up the suit, was very impressed with the quality of the work and the price was far lower than I had anticipated. I will definitely engage the service of this establishment going forward.

My wife, Jordan, and mother in law got their dresses altered by Nana for our wedding. Both had amazing experiences and were so happy with the results! Nana took her time to make sure my wife’s dress was perfect for the special day. She even came in to the store on Sundays when the store was closed to meet with my wife and mother in law to accommodate their busy schedules. Her prices were phenomenal and the best around. My in laws go to her for their other alteration needs as well because she does great work for great prices! We will definitely continue to go to Nana and recommend her to anyone looking for an affordable and fantastic tailor!

I have had only good experiences at Joy Tailoring. My suits, dress pants, and blazers fit perfectly after being worked on by Nana. Not to mention that she charges very reasonable prices for the quality of tailoring. This is the go-​to spot for tailoring in Newport. Thanks!

Great tailor! She did a blazer, cardigan, and shirt for me. Also, I bought a tie with a flat bottom on accident. I brought it in with the other items and she tailored it to a standard point at no additional charge. Definitely will be back again.

I am simply one of many people that have been more than satisfied with the work of Nana. My needs were always met with a smile, and her work far exceeded my expectations. I took in a shirt from a company called Triple Aught Design (TAD), their stitching is very complex and I was a bit nervous taking it into a tailor (they do not recommend taking their clothing into get adjusted). However Nana did a very nice job recreating the complicated stitching and fitting it perfectly to my body! Her service was quick and she was careful enough to ask me about something before she went ahead and cut up my shirt.
I will be back and I hope that you will give her a visit!

Great tailoring shop! Took a few shirts and jeans for Nana to alter and make them a better fit, and it took about a week for 6 items. She’s always extremely busy so if you want a fast turn-​around time you’ll need to bring it in early. After picking the completed alterations up I am very satisfied. She made the shirts much better fitting to me and the jeans the perfect length. Although there were some billing mistakes, she apologized for miscalculating and gave me a discount for it, bravo! Will definitely come back again for my alteration needs.

This little lady is the most talented tailor I have ever come across. She altered a suit I bought for my son’s wedding in November. This was no easy task either because the skirt was a macramé, lots of openings. She did an exquisite job in short order and her prices were unbelievably reasonable. I was so impressed with her talents I took the lined top I was to wear to the rehearsal dinner to her for tailoring too. She is up-​to-​date on fashion and makes suggestions I’ve appreciated. I have three new skirt suits in for her to work her magic on right now. I know they’ll be perfect! She’s priceless!!!

I’ve gotten plenty of suits tailored before and have never had any issues. I decided to try this place to get two sets of pants and jackets fitted to my body. I’m just glad these weren’t my more expensive suits as they are both essentially ruined. I let her know that I wanted my jackets to be slimmed down, and after fitting everything up perfectly to my body, i had assumed the job would come out perfectly. Unfortunately, when I came back, the jacket was too tight on the chest area, and the sleeves were shortened way too much. The pants were brought up way too high, and were not slimmed down at all. Both sets also had weird bunched up areas at the end of the sleeves and pant legs. I expressed my concerns, and she assured me she would fix it and so I left the pants there again after getting re-​fitted — She couldn’t really do anything on the jackets, so i was already SOL. The second time around the pants are still loose around the thighs, but super skinny at the bottom. I couldn’t believe it. I came here because of the lower prices, but now i realize why. Never trust this place with any slightly complex suit tailoring.

Nana worked her magic on my Hayley Paige gown. I was fitted incorrectly when I ordered my dress (empire waist vs natural waist) and the boutique where I purchased would not correct their mistake. Stuck with a dress that wouldn’t zip past my ribcage, I panicked and took my dress to see Nana. She was able to let the dress out a few inches and readjust the crystal beaded straps. Nana also sewed in cups and adjusted the hemline. Her work is amazing.
I also took my second dress to her and she worked her magic taking in the sides and adding cups.
I have since taken in a few other items to her and every time I leave happy. Her work is very detailed and her prices are extremely reasonable.

Such an amazing woman running this shop. I needed my bridesmaid dress altered and I had waiting until the last minute to take it in, I was able to get it back with in a week ! She was so nice and very quick when I came in to get it fitted, and gave me a very reasonable price for what needed to be done to it. If I ever need anything else altered I know where I will be going !

Nana is amazing. I showed up at her shop on a Tuesday with a velvet and beaded Carmen Marc Valvo evening gown I needed to wear Friday night. The dress was fully beaded at the top and I knew it would take time. I told her it was okay if she didn’t think should could get it done in time. (I had a back up dress, but this is the one I wanted to wear). She asked me to put the dress on. She looked at it and said she would have to do all of the beadwork by hand, but she would have it done by Friday. It was done a few hours later than promised, but still early enough for me to pick up and wear to my party. She did an excellent job, and my gown looked fabulous! I asked her to do the impossible, and she delivered! I will certainly be back again.

I panicked about my bridesmaid dress alteration because the dress had embroidery at the top and needed to be taken in– Nana reassured me that it can be done in a short amount of time. It also felt good to see many bride dresses being altered in the shop.
When I tried it on, it fit like a glove and was steamed and ready to go. I panicked about finding out the price but it was extremely fair and much less than what David’s bridal would charge for worse craftsmanship. There is no need to look elsewhere. She will always be my go to for alterations. She’s also very sweet and positive which helps the whole experience.

Nana is amazing. I decided to wait about one month before my wedding to get my wedding dress (I know, I know…), and then waited another two weeks before finding a tailor to get it altered. Finally, two weeks before my wedding day, I brought in my dress to Nana and asked her if it could be completed by that time. She said it would be completed within 5 days, and was able to alter the dress to have it flow like it should.
Not only that, but she is sweet, accommodating, and so nice. Not only did my dress turn out really great (and on-​time!), but her warm personality really makes tailoring a joyous experience.

Had an emergency alternation for a very special day. I brought in an Oscar de la Renta dress to have it fitted and altered (something that usually takes at least two weeks), and asked Imy to help me. She was so kind and so professional — she carefully made a quick fix that tightened the body, so the dress is not only presentable, but actually beautiful! Moreover, she refused to compromise on her promises to deliver alternations to other clients on time, while saving me. She didn’t charge me either, for it isn’t complete and perfect.
This is the very best tailor in OC, and I highly recommend Imy!

Nana is the most amazing person ever! I went to her for my bridal shower top and skirt. She met with me without an appointment and got my alterations ready within less than a week. The price she quoted me was beyond reasonable and it turned out perfect! She took in a skirt with a lot of layers, shortened it and tightened my top to fit. After my experience with her I brought all my bridesmaids to get their dresses altered by her. She was the SWEETEST! And she is so professional and knows what a dress needs and what works for your body just by looking at it. We love her so much! Two of my bridesmaids went to a different alterations place that charged them double the price and didn’t do a good job so we came to Nana to fix it!
Now I’m back to get another dress altered for a wedding I am in! Go to her you will be so happy you did!

Really great first time experience.
I have never gotten anything tailored before. I bought a heavily discounted suit at Macy’s because I needed it for the upcoming career fair, however it was very loose and slightly too big for me. Looking on Unilocal I discovered Joy Tailoring, along with it’s very high reviews. I brought my suit to ‘Nana’, the tailor. She had me put my suit on, and with her safety pins she adjusted my suit according to how she believed it should look. In the end I needed to shorten my sleeves, adjust the waist, tighten the back, shorten my legs, etc. Yet despite requiring all those alterations, Nana only charged me a fair price (in my opinion) of $ 85. She told me she would have it finished and 7 days, and that I could pick it up after hours at her home in Irvine, CA (which was really convenient for me since I’m a college student at UCI).
After picking up my suit, I was blown away at how well the suit turned out, she practically transformed the entire suit. It fit very well on me, giving me a very professional and sleek look.
I wish I could give ‘Nana’ more money than I could afford, because her work definitely deserved more than what she charged.
‘Nana’ is definitely one of the most heartwarming and sweet person I have ever met, and I would recommend her to anyone who ever needs to get something tailored. No doubt I’ll be coming back to her again if I need anything else altered.
Oh, and she also has a really adorable dog.

I just discovered how great Nana is. This is her location for her Newport Beach store, but she also takes clients after hours through «Alterations by Nana.»
Nana will work patiently with you and help you figure out what alterations work best for body. I came here to get my wedding dress altered because she had previously altered a red dress for me that I’ve come to love so much (I even wore it during my wedding reception during the dancing hour!). She was super patient, figured out how to best trim the dress, and even helped me figure out that my dress had a train! Best service I could ask for, for a really really unbeatable price!
The dress was altered within a timely fashion, and I danced the night away in it! Thank you Nana!

My review is a little late but indeed not forgotten! I used «Nana» for my alterations back in July for my August 3 wedding. She altered my wedding dress and only after I trusted all of the positive reviews here for her. She is the sweetest lady EVER and just so kind and patient. She is speedy at her services (even the most delicate and pricey gowns) and her work is exceptional. I think total time frame for her altering my dress was less than a month with me going in less than 4 times for fittings. Did I mention she barely charged me anything? Loved working with her and I’m sure everyone else does too :)

It is pretty challenging to communicate with her. She might be blaming my accent whilst I am blaming her accent. Lol. But she is a joyful person to deal with, and she is always smiling and happy.
I like her price and location. After her store hours, I can visit her in her Irvine location which is closer to me. Her price is very reasonable. She doesn’t charge you per section, if it’s a hem, then she offers all flat price, waist take-​in, either she works on one section, or from both sides, she charges flat. I like her honesty to offer taking the waist from the back or from the sides depending on the type of clothes, considering the design as well. Bellaz Custom Tailoring on Barranca ruined my $ 600 pants by taking waist in from the back, and resulted the side pockets moved toward butt because he told me taking in from each side was not necessary.
Only problem here, is with the denim clothes, she can’t re-​create the denim feel. Denim should have rough finish with much thicker thread. But she made all too smooth with too thin thread… so the original denim feel is just gone… I think denim is a special type of fabric, there’s got to be a place just for all those designer denim alteration place.
For my other clothes, she did a pretty clean job — the thread is kind of too loose on one of my pants’ hem line, and white cotton pants’ waist was finished with some uncut threads, (she must have been in hurry or something,) but she did a seamless job on my other dress pants! — for the price and her friendly service, Joy tailoring deserves my go-​to alteration place. Never take my denim clothes tho.

I spent over $ 6,000 on my wedding dress and I’ll admit– I was terrified that a tailor would somehow mess it up. I did tons of research to find the best place in Orange County and Joys Tailoring came highly recommended with great reviews on Unilocal.
BUT– I was still nervous.
I went into the shop and was immediately made to feel welcomed into her store. She had me change into my dress and started showing me where the alterations needed to be made. She was very confident in her work and assured me that everything would go well. I was still a little nervous, but I felt confident that she was good at what she did, so I left my dress with her.
I picked up my dress 3 weeks later, and WOW!!! It was absolutely perfect! I couldn’t believe how amazing it turned out. She even offered to steam my dress for me the day before the wedding! I loved her alterations so much, I sent my fiancé (now husband) over so that he could get his suit tailored for the wedding as well.
My dress and his suit fit perfectly!!! If you are looking to get something altered to fit your body, I would HIGHLY recommend Joys Tailoring!
WEDDING ALERT– do not trust other tailors unless you KNOW their work! I have seen too many brides go through hell with their alterations. I was soooo lucky to find Joy’s Tailoring and get everything done perfectly on the first shot! :)
