History

Established in 1989.

The Newporter was purchased by the Del Webb Corporation in 1969. Once known as the «Western White House», Villa A at the Newporter was the President’s summer office in 1969. Actor John Wayne built the «John Wayne Tennis Club» in July of 1974. 1980’s was the time the hotel went through a major renovation including replanting 700 palm trees.
