I enjoyed every class in this studio, from the hard core classes to the «easier» ones. The music and the lights they use are great. The instructors are super friendly and energetic, I wish they had more specials and I would be going much more often :)

I had just had baby #2 and hadn’t been to a spin class in years. Was looking for something to kick my ass in to shape (literally) and get some adrenaline pumping «me time»…let me tell you… I found it!!! I was a little nervous/​intimidated to try it out… but I am SO glad I did! I’ve been coming to classes for a few months now and it’s exactly what I was looking for. The instructors are all friendly, encouraging and fun. It’s a great workout and a really fun hour. I look forward to my «me» time at Bike to the Beat every week!

This place is AMAZING!!! The workouts are just what you need and make you feel alive again! I feel so energetic when I go and they play really good music that keeps you going. Kittie is my favorite instructor, she is really tough but she pushes you in a great way and will help you reach your weight loss goals! David is good too. He is nice and very informative and if you’re a beginner, he really tried to help you and give you pointers.

Amazing studio. All the teachers are super friendly and they want to help you! Which is awesome. Also, there is high energy during the spin classes meaning you really push yourself and leave feeling like you got a great workout in which you probably did! Highly recommend.

Wow — this was truly an experience I won’t be forgetting soon… lol. The instructor, Honey Bunny… Honey butt… Honey Yummy… honey Something… either way, she was awesome ! Great energy, fun… pulled you in, out of your comfort zone — just a great class, period. I don’t typically Unilocal things outside of food stuff America, but since I travel a Ton and I’m always looking for healthy things to keep me busy when time allows… I had to help this class. Although it already has a 5-​star rating from some 170+ reviews… they obviously cracked the code on being top-​shelf!
And gents, trust me these classes are full of little cuties that’ll ride your ass into the ground. I ride quite a bit and this class was by no means a cake-​walk. :)
This is a great way to spend 60 minutes. Don’t believe me? Go and find out. Hell, they’ll even give you the first two classes for free when you sign up online.

For anyone familiar with the Dodgeball movie, SoulCycle is Globo gym and Bike2thebeat is Average Joe’s gym. If you’re looking for intimate classes and a friendly community that’s less intimidating, Bike2thebeat is your best choice. If you’re looking to be competitive and work your butt off, SoulCycle hands down.
As a frequent patron of SoulCyle, I was excited to try this one in my area. I was definitely intrigued by the competitive pricing and the great reviews on Unilocal.
The instructor was super friendly, especially since my companion was new to cycling. She explained how it works, what it means when you’re riding on the right/​left, and what to expect. You definitely DON’T get that at SoulCycle. When I got on my bike though, I noticed that there were screws at the bottom of my bike (yikes!) and my bike was really rickety and made grinding sounds. At one point, my shoe came out of the holster and the pedal hit me in the ankle, breaking some skin and leaving me with a big bruise.
The workout itself wasn’t very strenuous, I didn’t even sweat at all. I added more resistance when I didn’t need to but I think the A/​C (which i’m sure most people actually appreciate) kept me cool? I could gauge how easy it was by the fact that I went to the Soul Survivor class at SoulCycle the morning after and was able to get through the class without feeling any post workout fatigue.
Overall, this place isn’t bad. You can tell the community really likes each other and you don’t get that «uppity snobby» attitude from the other members that you routinely get at SoulCycle. But to be honest, I’m not there to make friends, I’m there to work out and push myself, and for that I’d have to choose SoulCycle. I also thought it was strange that the instructor has to stop riding to change songs each time. They need to work on their transitions…
I did love the lavender towels at the end!

Love Bike 2 The Beat! Literally everything about it. The music, the instructors, the workout. Although, it doesn’t even feel like a workout because it’s fun. I love this place so much, really transformed the way I think about spin.

Obsessed!!! Took spin with heather and all I can say is she rocks! The class went by so fast, and the music was on point. Everyone was so helpful and accommodating when I arrived. Loved the vibe here! Can’t wait to come back with my friends.

I went to this studio with an open mind and was quite excited about finding a new cycle studio near me. I heard great things about it in fact. However, when I was greeted by the front desk and they informed me on how their studio was superior to all other studios, it kind of rubbed me the wrong way. They asked where I normally spin, so when I told them, they immediately told me that my studio wasn’t spinning correctly and that it is a poor workout. I didn’t think that it was a good sales technique to put down the competitor. Especially to a place that I love to go, and continue to go to.
Then once I went into the spin class, I did think the class was a pretty good work out. The instructor yelled pretty loudly, but that form of «encouragement» works for some people. I had a good sweat, so I am glad that I went to try it out. However, I doubt I will be returning.

I love Bike2theBeat!!! I cant express enough how incredible this work out is. I actually get excited to wake my butt up in the morning and get on my bike.
Mindy is the owner and an instructor, her class is advanced, fun, and dynamic! Get ready to sweat, laugh and dance in her class.
Brea is incredible too, her technique keeps me constantly on my toes and never bored. The music is awesome and always changing.
All the instructors are awesome, I like it because they all have different personalities and play their own music. First class is free, I highly suggest you check it out!

I’m not a fan of spin by far. I’ve gone to many spin studios and gyms and gave it a shot time and time again. This is the only studio who told me I had to get the spin shoes, or whatever they’re called. It definitely changed spin.
Another difference is that you reserve your specific bike. The class was packed!
Heather’s class was upbeat and she played top 40 hits, including lots of Dre to celebrate the release of «Straight Outta Compton.»
Finally, there’s a towel already on your bike and you get a fresh, lavender (?) oil towel at the end.
With all that said, if I went to spin, I would come here.

Holy sweat machine! I’ve taken 2 classes here so far. Small studio, nice bikes, shoe rental with quality spin shoes, black light disco ball fun. I’ve only taken regular spin classes before (think 24 hour fitness style) but I loved this! Mindy’s class had me having so much fun! Awesome music and she is so fired up! I really had a good time, and it’s one of the best workouts I’ve had in awhile. I left absolutely dripping in sweat. Not the I can just dry shampoo kind of sweat but the I need to do a full hair wash kind of sweat.
The cold scented towel at the end-​AMAZING.

I love Bike2theBeat! Great class vibe, awesome teacher energy and competitive pricing. They’re opening up a new studio in Tustin which is great and closer to my house.

I should have written this update months ago, but better late than never! When Mindy added the Body Beat classes, I was excited to try them and from the first one, I was hooked! I love that I can go to the gym and get my cardio and strength done all in one place! It’s a tough class that incorporates weights, bands, kettle bells, and weighted bars for a total body workout. You will definitely see improvement both in your muscle tone and in your strength. I started seeing results quickly and I take Body Beat 2 – 3 times/​week (plus spin). The class is fun and upbeat. Mindy is super encouraging and so are the other people taking it with you. Mindy is always changing it up with new exercises so you don’t get bored – no class is ever the same. I love the class, but I love the results I am seeing even more. Thanks b2tb!

My review is meant to be helpful for those who spin routinely (I go 3 times a week, Grit Cycle for a year and now Studio Cycle CDM) and are looking to shake up their routine and maybe try a new studio. My advice to those people: do not, I repeat, DO NOT go to Bike2thebeat. That being said, those who have never taken a spin class before may find it right up their alley. However, I suggest trying other studios so you can make an informed decision about where to spend your money. NOTE: I’m going to use the phrase, «every other studio I’ve been to» frequently, sorry ’bout it.
CONS:
Issue — New Client Welcome/​Orientation
When new clients arrive, maybe someone at the front desk should give them a brief tour of the studio, so they know where they can change, put purses away, find towels, etc. The instructor should also introduce themselves and ask new clients two questions: 1) Have you ever taken a class here before? and 2) Have you ever taken a spin class before anywhere else? This could save them the awkward, and frankly, patronizing conversation, wherein they single out new riders with a sort «poor you» attitude, and proceed to «explain how to ride». The time they save could be put towards helping new clients set up their bike, instead of completely ignoring them.
Issue — Class Format/​Instructor
1) The walls and floor are black, which makes you feel like you’re being smothered. This may be just a personal preference, but every other studio I’ve been to has white walls and achieves a satisfactorily dark environment just fine, and you don’t feel like you’re in a fun house at a carnival.
2) In every studio I’ve been to, the instructor faces the class. Helpful, so you can actually see what you should be doing. At this studio, the instructor faces AWAY from the class and I’m completely baffled as to what this achieves, especially when their image in the mirror is blocked by a huge podium, so all you’re doing is staring at their back the whole time.
3) The bikes themselves are spin bikes by definition, I guess, but they really seem more like stationary bikes you find in the main machine room at LA Fitness… or in your grandmother’s garage. Mine specifically was missing its water bottle holder and so I had to rest it on the handle bars… and yes, you guessed it, it fell on the floor at one point.
4) Again, at every other studio I’ve been to, when the instructor says «Right foot lead», that means you’re on the beat and your right foot is at the bottom of the pedal stroke when you strike, NOT YOUR LEFT. This studio is completely backwards, and I had to reverse the instructor’s directions in my head in order to sync with the rest of the class.
5) The instructor I had (Dave at 6:45) was not interested in making sure we were set up properly and ready to go, it almost seemed like an annoyance to him when my friend needed help clipping in. He likes to SCREAM into his mic… a lot. Which I don’t understand, because, sir, you’re in a 20 ft. x 20 ft. room, please stop trying to completely bust my eardrums. It is not motivating, it makes me want to yell back at you to take it down a notch. He also didn’t bother to explain any of the moves to help out new clients, and there was an overall lack of teamwork and encouragement that’s present at other studios.
PRO:
The one thing they did right was pass out the cold towels after.
Like I said, if this is your first time taking a spin class, it may be to your liking, but as someone who frequents some of the highest rated studios in Orange County, this place just felt like amateur hour and I’m glad I didn’t have to pay for it (your first two classes are free when you register). #bike2thebeatvictim

My friend Sarah had been raving about Bike2theBeat for about a month and I had to try it with her. I’ve always been terrified of taking a cycling class so I told Sarah I’d like to try the BodyBeat class first.
The facility is extremely clean and provides a water bottle filling machine along with ample amount of benches and locker space. All of the employees and the gym go-​ers are really helpful in helping you get your necessary equipment for the class: steps, weights ranging from light medium and heavy, bands, etc.
I approached the class as I would any other fitness class. Sports bra, gym shoes, water, and a positive attitude. Don’t forget to bring your positive attitude because Mindy’s workout really kicks your soon to be firm lifted butt. What I loved is how she corrected posture for your safety and ability for you to get the most out of the workout. She pushes you but without the tyrannical approach of other trainers I’ve encountered. Mindy’s humor and encouragement really helps you get through the last rep where your muscles are shaking in places you didn’t even know existed. She plays music throughout the workout and it ranges from nowaday radio hits all the way to your good ol classics from all different genres of music. You’ll catch yourself singing along while wincing from the pain of building muscles and laughing so hard from Mindy’s jokes.
If you sign up online, Bike2theBeat offers two free trial classes! If I lived closer, I would definitely become a regular at this gym.

B2TB is probably unlike any spin class you’ve experienced. It’s fast-​paced and best of all, everyone is expected to move with the beat and in unison.
Many other spin classes (and exercise rooms) make you think you’re getting a workout by turning on the heater or keeping it warm. Here, you’re actually working your ass off. That sweat isn’t from just the humidity or the heat but because you’re working for it.
After your first couple of classes here, you’ll likely be in pain (hurts so good) but don’t quit. Keeping up with the beat may be a bit challenging at first but give it a few more classes and I guarantee you’ll enjoy it and maybe even become a glutton for punishment.

Ok so I just finished my first class at this studio (Mindy teaching) and I Love Love Love it!!! First– Mindy was amazing on directing the newer students on how to properly «ride out of the saddle». I have been to a few Newport Beach spin studios and didn’t get the attention like I did here. Second-​She was so motivating!!! And the class flowed soooo well. I have some major work to do to get in the beat but I look forward to my Bike 2 the Beat journey! Thirdly– And not to mention I loved everyone in the class as well. Very encouraging and nice! Such a feeling of community! Woo hoo! Love that.

Awesome, friendly (but tough), down to earth place that will kick your *ss! Nicely done — nicely done!

I went to a free class at Bike2thebeat and I really do think this place is a fun cycling studio. It’s located right by the airport and there’s plenty of parking in the contained lot.
Mindy helped me get set up and since there were a few other newbies on the first time, she took the time to help explain to us how the class worked and what was going on and what the differences were between places like this and other spin studios (for example, at Bike2thebeat they ride out of the saddle completely). For your first 2 free classes, they give you free shoe rentals — after that, it’s $ 2 per rental.
There’s one bathroom and 2 changing areas — it can get a little weird when your changing area (which is covered by only a curtain) has a gap between the end of the rod and the wall and everyone that has just come out of the previous changing studio is right outside chilling or waiting for the next class (or maybe I’m just a prude).
In any case, the class was great and a lot of fun– there’s a lot of energy in here and the technology is pretty high-​tech. They do a mixture of hip hop, pop, and EDM music, but I’m sure that depends on the instructor.
My one complaint about this place is that the air conditioning is so freaking cold, I felt as though I wasn’t really getting a workout because I was shivering. I usually do kickboxing and muay thai so maybe I’m used to not having any air conditioning at all or I get cold super easily, but it took about 15 minutes for my body to properly warm up to the temperature in the room as we worked out some more.
In any case, this place is a lot of fun– they didn’t incorporate any weights which I would have loved to see for upper body workouts but you definitely still get a run for your cardio.

Great cycling studio in Newport! I first starting visiting because I purchased the groupon, which was a great deal. I was so happy with the classes that I’m now purchasing classes. They are more reasonably prices compared to other studios in the area, which is one of the reasons I prefer coming here.
They provide towels and you can rent shoes if you need to. They recently moved their location so the cycle room is larger and more comfortable now. They also have a workout room where they are starting to launch new classes.
They is a registration process for the bikes, if you get waitlisted, plan on going to the class because other people always cancel!
The classes are so fun, they make you feel like you’re in a club dancing! Such a great feeling. There is so much energy in the class. There are a lot of movements and you’re suppose to be in sync with the class and instructor which can be challenging in the beginning. I’m still trying to get use to it, but eventually I know I’ll get it!
