I walked by before opening in the morning and this place made me sick. The popcorn machine had nasty popcorn from the night before. The counter along side the window was filthy. Do they ever clean?

Awesome balbo bar! I had the rainbow one and it was rather tasty! So now I’ve experienced the famous balboa bar! The employees were very friendly and professional. I can’t say anything bad about this place other than awesome!

Eat anywhere but here. Portions vs prices are a joke. If you want a bucket of fries, prepare to get half a cup of fries at best

I walked by this place all my life on the boardwalk and never tried it till recently. I was surprised by the quality. Those chili cheese fries are so good! The fries taste homemade and are salted perfectly. The ice cream on a waffle cone tastes the way ice cream on a waffle cone should taste like. This place has been standing here as long as I can remember and for good reason.

Terrible service that takes forever and is rude. The monster shave ice looked impressive but was BAD. The ice was old tasting, too coarse and the flavorings were watery and bland. Skip this place!!!

Every time I visit Balboa, I always stop by this place. I love all their frozen treats, especially the rainbow sprinkled Balboa bar. I also like the 80’s painting on the wall of old cartoon characters.

Soft serve waffle cone really good but could have been smaller, too much for one person

My friend that did not grew up in Orange County wanted to go to Balboa Island. I knew they never tried the famous Balboa Bar. We went here to get one with chocolate and rainbow sprinkles. It tasted delicious with a hint of banana with the chocolate. I am surprise this place didn’t have as many toppings as another place I discovered on the island that had the Oreo cookie crumbs that I liked. It does not matter which place you get the famous Balboa Bar when its good everywhere there. My friend was instantly in love with the Balboa Bar after finishing this dessert: o)

Definitely satisfied the need for some funnel cakes and soft-​serve cones.

If you are in Balboa, stop here to get a Balboa Bar. You can’t not have a Balboa Bar when you visit Balboa.
Also, the churros are really good. Get a cup of frozen vanilla yogurt to dip it in. Deliciousness.

Got the Balboa Bar which is basically like a Klondike bar on a stick but isn’t as good. The place itself is a cute stand which sells every delicious fatty food you can think of. The people are nice. Dollar off Unilocal check in offer.

I wanted a corn dog and my husband wanted a frozen banana and what did we see before us? Balboa Beach Treats! Ok, yeah, so they have bad service. Its a food stand, though, and they have food stand food and food stand service. These types of places are fantastic and need to be here! It just wouldn’t be the same without these places around here. My corn dog was pretty darn good and my husband seemed to enjoy his frozen banana (horrible for people who have sensitive teeth — but so delish I kept trying!!).
Its a fun place to go to get a snack while waiting for the ferry or walking around the area.

I just came back from Catalina island, and what’s the first thing i wanted to get after a long and sweaty hike?! ice cream.(which is weird cuz i’m lactose intolerance) luckily, Balboa beach treats «BBT» was a few steps away from the ferry.
I opted for the Balboa Bar and my friend got the balboa bar with bacon.
you know how they always say bacon makes everything better… well, don’t believe the hype. It actually made the ice cream worse. the bacon wasn’t fresh and it was too salty. usually you can’t fuck something up that’s salty and sweet, but it was difficult to eat. i think my friend didn’t like it and asked if i wanted to try some. i did, and didn’t like it and threw away like 85% of the ice cream bar away. i imagine if the bacon was cooked fresh and then thrown on top of the bar, that might have been better.
as far as the balboa bar goes, its just an simple chocolate ice cream bar covered in sprinkles. its a nice treat for summer!
they also sell other foods, but to be honest… just come here for the sweets.

Expensive, but it’s Newport Beach, so what do you expect? Good frozen treats by the beach though — perfect for hot days. Make sure to use their Unilocal deal for $ 1 off anything if you go though!

We’ve had some gorgeous winter weekend days lately and nothing sounds better on a nice day than heading over to either Balboa Island or the peninsula and taking a ferry ride. The husband and I found ourselves walking the island headed straight for the ferry. Once across, we decided a treat was in order. We stopped at Balboa Beach Treats for a frozen banana (me) and an ice cream cone (him).
The frozen banana is SERIOUSLY frozen. They don’t mess around with their freezer. It took me about 45 minutes to eat the thing! It was covered in chocolate and dipped in rainbow sprinkles. Other options include chocolate sprinkles and peanuts. I’m clearly 5 years old, so rainbow sprinkles it was! The frozen banana was fabulous and I was actually FULL by the time I finished it. These suckers are huge!
The husband’s chocolate-​vanilla swirled ice cream cone was your average soft-​serve (always yummy on a warm day), but the cone really stood out. Maybe it’s because I don’t eat ice cream cones very often, but I was loving that cone!
The above items ran us $ 7 even. not bad for the peninsula! The only downside that comes to mind is the awful smell that lingers through the corridor around here. I definitely recommend walking elsewhere and enjoying your treats.

Yummy treats that you would find at the county fair or other places alike. I didn’t get a chance to try very many things but I’m a fan of their frozen chocolate dipped banana dipped in peanuts, although I wanted a corn dog! I just love to eat so at that point, everything looked good! I could see kids and adults of all ages enjoying little sweet treats here any time of the year.

I was starving and wanted something quick, there was like a million pizza places. I saw corn dogs and haven’t had one in a while so why not, it’s easy, cheap, and not messy.
I ordered 4 and a coke girl unit had 2 with ketchup and mustard, I had mine plain. The batter was nice and crispy on the outside and a little soft in the middle. To me this is a perfectly cooked corn dog. I hate when it tastes like burning after you bite into one. Burnt outside, overcooked inside. GROSS I don’t want a fortune cookie with a weenier in the middle.
Really satisfying. On the way home I stopped here and grabbed a chocolate vanilla swirl ice cream waffle cone. The ice cream was delicious. Even my girlfriend liked it and she doesn’t really like chocolate ice cream.
I definitely would get something to snack on again if I was in the area.
