Balboa Bay Resort

I am currently sitting poolside and I could not have had better service or drinks. Our server, Spencer, was always checking up on our drink needs :) Thoroughly enjoying my first time here at the Balboa Bay Resort!

Had the opportunity to spend some times at the Balboa Bay Resort and it was fantastic! Kat at the front desk was very knowledgable in assisting with all my questions. Everyone I met while there was extremely friendly and helpful. I spent an entire afternoon by the beautiful pool which was great. Spencer did an awesome job making sure my drink was always full and helped open an umbrella when the SoCal sun became too much. Great stay and I can’t wait to get back!

This is outstanding resort great location great staff great food unbelievable accommodations.
So why is it that the management puts on a car show for Father’s Day once a year and not one person on the staff can answer any questions about it?

When we arrived, the sun was shining and the valet was welcoming. We promptly checked in with friendly Kat. She was friendly and accommodating getting us the best available room. Getting the top floor with a perfect view of the pool from our huge balcony. The rooms here provide a Keurig station, mini bar stocked with complimentary water to name a few of the extras. I haven’t slept in the bed yet but it looks like a piece of heaven.

Stayed here many times but this time the front desk was the best by far… can’t say enough good things about kat lames. She is so sweet and nice. She’s a huge asset to this place.

The hotel was just redone the rooms are beautiful overlooking the bay. Service was exceptional. What a great 24 hour get away.

My boyfriend took me here for our 2 year anniversary and our stay was absolutely perfect! We got there early and got told that our room was not ready yet, we sat in the waiting area and 20 minutes go by and our room was ready! The people at the front desk were very friendly and made us feel very welcome; constantly telling us happy anniversary and congratulations.
When we arrived to our room there was a huge big beautiful bouquet of flowers, balloons, wine, a handwritten card and rose petals on the bed. It was all so very sweet and they did an excellent job, the bouquet of flowers were the most beautiful I have ever seen and the biggest! My boyfriend was very impressed as well he stated for those items it was $ 108 extra (for anyone that wants to do that) it was definitely worth it and such a sweet surprise.
The room was amazing very comfy and inviting. We were on the first floor with a king bed bay room view. At first we weren’t sure about the 1^st floor and that it might not be all that great but we were completely wrong. I loved being on the first floor because we can open our patio door and walk to the beach, it was just steps away! It was amazing! The staff here did such a perfect job on our room. I was obsessed with being able to just walk out to the sand instead of going down several floors.
The bathroom was great very nice the bathtub and shower were both a great size. The bed wow it was very comfortable even more comfortable than my own bed! Room service was fantastic and arrived very quickly! The waterline restaurant which is where we ordered from was very delicious and we even got complementary bread which was very yummy and such a surprise. We also got lots of sauces and dressing for our items without asking for it so we were very impressed with our order.
Everything about this hotel is wonderful and I never wanted to leave! We are already planning our next stay here for multiple days so we can enjoy it for longer. There are a bunch of cute little stores and multiple restaurants to enjoy.
The only downside, the self parking lot is very small they definitely encourage valet.

I stayed here on May 14^th 2016. I was greeted by employees and made to feel like I was at home. Balboa Bay was clean and everyone was courteous. Room were remodeled and looked very nice and inviting. I don’t sleep well when am not in my own bed, but my bed was very comfortable and the sheet were clean and soft. I got a good nights sleep. I had a room with the view of the bay. It was nice seeing the yachts in front of my room even though they were not mine. Food was good and tasty. I had the Halibut at Waterline and it was cooked just right. The restaurant staff was great and made the experience even better. I would recommend Balboa Bay to family, friends and colleagues.

5 stars for Charles! 4 overall!
I wish you had sarapes to cover ourselves with the chill coming in. The Hear the Bells drink was amazing! Charles suggested that. Shishito peppers were also great.

We stayed here for two nights last weekend and the rooms are wonderful. They are spacious, decorated beautifully, and have very comfortable beds. The resort is located very near the Pier, Fashion Island and movie theaters. We had planned on walking along the water but that is not possible in this area. It is a very short area in front of the hotel that you can walk and then there is dead end. The coffee shop in the hotel is very pricey– a tart was just over $ 9.00. And they love tacking on fees so your total bill at the end of your stay is a little shocking.

Balboa Bay really does care about customer service. They rectified the situation after the night. The manager I spoke with was very understanding and professional. The hotel really does pride itself in service. I recommend Balboa Bay highly for the fact that they do care about their guests.

We had a great experience and were pleasantly surprised by the recently refreshed rooms. Everything was clean and new… a big plus in my book! The mobile check-​in and out was easy to use and we had excellent service from hotel staff. While the hotel restaurants warrant separate reviews, I will just say we did have some service issues while dining at Waterline and A&O.
The pool and spa were great for relaxing and were never too busy. However, there was not as much attention paid to the cleanliness of the hotel deck. Overall, it’s a great hotel and we had a great weekend staycation.

Sorry for giving you 3. The resort has the best customer service, room is clean. I had the best view to the beach of course I pay enough for it. The only thing I am wondering and shocked was the food. we ordered Kobe burger 20& was horrible. we couldn’t sleep all night with the stomach pain.
I think the management must change the quality of the food.
Also pools are full of Clorox. it changed the color of my swimsuit. Very disappointed.
When I got my final bill in the morning there was a lot of charges like hospitality 25 $, assimilation 41 $. I will go and give you 1 star for not letting costomer know about those charges. very disappointed

Luxurious Resort on Balboa Bay in Marjner’s Mile. Very well appointed rooms with all amenities including bath robes, Keurig coffee and tea, Evian water. You will not be disappointed. Very hospitable valet and helpful with direction in and around Newport Beach, CA.

Checked in at 9pm only one person at counter on the phone … Finally addressed me and told me she was handling a upset customer. Checked in … Went to room called back down no awnser for 10 minutes … Had to call room service to get them to try the ft desk, they couldn’t reach anyone either … No one at concierge Bell desk either ask for a manager to call me back and someone called and said they were short-​staffed because of the time and it’s a slow time of the week no manager available… LOL too much… This is what you call a 4 star resort LOL !!? Ordered room service got a Cobb salad and a cup of soup $ 56 dollars later. So far not to Happy … at least the place is clean … Don’t think I’ll be back will see what tomorrow brings…
Would like all to know that on Check Out the Manager went out of there way to extend there apology for the issues I had and did everything the could to make it right… I will come back and stay again … I will also change my rateing to a 3 till next time and see if we can give a 5 star then…
Tuesday at check out …

I called Balboa Bay Resort my home for a whole week for a work conference. While the outside of the premises look outdated, the rooms were beautifully renovated. What a tease! I absolutely hate staying indoors at meetings all day! The surroundings of this resort are beautiful! You feel stinkin’ rich just walking by the water, surrounding yourself with mega-​million dollar yachts. It felt nice to play pretend while work picks up the tab :)
The rooms are renovated, modern, and clean! I think my favorite part about staying here were the toiletries! They supply you wish FRESH branded products. I think these are THEE BEST branded toiletries I’ve ever gotten from a hotel – so naturally I hoarded the refills. *insert thumbs up* My maid was also so nice as to include extra products for me when I told her I adored the products!

All in all, it was a pleasant stay and I’m glad I got to experience luxurious living in glitzy Newport Beach. Not sure if I’d return here as a normal citizen, but if relaxing is your thing… try this place out. And hoard the Fresh toiletries!

I was a member of the BBC back when it was private. The childhood memories I have because of BBC are priceless. Summer’s in the pool, on the beach and in the gym are the best. From swim lessons in the back pool to egg tosses on the lawn I’m so lucky to be a part of the club.
Now I visit the club and everything has changed. The stings are still cold and the water is still warm but I don’t know the players. I miss the old days and even get said when I think how it use to be but the fact is its still pretty nice. The staff and the service is 2^nd to none. The food is really good snd of course the place is gorgeous. I miss the old club but everything must change and the truth is this place is very nice.

Ive only been here an hour and Im already in Love. Needed a relaxing hotel for a staycation and boy did I hit the jackpot.
After many hours of research I found an amazing rate on Priceline. Upon arrival everyone has been great! Valet was super nice, Becca at check-​in gave us the room I could only wish for and the restaurant food was delicious.
Hotel is really modern, super clean and the pool is amazing. I cant say enough good things. The pictures don’t do this place justice, if you want it ALL… book your stay!

I booked a suite for my wedding here facing the water in the club tower. At $ 600 a night, I thought I would get good service. I was wrong. From the moment we checked in, my husband and I were excited. That is until we got to the room and actually experienced their style of customer service and luxury. TL;DR: stay somewhere else because it was not luxury or great customer service.
DIRTY ROOM: (1 star)
The room featured dirty and stained carpets. In our bathroom, I unrolled our bath mat to find a big grey footprint already on the bath towel. Um, this was cleaned and ready for someone to stay in? Probably not. I’ll use my own towel in my suitcase, thanks.
CHIPPED GLASSWARE THAT CUT MY MOH: (negative stars)
It was nice the room came with a free bottle of wine and 2 bottles of water. However, when we asked for extra glassware, they came chipped and cut my Maid of Honor’s lip open the night before the wedding. She was gushing blood for a while before we got it to stop. I was actually glad she hadn’t swallowed any glass from their shoddy glassware. Who serves chipped glassware to guests? That’s a danger. To their credit, they offered me a free night for that incident. However, actually collecting my refund from them was a complete and utter nightmare.
ROOM SERVICE AND GENERAL CUSTOMER SERVICE: (food: 5, service: negative stars)
When we ordered room service, the food was EXCELLENT. I loved the waffles and I loved the fit frittata thing. Those are 5 stars right there. The time they got it to us was decent. But when we called up for anything else– towels, a fan to cool the room since all the bridesmaids getting hair and makeup done was hot, extra glasses, plates to eat pastries off of, whatever, we had to call an average of 4 – 6 times over the span of 3 hours. No joke we would call an hour later and say um, we asked for some plates, are they coming? And then an hour after that… so those plates? I realize they had a lot of guests, but 3 hours is way too long to fulfill a simple request like forks. If you’re that busy and understaffed, call someone else into work that day. It’s management 101.
The bar downstairs had a wonderful bartender, though. I dug that spot the morning of our departure.
CONCLUSION:
All in all, the entire experience only had 3 bright spots– 1 the waffles, 2 the bartender was chatty and fun, 3– the view was great for pictures. Service sucked. I’ve literally received better service at a cheap hotel and that really shouldn’t be the case for the money you’re paying to stay here.

A beautiful resort in Newport Beach where you sort of feel like you’re in your own little world here. Mind you, it’ll cost you to feel this way because this place is $$$ woooo. The rooms are not incredibly larger than your standard hotel room, but the bathroom is very spacious and they have an amazing view of the ocean/​boats (or at least my room did). There are 2 buildings — the one on the right seems more updated than the one on the left — room wise (we had a boat wedding and utilized these rooms to prep ourselves — men in one building, women in the other). There’s a huge pool where you can just lay out and drink at.
On a side note, I do advise for you to pay attention to where your room is located because you can become quite lost with all the turns and corners in this hotel. Don’t dine in here — the food is ridiculously expensive and subpar, but great view and place to escape too.
Place is valet only — ATM is located inside.
