All About Training Dogs

Thank you Sherry for all the guidance in helping Lilly and I gain confidence around other dogs.
I have a 100 pound labrador that when on the leash turned into this ferocious dog. Lounging and barking at other dogs on our walks. It became fewer walks because of her behavior. We attended a 6 week course and by the conclusion Lilly was able to be on leash no chock chain and around other dogs with out any aggression. Sherry’s training approach through positive reinforcement was simple, easy and truly amazing. We use her training tips daily which have given Lilly and I a new leash on life. We do two walks a day! This morning we were able to pass a dog that was showing aggression towards her and Lilly was able to focus on me instead of the barking dog. The transformation has been amazing we can’t Thank you enough.

From start to finish, this business was unprofessional and rude. The actual dog walker consistently walked the dog less time than agreed. She proceeded to look around the house, in the garage and drawers. The final straw was the owners billing practices. She bills for two weeks ahead of the actual service. When I hadn’t paid in 48 hours after recieving the bill, she stopped all walks leaving me high and dry. My poor dog was left all day. I immediately sent a check. She neither started service again nor sent my money back.($ 120.) These are not the kind of people you should ever trust with the care of your dog. Dishonest, unreliable, thieves.

Sherry is a lifesaver. We have two rescued pit bulls and have had numerous trainers in the past that negatively reinforced aggressive behaviors (choke chains, shock collars etc). Sherry introduced us to an entirely new way of thinking about animal behaviors; a more intuitive, positive and loving way to manage our fur babies. She was organized, reliable and consistent in her training and empowered us with the right tools to understand our pups and modify their behaviors positively. We are now more aware of their triggers and feel secure with them in all environments. Thank you Sherry for transforming our deepest fears into an overall sense of security and confidence. Sherry is the best! She practices positive reinforcement. I had a small mutt that had anxiety, a fear bitter and had many issues. With 6 weeks of training sherry was able to build up Lucy’s confidence and correct the negative behaviors.

Sherry and her team are the best. They walk my dogs 2x a day 5 x a week. They treat my dogs as family members. The team is professional, on time, reliable and available on a short timeframe when emergencies have arisen. They communicate on a daily basis to let me know how my dogs are doing, and under her care they are always doing well. One of my dogs is slightly nervous but he loves Sherry and Mary. I am so happy I found them! They are gems!

Sherry is so organized and reliable. She understands dog behavior which is so helpful with our fearful Bichon. We love her so much and my dogs couldn’t be happier. Mary walks the boys everyday and has never cancelled once. She also leaves the sweetest, most thoughtful notes. Plus the prices cannot be beat. We are so lucky to have found them!

We LOVE Sherry! Our dog Bernie has a couple of issues: he’s reactive to other dogs while on leash, and he is a bit toy obsessed. Luckily, Bernie LOVES Sherry and will do whatever she asks of him! We actually got to the point where we couldn’t even take Bernie on walks anymore, because he would bark at every single dog he saw. In fact, there was a 13 month period where we did not go anywhere with him except to the dog park. We were pretty much at our wits’ end. Luckily, we found Sherry and she has taught Bernie to be a calm dog while he’s on leash and sees other dogs passing him. It has been a complete turnaround for him! This was really hard for Bernie, but with Sherry’s calm, patient training, he has done awesome! We continue to practice with him every time we’re on a walk.
As for his toy obsession, Bernie would bark constantly until we threw his favorite toy for him. Since we didn’t want him to bark and disturb others, we would throw the toy immediately, thus reinforcing this unwanted behavior: bark loudly and I get what I want. Sherry showed us many alternatives, and Bernie accepted them all! The best one is that we can walk around for quite awhile with Bernie being quiet, then we reward him by throwing his toy! Bernie brings it back to us, and we repeat. A nice calm quiet walk, then we throw the toy when we feel like it. Some of these things were tough for Bernie, but he has done really well and is improving daily!
Sherry’s method of training is the best! No yelling, no punishment. Just positive reinforcement and reward for completing whatever the task may be. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Sherry as a trainer. We love her and will continue to use her for all our pooches! Thank you Sherry!!!

I’ve had the pleasure of asking Sherry many questions about the proper way to train a dog and she has consistently provided me with good input and training tips that I can incorporate on a daily basis.

I am absolutely thrilled with Sherry. My dog is super hyper and was completely uncivilized. I needed more control of Brody and also need him to behave around my 3 children. He is Lab/​Boxer mix. Sherry not only helped Brody but also helped me be a better owner. If you have a pet in Orange County and need dog training then I highly recommend Sherry.

I needed help with my Border Collie puppy. Though he is as sweet as can be, he still had some trust issues that needed to be worked through because he was a bit traumatized when he was just weeks old. But my biggest issue is that he was a very, very strong puller. I couldn’t walk him without him nearly hauling me down the street like he was an Iditarod husky. At 8 months old, he was already so strong, that he could literally pull me off my feet and drag me. My shoulders, knees, and ankles were taking a beating. The last straw came when he pulled me so hard that I did a faceplant and nearly lost my front teeth when my face hit the sidewalk. Also, he was nipping and barking incessantly at strangers.
I had been taking him to daycare at Doggie Daycare… and More in Costa Mesa, and one of the owners, Roseann, told me about Sherry. I called her as soon as I got home and we started working out a plan. She was SO helpful and gave me some tools and resources to work with before we even met. When we finally did meet, she was absolutely awesome. I knew instantly that everything was going to be okay. She was calm, cool, collected, and so, so patient with US. My daughter and I were more anxious and nervous than our puppy (now 10 months old), and she instantly put our minds at ease. Kili (our dog) responded almost instantaneously to Sherry and her calm demeanor.
What I loved about Sherry from the get-​so was that she just put us at ease. She let us talk and explain our situation, she didn’t interrupt or make us feel as if we were doing anything wrong with him. In fact, quite the contrary, she built up our confidence as dog parents and made us feel as if we were on the right track. Things changed from the instant she arrived and have been wonderful since.
We have the tools necessary to keep a calm demeanor, nip any issues in the bud before they even become issues. Kili knows what to expect from us and he’s a sweet, calm, wonderful boy and getting better and better every day.
Sherry saved us from ourselves and gave Kili some awesome humans to work with who have the proper tools and resources and don’t feel like they’re at a loss. Kili doesn’t pull on our walks anymore. In fact, because of the advice Sherry gave us, walking him is the pleasure I always knew it could be. Also, he’s getting better and better at knowing WHEN barking is appropriate AND he’s great at knowing WHO is a stranger and who is a welcome guest in our home. It’s really a relief and a pleasure.

Sherry is a MUST. When I began researching dog training methods, I learned that the Karen Pryor «positive reinforcement» method is really what makes the most sense to me. Now, does that mean that it would work on my dog? The answer is a resounding YES, and I would not have gotten this far with my black lab had it not been for Sherry’s guidance and hands-​on help. Puppy and I work with Sherry on a weekly basis, beginning when he was about 9 weeks old, and Sherry not only works with the dog, but works with me to ensure that I know how to keep it all going. She has such a great, positive energy and knows so much about dogs and dog psychology and behavior. My Puppy is always so happy to see her, and so am I! Sherry has also been a support to me when there have been mini puppy emergencies (yes, they happen often!) and I have quick questions and I’m not sure who else to call or email.
