Plum Auto Works Inc.

OK so I looked for reviews of this place on Unilocal,before I went to look at a car. There were none. I thought that was odd. Turns out they have some nice cars there, however the people that run the place are crooks, and look out because the nice cars have a secret — there’s something terribly wrong with all of them.
Michael is the salesman. And he’s your typical «best friend» kind of old school salesman… hi buddy how you are… small talk you to death. He’s a liar.
So I drove the minivan I was interested in and it was nice, looked sharp, solid ride, etc and we get back to the shop and I go to test the electric sliding side doors, one works fine, the other one doesn’t open. Michael tells me they just got the car in and the door works just fine manually but the electric part doesn’t work but he’ll have his guys fix it up, no problem… they’ll take care of it… it will work 100% no problem. He boasts about how he put new brakes all around in a Lexus he just sold, he doesn’t care about how much it costs him, all his cars are 100% when the customer picks them up… bullshit.
So, I stupidly gave him a check and am supposed to pick up the car in a couple of days. The day I supposed to pick up the car, he calls. Oh there’s a problem… the door isn’t fixed… but his «friend» at a dealership will fix it for me… oh no he won’t, he won’t do a damn thing for me… meanwhile he already had taken my car as a trade in… so now what…
I go to the dealership, his «friend» won’t even talk to me, gives me to some flunky who could care less and told me no deal they can fix the door but it will cost me $ 1300. What?
So I call Michael, and he says oh no there’s been a mistake, his friend will fix it… there was a «recall» on the door and if I talk to the car company they’ll make good on it… another lie…
So, I take the van to another dealer and they tell me of course that there never was a recall on the door and there is no way the other dealer could have gotten it fixed for free.
So I call Michael and tell him I want the $ 1300 the door going to cost me… since before he had my money he said the cars are gone through completely and the car would be 100% working fine, that’s how they do business…
So, Michael says he’ll call me back… still waiting Michael… no call from Michael… now I’m out $ 1300 for the door…
So I googled Plum Auto Works and found 4 reviews on Better Business Bureau’s site… guess what all 4 said sort of same story… got a car that looked nice but had problems and as soon as they had the money the cars didn’t get fixed…
So, am taking them to court. If you want a similer experience I suggest shopping here… you’ll get to have fun swearing at a liar on the phone and you’ll meet some new friends at the repair shop when you get your car fixed and you’ll get to spend a bunch of money that will help the economy…
Here’s the reviews I found on Better Business Bureau site… I googled Plum Auto Works and reviews. I couldn’t find them directly on the Bureau’s site:
Number One:
I recently purchased a car from Plum Autoworks and it was not the best experience so I want to share my experience in hopes that others will avoid the same pitfalls. The reason I bought the car from them was that they had what I wanted and it wasn’t easy to find. I was in a rush due to travel commitments so I paid in full, up front with the agreement that some needed work would be complete by the time I was back to pick it up. Unfortunately this work was only partially complete and I didn’t learn about it until after I picked it up. I got a rejection sticker when I took it to be inspected, I had to put oil in the first week of driving (despite the fact that the sticker indicated a recent oil change), etc. They were not easy to deal with when trying to get them to cover the fix required to pass the inspection. I wasted a lot of time going to their mechanics, parts were never available, etc. In the end I got the car I wanted but it came with a lot of wasted time, money and frustration. In summary, my advice is this: 1) If you can find the same car elsewhere, maybe best to avoid these guys all together. 2) If you want the car from them, DO NOT PAY UNTIL THE CAR IS INSPECTED 3) Don’t trust their mechanics; if they do the work check to make sure everything was actually done properly
Number Two:
I negotiated a deal on a car with this business and we signed a P&S agreement, gave them a deposit and the title to my trade in. When I went to pick up the car, they would not deliver it saying it needed repairs first. After that they delayed a number of times and the owner will not speak with me. It looks like the deal was too good for me and they are reneging on it.
