I have to say appearance isn’t everything with this restaurant. The outside doesn’t say much but it’s a comfortable interior and the staff treat you like family right away. I admit that I’m not much of a Italian food connoisseur but from scanning the patrons of the restaurant I could tell that this place had a lot of returning customers and many of them have been there for decades. Father and Son run the kitchen while the mom handles the seating along with a few very sweet and knowledgeable waitresses. I had the calamari which was absolutely delightful, well seasoned not a hint of oil and serve along with fra diavolo sauce. The portion is generous it could be easily split with two people. I also had the house soup which was minestrone. For my entrée I got the Fruta De mare which is absolutely massive. I recommend you go ahead and knock out the shellfish before you try to get anywhere near the pasta. The sauce definitely had a kick to it which came on halfway through the meal and the past it was a great vehicle to enjoy the sauce with. I look forward to visiting again and try a couple of more dishes. Thoroughly enjoyed my visit. I should have worn stretchy pants.

The parking is a little bit to be desired, the service is good, the food is great, they handle large parties with ease it’s good to make a reservation for they seem to be busy all the time

This place has been around for a while. Hands down the best home made Italian food in this area. One of my faves!

Absolutely delicious. Not much for ambiance or décor, but the food is phenomenal! HUGE portions and very yummy. A little pricey but worth it.

With so any places that have opened over the last few years we have gotten away from coming here. Well today was my mother in-law’s 85th birthday and we asked her where he would like to go to dinner. She said she wanted to come here — and let me tell you we were all happy to be back!!! The food is still fresh and delicious with generous portions. With 10 of us we ordered quite a variety with a few special requests and everything came out just the way we wanted it. The chicken dishes were delicious, the veal cooked perfectly, the eggplant dishes so good you didn’t want to box it — opting instead to finish it there. Bridgette our server was quick with out refills and took care of all our requests. The owner checked in with us a couple times and all we could say was everything is good!!! So long story short — we have been away too long! Great food, family atmosphere right here. See you here again very soon!

Great homemade Italian food in Newburgh. Have been here bunch and lived off this food while renovation my house. Their chicken parm special is AMAZING. Very fresh. Good selection of wines and bar. Simple and home cooked, nothing fancy but good flavors, good prices and LARGE portions. Enough to eat for two or three days after. Very friendly staff and quiet dining atmosphere.

Another gal said about what I’ll say. The cooking is somewhat slow, but there’s nothing wrong with that if you enjoy good food. which is the most important thing for me in a restaurant. I had the fried zucchini with a garlic tomatoe sauce for dipping as an appetizer. Very hot, freshly made, and very delicious. I hadn’t been here for a while, so I go for the usual in comfort food main course(and use it as a test for new Italian restaurants). You’re only as good as your sauce and preparation. My favorite test dishes are either lasagna or veal parm. I had the veal parm, beautifully finished in the broiler and just couldn’t stop eating. Sipped on a wonderful, large glass of Chianti. Had to take the(delicious) tiramisu home, along with my leftovers(I eat half of everything to not eat so much and have wonderful leftovers). I stopped on my way back from Albany to NJ. Newburgh has some very nice Italian restaurants, and this is one of the best.

The food is worth the wait! The food here is excellent. I usually get the veal parm and you can here the chef(the owner and his son) pounding it thin in the kitchen. The bread is homemade and is simple but yummy. It does take a long time for the food to come out but if rather wait for food being prepared once I order it than having pre cooked food come out quickly. The restaurant isn’t large and doesn’t have modern décor but its the best Italian restaurant in the area.

Went there for lunch on Good Friday with family. The server was very nice and friendly. The service was timed just right. Not too fast or too slow. The food was delicious. I had the chicken parm and ravioli special and it was really good. It was very flavorful. The fried Zucchini and the fried Calamari was good too. It’s not a fancy place but it’s locally owned and operated and the food is very good! Go try it yourself.

I ate there with my oldest son and my wife and we had an absolutely outstanding lunch. We had the eggplant with Penne, ravioli with chicken parm and Chicken scampi over penne. My mouth waters each time I think about the food. Our waitress was wonderful and helpful without intruding on our meal. We had a salad(or soup) with the entrees, which were huge. I was like eating great home made food. raviolis were made fresh. Price was very reasonable. I’ve also had their gnocchi, also homemade, in a bolognese sauce.

After hearing rave reviews, my family and I went there last night. We stood there for 15 minutes, not being acknowledge with staff walking back and forth. It didn’t seem overly busy, but perhaps they were. I would have sufficed with a «we’ll be right with you». We finally walked out. First impressions are lasting impressions.

This place has good NY Italian food. The service maybe slow but the portions are big and the food is great. Past reviews criticized the waitress but I believe they got rid of the immature waitress and the service has improved. The setting is very simple but the food is good. The restaurant isn’t for fancy drinks or a fancy affairs but the food makes up for the lack of flair. Enjoy if your looking for good food and good prices.

It doesn’t look like much when you enter but the food speaks for itself, and is quite delicious! Excellent. Love the homemade Italian dishes. I’ve been here multiple times and it’s always good! Stuffed shrimp is awesome and the sauce is on their pasta dishes is so good. You always get a lot, possibly too much but no worries here just more to enjoy the next day.

We just left after a great dinner with friends. This place is far from fancy, but the food was excellent, very fresh. The salad could be better, and don’t come here if you are in a hurry. We had everything from veal to shrimp and we all enjoyed our food. We will be back!

Painfully slow service is offset by decent food. The entrees seem to be homemade. The rolls are unlike any others that I’ve eaten, and they are especially good. I was surprised that the air conditioning was kept as such a low setting. It was 90+ degrees today and a good 80 degrees in the restauarant. That just shouldn’t happen, and detracted from what would have been a nice experience.

Very slow service, sullen wait staff, and very mediocre food. Think the worst Italo-American and not the best Italian. We will never go back again, and that’s only 20% because of the food — more like 80% because of the service and staff.

Overall, the food here is pretty satisfying. Don’t go here if you’re looking for fancy ambience or «evolved» Italian dishes. The decorations are sparse, the building looks old, the food is simple, BUT it is pretty delicious for Newburgh. My husband and I started off with mussels in a light marinara sauce. Very simple, very fresh, very yummy. For entrees, I ordered the linguine in a white clam sauce, and my husband ordered chicken and Italian sausage in a tomato sauce over penne pasta. Both were homemade and good, and the portions were HUGE. I think 2 entrees would be plenty of food for 3 people. Despite the rather negative reviews on Unilocal,my husband and I tried out this place after it was recommended by a friend. The locals must know something that the Unilocalers don’t, because there was a surprising number of cars in the parking lot and people in the restaurant, given that it was a Wednesday night.

For Newburgh, this place should be a five. Great food all made to order, wonderful family owned restaurant, inexpensive and a great atmosphere. The onl reason I give it a four is because its somewaht slow. This doesn’t bother me at all, in fact I think its great to slow down and enjoy our meal, but other people might not think this was so great. SInce everything is made to order and baked fresh, including the bread, it takes a while for the food to come. But it is worth the wait.
