Cosimo’s On Union

We had a small dinner party for our Daughter’s 21^st Birthday. We called last minute in hopes of getting some space at Cosimo’s on Union. Spoke with Cristine and were immediately put at ease. We were lucky enough to hear the Wine Cellar was available. She was great. Very accommodating with every request. The word «NO» is not in her vocabulary. When we arrived we met Hailee. She took excellent care of us all afternoon. Very professional, polite and fast. Again, they don’t say «NO» at Cosimo’s. Just «Sure, absolutely, right away!» Can’t say enough about Hailee. Looking forward to another party. We will request Hailee.
We are Italians and are picky. The food was excellent. Fresh, Hot and generous portions. We really loved the atmosphere and privacy of the Wine Cellar. Highly recommend Cosimo’s for a party, or for lunch or dinner. The value for the money is excellent. Long time customers. Thanks again to Cristine for making our party a great success!

I’ve eaten at the Middletown location and loved the pizza, but heard I needed to go to the original location. I was very happy to find out that the pizza was consistent and equally as delicious. My entire party ordered a pizza and each one looked better than the next so I won’t tell you which one to try. I will say the ambiance is better in Middletown, but it could be where we sat. Also, the neighboring table didn’t enjoy their appetizers or entrees so maybe stick to pizza…

I was quickly seated. I ordered a small Caesar salad with anchovies, a New York strip steak with compound butter, broccoli rabe, and Italian croquettes. The salad was fresh with shaved Parmesan and coated with dressing but overly done. The steak was just at medium and the compound butter complimented it perfectly. The broccoli rabe was cooked crisp but could of used some seasoning. The croquettes were great.
I would definitely go here again.
Also the first time I’ve seen the unique tesla parking.

It’s a 4* review, but they get a bonus star for Tesla parking. Yes, I’m serious. The more I can do to encourage more chargers, the better!
Very much in line with e.g. Bertucci’s but a more home-​made feel, semi-​chain. Service well above normal: highly welcoming all round, perfect level of attention, glasses rapidly refilled, unblemished.
First visit, so only a couple of food items, but I liked that their pizza was heterogenous: scattered clumps of sauce rather than a thin layer; high quality toppings. The prosciutto flatbread was especially tasty and fresh. Very solid; very glad to have such a place to stop off while charging.

Food was fine, atmosphere was fine, but the service was so terrible I’ll never go back. The busboy was sticking a pen up his nose and making the waitress laugh, so they were too busy to help us. Then they forgot to put our kids pizza in the oven so the adults ate before the kids — not smart for a fun dining experience. Then they added a 20% gratuity to the bill as though the service had been acceptable and argued with us when we tried to change it to 15%. Welcome to dining in Newburgh I guess, stay far away.

Great, classic italian food. Can get a little crowded on weekend dinners, but otherwise a great spot. Location isn’t the prettiest (right next to a big road) but the food makes it all worth it.

Cosimos is a pretty decent Italian restaurant with multiple locations in the Poughkeepsie/​Newburgh area. Admittedly the only times I’ve been here have been for work related dinner meetings. They typically have us sit downstairs in a larger meeting room with a projector screen for PowerPoint presentations. Service has always been excellent and I have no complaints about that. The food itself is average at best. We are usually presented with a limited menu and on this occasion I opted for a pork dish with a side of spinach and vegetables. It definitely lacked some flavor and could have been spiced up a little or covered with some sort of sauce or glaze. I’m a bigger fan of their appetizers (calamari, portobello mushrooms, etc). In terms of overall quality, there are far better options locally but Cosimos is still worth a try. There’s been nothing bad about it, just not a place I’d go to on my own
Coolest thing is that they have Tesla power stations outside of the restaurant in the parking lot. Not sure why they chose there of all places to place them, but if I get a Tesla one day I will know where to go

I keep coming to this place but never actually wrote a review until now. Normally what we get is a serving of fried calamari and a pizza. I haven’t had better calamari without going to a place closer to the ocean and pizza is always hot, crispy, and delicious. I rarely get anything else but the few times I have, like pasta or dessert, it is always excellent. The place has been around for over 20 years and I’ve never been let down by them.

Met a good friend here for an early dinner as I was passing through the area. Liked the ambiance immediately. Classy. Had a choice of dining outside (too noisy as the restaurant is on a main road and it was rush hour) or in one of two rooms inside. We chose the smaller, quieter room that you enter as you come into the restaurant.
We both ordered the Eggplant Parmesan. We specially requested garlic and oil on the rigatoni instead of tomato sauce. Delicious. Their authentic, flavorful sauce tells me that everything here is homemade with great care. It was just about the best sauce I have ever eaten in a restaurant. The eggplant was very good as well — just the right cut, and enough to take home for 1 or 2 other meals (!).
The server was perfectly attentive. Our beverages and food came out within a reasonable amount of time.
I would like to make mention of their bathroom. OK, just the Ladies Room. It was sparkling clean and very inviting. One of the nicest restaurant bathrooms I have ever experienced. Deserves mention. What can I say?
There is more than ample parking, and even a Tesla charging station right outside.
Coming from NJ where Italian restaurants are a dime a dozen, Cosimo’s is a gem. I will make a point to return there when traveling as it’s only a few minutes from the NYS Thruway.

I LOVE THIS RESTAURANT! When I come to visit the area I stop by and eat least 2 times for lunch and dinner. The servers are excellent and management is even better, I recommend Cosimo’s to anyone who likes great food :)

I didn’t expect this place to be as upscale as it was but as I pulled in and saw Tesla charging stations I should’ve figured it out. Walking in I almost felt like I should’ve dressed nicer (don’t get me wrong, I was in clean jeans and a nice causal button up shirt) but we were welcomed right in and felt comfortable. You pass the kitchen on the way in featuring the wood fire pizza oven.
I had the 4 cheese calzone and it was huge! It was very tasty and since I also got a house side salad I took half of it home for lunch tomorrow. They had large wine list and I had the house Cabernet sauvignon which I liked.
Prices were not outrageous. Three meals and one glass of wine cost me $ 54 (not including tip). I thought it was going to be more.
If I’m in the area I will definitely try it again.

Food is really good but manager and hostess are horrible. Restaurant was packed and the hostess totally overwhelmed giving misleading information to customers. Twice she said our table was just being cleaned up and then people went in front of us because they’ve called ahead.
I don’t have a problem waiting, if I choose to wait, but don’t like to be told «your table will be ready soon» to later be told «it will be a 25 minute wait.
Then the hostess called the manager, I supposed, and she came over and just stared at us for a few seconds then tried to explain that we would have to wait but again, she came by and said the table was almost ready.
When she walked us to our table she was very sarcastic saying «I’m sorry you’re upset for waiting a few minutes… is Saturday and people call ahead. «. I once again told her that I don’t mind waiting as long as I’m told I will wait.
The dinning room was disgusting and the waitress clearly embarrassed to see the giant puddle of something that was spilled under our table that she promptly tried to clean up. She was great and food was good but we will probably won’t come back to see the rude manager and poor trained hostess.

My order: Pizza margherita, shiraz, cannoli & coffee.

Food review: Everything was delicious, and our Italian friend said the espresso was just like in Italy! The first of all the ones he’s ordered in his time here in America.

I love going to Cosimos whenever I’m in Newburgh! I love their spicy chicken fusilli, pesto, and pizzas. It’s one of my favorite restaurants in the area.

We were away for a long weekend visiting colleges and have relied on Unilocal to find good places to eat. This was one of them. Very friendly staff greeted us right away. Waitress came very quickly to take our drink order. We all had pasta and it was delicious and cooked perfectly. If our daughter ends up going to school in this area we will definitely be back.

Great place, great food and great people! Alicia was our waitress and took great care of us!!! We explained that we are from Houston, TX and here for our anniversary. Not only did we get all star service but they treated everyone like VIPS! We had the chopped salad and Margarita pizza with garlic and it was fantabulous! Oh, did I mention that the floor manager was the best? We will definitely return!!!

This was the greasiest meal I’ve ever had. I ordered the salmon, which was indicated as the heathy choice and it arrived swimming in oil. Protect your arteries, don’t eat here!

Great Place! The Pizza is great, and the Italian dishes are great too! I went here with my family after graduation, and for a work holiday party in the basement, and then again with a group of 20 students from work. They are great with accommodating groups and fixed menus.

Went here for the Second time for a family party. I fully enjoyed myself. The Service was great as well as the food!

I have been coming to cosimos for more years then I can remember. It’s my favorite restaurant and consistently produces a great experience — food and service. Definitely worth a try! You will not be disappointed!
