Tatum Custom Woodwork has been committed to excellence in the Gainesville, Florida area since 1982. Chris Tatum is the founder and owner of Tatum Custom Woodwork. Chris Tatum is a craftsman of fine custom furniture, custom kitchen cabinets and woodturning. He specializes in custom-​made hardwood furniture. Chris has added a new dimension to his woodworking, in January 2012 he bought a lathe and is now doing woodturning. He is an artist in every since of the word. Chris has great ideas and will strive to make heirloom quality pieces. He will help design to size, style, wood and finish of your preference. History

Established in 1982.

I am a self taught woodworking professional. I was hooked on woodworking at an early age. At the age of 24 with two small children and a wife I came to Gainesville, Florida in 1978 to pursue a dream of having my own business. I knew I needed to work for myself. I started out on a wing and a prayer with the help of some friends who let me work out of their garage.

In 1979 I purchased some property in the county outside of Newberry, Florida. I built the first phase of my woodworking shop a little at a time while working at Hunter Marine in Alachua, Florida building cabinets for sail boats. In the eighties I built custom kitchen cabinets for Tommy Hunt and had several custom kitchens and baths in the Parade of Homes.
