History

Established in 2010.

Will Hurd started footprint architecture & design with the goal to effectively reduce our impact on the environment through thoughtful and collaborative design solutions and education. Working with the community, he wants to make every building in New Castle County carbon neutral by 2030 and net-​zero energy by 2050.

He also believes that your problems — be they physical, social, or cultural — have an effective and sustainable architectural solution found through a thoughtful and collaborative process.

Meet the Business Owner

Will H.

Business Owner

Will H originally studied to be an engineer to build robots. He ended up a programmer instead. The through a series of life events, decided to try architecture school. He went to Drexel University, and eight years later, graduated. He’s been working in the Wilmington area since 1998 for several firms on commercial, institutional, and historic restoration projects. In the downturn he was laid off, and decided to start his own firm to allow him to work directly with the clients. His strong interest in sustainable and climate-​appropriate design has formed the basis for his work.

He also runs a booth at farmer’s markets in the summer at Newark Natural Foods, Kennett Square, and New Garden PA, answering questions for a quarter.
