Pros: Best mom&pop spanish restaurant, wide variety of authentic cuisine(I go here every time I crave spanish food, has a homey feel to it, no parking lot but there’s some street parking in front of the restaurant(I usually order on the phone and then pick up and since McDonald’s is right across the street from the restaurant I usually park in their parking lot). Service is sometimes slow(so park right before you get a ticket) long but worth the wait, nice music and the owner is always there to greet you with a smile. Two tv’s. Extremely affordable and it’s a BYOB too if you’d like to have wine or so with your food(the liquor store is located right across the street by the McDonalds on the right hand side) I had white rice(arro blanco), pinto beans(frijoles) and pork chops(chuleta) and pulled pork(pernil) also the chicken(pollo) and beef(carne) empanadas. Chicken stew(pollo asado) and beef stew with potatoes(carne con papa), fried yuka and fried plantations(manduros) are a great choice as well. To drink I recommend there coffee and milk(café con leche) and soda(inca kola) Cons: No parking lot, slow service, sometimes rude servers that don’t speak English Over-all this is a great take-out spot

its really a mom and pop kind of restaurant nothing special. pretty old décor with plastic table covers. The arroz con Gandules is dominican style which has pepper and i think cumin but it tasted burnt My meat with onion was really good and the beans was great. The beans is like our moms used to make it so it’s feels like home. The service was a little slow but they came when you called the people behind the counter. My coffee was really good.(as you may see from my other posting coffee is my thing). over all it was just an ok experience — nothing special in flavor, décor, or service ‚ but if you like watching Spanish tv while you eat then go here lol they have two big TV’s, one on the counter facing the tables lol but personally i have better dominican food.

I use to come here all the time. The people are nice that take the orders. The food is good. Now a couple of weeks ago I went and I was waiting on my change I saw a Baby Cockroach!!! Like really??? They could crawl all over the food. Let’s just say I went home and didn’t even finish the food, which I always devoured.

4 stars — food and flavor! 3.5 stars — location Ah yes Dominican food! I guess I have a thing for Spanish food! When we’re in the mood for some steak w/onions, sweet plantains, rice and beans… We make the trip to north Newark to enjoy food here. It’s also byob and a liquor store is directly across the street. This place reminds me of Dominican style restaurants in the BX.

I used to go to this place all the time. Then I moved, but it is worth going if you’re in the neighborhood. It is cozy, the prices are good, the people are friendly. Were friendly. I haven’t been there in years so it’s a belated review, but they deserve some cred. My rating is based on a comparison of that neighborhood’s restaurants. Just wondering why there aren’t that many reviews. Oh wait, I know why, never mind.

Best DOMINICAN restaurant in the whole North Newark… Prices are excellent… Is right across from McDonald’s and Twin City supermarket … Is $ 5 for a order of delicious food… I usually order the stew beef w the rice with gandules… It always feels like a home made plate of food… I wish I could put more stars than 5 is a must have
