I was a patient of Tri City Optometry from 2009 – 2012. I left my job in the area and found optometry service in San Mateo where I live. I liked the office and found them friendly, caring and professional. However, I have two concerns I recently learned of that I feel important to voice to other consumers:
1. My eyes were never dilated as part of the annual eye exams I had at Tri City Optometry. Instead a high-​tech retinal laser mapping picture was taken of the eyes. Dr. Chatwani even discovered some «drusen» in my right eye using the procedure and advised how important it is to monitor the drusen annually.
But I recently learned the retinal scan is limited and the whole retina cannot be viewed using the procedure. The optometrist I see now highly recommended eye dilation to see the whole retina adequately since I told her I had not had my eyes dilated in 25+ years. She also recommended I obtain from Tri Cit Optometry the retina images of my eyes so she could compare the drusen on my right eye documented from 2009 – 2012 with my recent eye exam which leads to the second concern.
2. Tri City Optometry did not have the images of my retina taken between 2009 – 2012. Not only is that a violation of California law (medical providers must keep records for no less than 7 years), but now I don’t have a record whether the drusen deposits of my right eye have progressed since 2009 or not.

I came here again after it turns out my glasses were causing contact dermatitis (according to the dermatologist, most likely the plastic frame, since those were the glasses I was wearing). I let Jodi know after my exam, and she suggested an Asian fit frame (still plastic though). I paid a lot (again) for glasses because they fit way better than the old pair I got here last time, which kept falling off my face, and the constant falling/​me pushing them back up is probably what caused the dermatitis… makes sense. However, I should’ve insisted on metal frames because the contact dermatitis has worsened. Now I’m painting $ 300+ frames (what I paid after insurance coverage deductions) with clear nail polish (the only solution they offered, when I let them know it really wasn’t preventing the dermatitis) so it’ll stop irritating my skin. The doctors are all nice and knowledgeable, and Jodi was really nice and really good at finding frames that fit your face, but I won’t be buying glasses here again.

I had been a patient of Dr. Stella Levin for years… then she left her previous practice and I didn’t know what happened to her! Then I found her at Tri-​city Optometry! I was happy to have found her, and «followed» her to her current practice. There I was reunited with Dr. Levin, who has always given me the most outstanding service and care. She also takes a personal interest and inquires about my family, etc. What a joy it is to have Dr. Levin as my optometrist again! I must also add that I have now met Jody, who takes care of everything associated with assisting the doctors and patients. She has given me friendly, outstanding service also. Last, but not least, Dr. Chatwani gave me the warmest greeting with a beautiful smile! I highly recommend this practice!

It’s my 1^st time here. I received excellent service. Dr Chatwani is very friendly and want what’s best/​suitable for me and not try to make the most money out of me. She gave me options for my contact lens and gave me samples to try it at home so I can choose the one I feel most comfortable with. I have never been given samples to try at home at other places. Then Jodie helped me pick up a frame that fits me well and within my budget. Again, not trying to make me spend tons of money. I appreciate the service and professionalism. Highly recommended!

Dr. Chatwani is so good at what she does my husband is 52!
There is no perfect business sometimes staff will make mistakes but what I can say is this Dr. knows what she is doing when my husband came to her about 2006 she saw something in his eyes and sent him to a specialist immediately and turns out he had lymphoma but because she was thorough it was treated early and he is now 52… I can never say enough about this professional caring Dr. So remember you are not perfect either and her staff is very nice however sometimes things can happen not on purpose but at the end of the day who doesn’t want an eye Dr. that is so good she might catch something that could save your life… or the one you love… I will never use anyone else as long as I have a choice… I am thankful for Dr. Chatwani and if I could give her 10 stars I would. Trust her I do!

Yesterday was my first visit. I was a new customer and I am so glad I switched from my previous optometrist. Dr Chatwani is very thorough and professional. She takes her time and you can tell she really loves her job. They have a great selection of frames and Jodi is so wonderful in helping pick out frames if you need it. I definitely needed help and she was really patient and gave honest feedback. I soooo appreciate that. It was the main reason I left the previous place. They had a terrible frame selection and no one helped. Jodi also made sure I got the best deal from the insurance and went over all the various upgrade options very carefully. So happy with this place. Can’t wait to get my new glasses!

I used to be going there with my family for the last few years. Of late, they don’t seem to care about the patients. They had really good people at the front desk to help with glasses and appointments. Those folks seemed to have left. The new hires are a bit slow, no welcoming smile, nothing. The doctor seems to be aware of this and she is doing double duty of taking care of the patients as well as manning the front desk plus calling patients about arrival of frames, etc.
Recently for a new frame that I ordered, I had to visit them 3 times as the glasses kept falling out of the frame within a day or two. Finally they said that they will order a replacement frame as perhaps there was an issue with the frame itself. They ordered one. I thought of getting a full eye checkup for the family, and use the new frame for the new prescription. I wanted an appointment before the start of school. They could find a slot for 2 people but would not squeeze in a 3^rd person which would have allowed me not to take time away from work on multiple days. Anyway getting the front desk to sort this appointment was painful.
I have a feeling that they have more than enough customers and in fact don’t even care for existing ones. No more Tri-​city Optometry for me.

Dr. Chatwani reviewed my case and helped resolved my situation. She did the extra mile to notify insurance so that I may qualify as medically necessary. She worked things out for me and for this I’m happy.
Jodi and the team was courteous. I’m happy that they helped arranged for my reimbursement.
I got my Duettes contact lenses from them. However, I still have to get my eyeglasses somewhere else because their lab are unable to make the glasses I want, which is high index 1.74 due to my very high prescription. I heard it’s hard to find the labs that are able to do it.
Because I was pleased with the resolution, reimbursement and service they showed, they deserve the extra stars.

you can’t get anyone better than Jodie to help you pick out the right pair of glasses. Her attention to detail & her years of experience shine through. These new pair of glasses she helped me get are absolutely the best pair I have owned — 1.74 high index lenses & great pair of frames to hide away all the extra thickness. Thank you Jodie!

Dr Chatwani is very professional and the staff is very courteous. Our family has been seeing Dr. C for many years. We are extremely happy with the service and wonderful care we receive at every visit.
The selection of eye glasses is diverse for both adults and kids. I just love the sunglasses I recently got and get compliments on it pretty often.
I highly recommend this office for your optical needs you will be extremely happy guaranteed!

I went in for an appointment last week and as always the service was excellent. Dr. Chatwani really cares about her patients. They have a new piece of equipment that takes pictures of the back of your eye. Through this machine Dr. Chatwani is able to catch diabetes along with other serious medical issues. The fact that she takes the time to go beyond the average eye checkup fascinates me. She is someone that truly loves what she does. I’ve been coming here for years and I’ve never been disappointed.

I have been really happy with this office. I’ve been coming to them since 2013. The front staff are incredibly friendly and patient. I have come in recently for some eye problems and Dr. Rardin (she works only on Fridays). really took the time to examine my eye thoroughly and provided drops to help the issue. I have also bought glasses here. Their selection is pretty good with affordable prices with glasses made by Ray Ban, Calvin Klein, Dolce and Gabbana, etc. i would recommend this office to others.

Both my husband and I have been going to Dr. Chatwani’s office for eye exams and each time, we get excellent service and care! The staff is very helpful in picking out the right frames to fit your face. Love going there!

This is still the best optometry office. The staff is helpful and friendly. Every time I go in I feel like family.

Let just say, Dr. Chatwani herself is great — no issues there. She’s kind, professional and efficient.
But year after year, I find myself chasing after appointments, following up and leaving message after message with ridiculous lack of follow up. I’ve even been hung up on a few times. I’d like to think it’s been on accident, but the lack of professionalism is unacceptable. And this is over the last 5 years… never mind not ever being invited to trunk shows (despite my friends I’ve referred to them being invited) and again, no return phone calls.
Sad but true — finally moved the whole family on this year.

So. I finally got my glasses BUT when I sat down to tried them on, one of the nose piece was missing. The girl working, Veronica replaced it with the generic silicon version which were SUPER uncomfortable. Since I paid full price for my glasses, I expect to get what I paid for, so eventually she found another pair of similar glasses and took that nose piece to replace for me.
After some adjusting and what not, I noticed that the left side of the lens were scratched. I told Veronica and she said she will have their distributor make another lens for me and I can either go back in for them to replace or it can be shipped to me since I live quite far.
BUT, it been more then a week… never heard a word from them to see if they really put in that order.
I would NEVER recommend this place to anyone! The only thing they did was gave me back a portion of the money I paid because of the inconvenience that I went through. NOT WORTH IT.

Short story: It’s been 2 months, where are my glasses!!!
Long story:
I came here many years ago and completely forgot about this place until I got an email inviting me to a special event with food and designer glasses vendors. The event was very good, I got plenty of Mexican food, sangria and desserts. The vendor I talked to was great, and helped me find a pair of glasses that fit my face. I ended up ordering a pair. I was told that I would get my glasses within 2 weeks. However, 2 weeks passed and I didn’t get a call. Since it was over Christmas and New Years, I assumed people would be off, or the store was closed, and it would take longer.
After a month from the date I ordered them, I never got a call. I finally called them on a Saturday. They said they would check and call me back on Tuesday because they were closed on Mondays and their vendor was not opened on Saturdays. Tuesday came, still no call. I called and left a message. Thursday came, no one called me back. I called again and someone asked if I could be placed on hold. I waited about 5 minutes, hung up and called back. I guess they forgot I was on hold. This time I spoke with Goolie (sp?) said she my frames were back ordered. I mean, to me, it would have been nice it they actually called me back and let me know. She said she was going to see if she could get me the demo pair and it would be ready in 5 business days. Goolie (sp?) apologized and said she would give me $ 25.00 off for the inconvenience. 5 business days passed and no one called me. Again, I had to call. Goolie apologized and told me that the distributor making my lens was behind and that she would give me $ 50.00 off instead. She was able to get them to rush my order so I was able to pick it up in a few days.
The day I went in to get my glasses, Goolie did give me the $ 50.00 off, but I noticed my frames were kind of scratched. For spending almost $ 400.00 and waiting for over a month, I expected new frames, not used ones with scratches. Goolie apologized and said she was going to order me new frames and that I could use the current ones until they get new frames.
Another 2 weeks later, again, no one followed up with me. So I called on a Saturday to see what was going on and Goolie told me she was going to check on it Tuesday since their vendor isn’t opened on Saturdays and they’re closed on Mondays. (Note: I usually call Saturdays/​after work hours because I am very busy at work).
Overall, their customer service is only good in person, terrible when you’re not in the store. No one ever follows up to let me know where my glasses are. I have spent numerous times calling them for update on my glasses. Honestly, if I knew it would take over 2 months to get a pair of glasses, I wouldn’t come here. I have never been to an optometry where my glasses have taken more than 2 weeks. Honestly, I would have just told them to refund me, but because I know how it would be a bigger hassle to deal with insurance to get my credit back, I’ll just keep them.
Come here if you’re willing to wait years for your glasses, other than that, don’t bother.

I went to this place for the last few years
We (me and my family) were happy with the other optometrist in this office, but last year
Dr. Chatwani checked our eyes and we were not happy with that visit at all…
First she is not professional at all, second when her assistant was helping us with the frame, She told her that she spent too much time with us and «this is not all day event» we needed to order 4 pairs of glasses (me and my kids) she was verrrrry rude and she gave us a look that we get those glasses for free.
Shame!
Her office staff are very nice and I feel very sorry for them to work with Dr. Chateani!
We will not go there AGAIN!
Now I am going to Kaiser and they are very professional. Go Kaiser YAHHH!
