Awesome service! Chris not only did a regular service on my Ninja, but found all types of hidden issues made with it by the previous guys. And fix it. He forgot to change my air filter and even bring me back again and redo it for free!

I heard many great things about Shears from friends of mine who have been riding for awhile. I finally had the chance to see for myself when I brought my motorcycle in to get serviced. When I walked in and met Chris he started off with a firm handshake and a rundown of what he was going to do and how much it was going to cost. An utmost professional guy with an affable attitude. From the very beginning of handing over the keys, you feel like your ride is in good hands. When I came to pick her up the next day Chris went over everything he worked on and I noticed he went the extra mile to make sure she was in good riding condition. He even fixed one of my mirrors that was twisted out of shape! Overall the best experience I’ve ever had in any shop.

Chris has been servicing a long line of my crappy motorcycles and ATVs for several years now. He is as good as it gets. He is very direct, honest and a pleasure to deal with. He seems to always make time to check out a problem, even if he’s swamped (which he usually is). He doesn’t try to price gouge on parts, either and he’s upfront about what your costs will be. Also, my sons think he’s great — whenever one of our bikes needs to go there, they always want to come with me to see his shop. He’s been doing this work forever, and really knows his stuff.

Long story short: bought an r6 with a lot of problems. Chris fixed everything for me with a very reasonable price.
Chris is such a kind hearted guy he know what he is doing, he does not bs, most importantly, he will take care of your bike as it is hes own bike, thats how serious he is.
I am in tears when i saw my piece of junk bike becomes a beauty again. Q. Q thanks again big man Chris.

I can not truly say enough good things about Chris in this review to get the point across. The man is kind hearted, straight forward and will do his utmost best to let you know what is wrong and correct it. He is the Wizard of motorcycles. I had a really bad experience with my old mechanic in Hayward and I now take my 2006 GSXR to Chris at Shears. He was recommended by my truck mechanic who has known him for decades. I have not regretted the decision to take my motorcycle to Chris. He has twice done to my bike what I thought was impossible.
The other night I had an emergency situation where I had my tank powder coated and when trying to put the sending unit back on, two bolts snapped in the tank! I have a 1400 mile ride Tuesday of this week and was not going to be able to go. I called Chris Saturday afternoon to leave a voicemail and let him know I need an emergency repair on Monday. Chris called me Saturday night and had me go down to his shop and he bored out and re-​tapped the gas tank like nothing I’ve ever seen any craftsman do. He then used his own material for the new o-​ring and also properly sealed the tank on the sending unit. He did it all in 24 minutes too! Tell me what person would receive a call like that and offer to help you out when they are not even supposed to be in the shop? Will not go to any other mechanic for the bike now.
Please be aware that Chris is CASH ONLY and will do his best to work with you. If you have doubts about the work of other mechanics, or are in what you think is an impossible situation, please do yourself a favor, spare the headache and see Chris!

Chris rebuilt the top end of my 1967 Honda Trail 90. Parts are sometimes hard to come by but Chris managed to get everything needed and more. Chris went the extra mile cleaning up parts, replacing bad items not on the order etc. Really great job! The bike runs like new, couldn’t be happier and when I got the bill it was only $ 30 more than quoted, money well spent.

I had a pleasure to work with Chris to fix my 2003 Honda VTX (it had many issues) and it was such a great experience. I had him change my tyre’s, install a new exhaust and tune the bike. It came out really awesome. I would highly recommend him for any motorcycle fixes. @ Chris, thanks for wonderful job. I’m very glad that I found you who really knows bikes !

I did not have a lot of work to be done on my motorcycle but other shops were charging a whole lot. Chris understood exactly what I wanted and fixed my motorcycle charging much lesser. I carried my pillion seat to ask him if he had extra nuts to fix it, he helped me fix my seat at his shop without charging me for it. Chris is a nice guy. Great guy… great service.

Chris is an awesome guy! Very friendly and was patient in answering any newbie questions I had. Went in for a quick service and accessory install (Suzuki SV650S) and he charged less than other places I called. The guy is very knowledgeable across a wide range of bikes and is very meticulous with his work. I definitely plan to bring my bike back for my valve tuning maintenance. Like another reviewer said it is CASH and by appointment only so plan ahead. Great and honest mechanic, would recommend!

We needed to have the carburetors rebuilt after our bike sat for too long. Chris was friendly, got the bike fixed up quickly and was fair in what he charged for the work. Not only that but since it gushed gas when we started it we weren’t able to ride it over, Chris came over and picked up our bike and took it to his shop. Great place to take your bike if you need work done. Thanks Chris!

I needed an oil change and a few small things done to my bike, so I searched Unilocal to find an honest, reasonably priced, and reliable shop. Chris Shears seems to offer all of those things. I called Chris to see if I could bring my bike in and he told me to bring it right over, so I rolled in around 5:30. I noticed the sign on the shop stated that he would be closing at 5:30, or 6:00 (I forget which one). Regardless, he was still willing to work on my bike. I was worried that there was some oil leaking, but he knew right off the bat what it was. Turned out to just be the splooge tube… haha splooge tube… Anyways, he went ahead and serviced my bike, explained what needed to be done, lubed my chain for free, and charged me a very reasonable price. Just know ahead of time that it is CASH ONLY. I didn’t know this beforehand, so I ended up going to an ATM to get money. Overall, great experience. I would definitely recommend this shop. He’s an honest man and very knowledgeable. He doesn’t do much advertising, so if you get some work done at his shop make sure to leave a review; it may help him out.

5 Star! Chris is great!!! I just took my honda shadow out there to change out my rear tire. Had no issues. He was also kind enough to change out my clutch lever for free, lube up my chain, and show me how to check oil =). I’ll definitely recommend him to anyone!

First off, Chris is a great guy. I have been dealing with him for years when he was a mechanic at another shop. He truly knows bikes in and out, and rides his own bike daily. He is a character too, a real pleasure to talk to.
To tell you the truth, I think he has been working on motorcycles since the first harley rolled off of the factory floor.
His mechanical skills and bike knowledge are second to none, a walking and talking motorcycle encyclopedia.
I will always bring my bikes and my kids bikes to him as long as he is around!

Chris does good work and his prices can’t be beat. I’ve moved pretty far from his shop but I still go back when my bike needs work that I can’t handle myself. You’ll pay double to get your bike fixed anywhere else.

Chris Shears is a good guy and runs a legit shop in Fremont. I personally like the fact that you deal with Chris and only Chris. I was having a hard time finding a shop to swap out my dirt tire to a paddle for a trip to Pismo on such short notice. I gave Chris a call and he said not a problem come on down and I’ll take care of you. When I arrived he swapped out my tires for me and when he was done we hung out and talked for awhile, from this conversation it showed me that Chris wants to have a good relationship with his customers. I take my bike to Chris if I need a solid service done to it or if it’s something that’s out of my league. He explains to you why you should do it and gives you different options. I also order parts from Chris as his prices are as good as the prices online. Use Shears Cycle, you won’t be disappointed. Keep our local shops open.
