On a company business trip and wanted to eat Sarku. I could of chosen to eat at a steak house but I hadn’t have rice for a while. This place seems like anywhere else and delivers the same quality of service and meat like the other location that i’ve been too. They do charge just a tad more for doubling up on your meat.

The first time I tried Sarku was in Garden State Plaza many many years ago. I loved it so much that my friends and I used to come here for lunch sometimes. So when I saw this place at EWR, I am so excited and wanted to get my usual. Extremely disappointed! First, it’s Chinese-owned Japanese Teriyaki place. Second, although I know Chinese people are not known for their customer service, they were not only rude but didn’t speak English that well. And they gave me the look when I asked for some extra sauce. And didn’t get my order right. Never going to eat here again no matter how tempting it looks.

Sarku displays nice photos of what they allege each dish looks like. We ordered Teriyaki Chicken with Vegetables. What we got was chicken with about a half pound of stir fried cabbage. I do like cabbage, but I would have preferred the mix of vegetables in the photo. In addition, the cook dumped our chicken/cabbage mixture into a pre-riced styrofoam container and stared at us. We were supposed to read his mind and know that he does not close styrofoam boxes or hand customers their food or speak. Avoid.
