This place is still cheap and affordable but has really gone down hill since 2009. The place’s ownership has changed hands so many times and just isn’t the same. Tim Raines hasn’t been the manager for a couple years now and isn’t associated with the club anymore. Gary Templeton is the manger now, which is a good name but doesn’t hold wait like Tim Raines.

Always a great time here at Riverfront. With the amazingly high prices at Pro stadiums you just cant beat the prices here. I pay more in tax on a ticket at Yankee Stadium than a full ticket here. Obviously its like comparing apples to oranges but considering its convenience via public transportation, great restaurants down the street in the ironbound, this is really a great place to take the whole family and enjoy some good pro baseball.

Cheap baseball, minutes away from midtown Manhattan. There’s literally nothing else in the immediate area of the home of the Newark Bears, so don’t plan on arriving super early or lingering after the game. The train drops you off steps from the stadium, and you can buy cheap seats and sit pretty much anywhere. The Bears are managed by former big leaguer Tim«Rock» Raines, and former big leaguers Ron Karkovice and Jim Leyritz round out the coaching staff(as of 2011). You never know who might be playing for the Bears on any given day. They tend to draw at least a few former big leaguers that are trying one more time to get back to the dream. Beers are cheap, food’s cheap, and there are two mascots running around. It’s like an independent version of the Brooklyn Cyclones, except there’s nothing nearby and the place doesn’t have a roaring crowd. That being said, it can be a lot of fun. It’s far cheaper than the Yankees or Mets. If you live in Manhattan, it’s probably even closer than the two big league clubs.

I firmly believe that you have so much more fun at minor league baseball games. My senior class had an event here last year and it was a lot of fun. The food is pretty good, especially the burgers. The key is that everything is affordable. Like any minor league game we had lots of giveaways and all the seat are close to the action. What’s really cool this year is that the spots for the mascot and anthem singer had open auditions. The only downside is the area. Parking will not come cheap and you don’t want to walk around at night. Luckily a Light Rail station is extremely close. If you are gonna drive, its right off of Route 21. If you’re in the Newark area its definitely worth checking out an event here.
