I used to go here to kill time. Their used cd selection gets pretty repetitive. But it’s not their fault since it’s based on what other people get rid of. You can get some used full length cds for as low as 0.99. Remember that r&b group Immature? I found their cd for 1.99, plus I have a discount card. So I couldn’t help but get it just to relive some childhood memories. Sometimes the cds are so cheap, I get them purely because I like the cd cover art at 0.50 to 1.99 a pop. Sadly I can’t find everything here. For those hard to find ones, I’m better off buying from . EDIT: Originally I gave this place 3 stars, but more recently I was able to get a used Buddha Bar album which I haven’t been able to find elsewhere. Bonus point.

The vinyl selection seems like it’s the duplicates and junk from the other stores, but that’s ok. It’s still the real deal.

This Rasputin store, while not as large as the Berkeley location, has to its credit, helped me discover such interesting performers as the local artist Pussy Tourette(SF/Castro), among others. I also like the selection of t-shirts available at this location(and not others, if at all, e.g., the Berkeley store).

I’ve been to most of the Rasputin’s stores in the area – Berkeley, Campbell, San Lorenzo – and for me, this one is tops. First off, the interior is as big as an airplane hangar. Just seeing the sheer quantity of vinyl/cds that this place holds is a turn on for a music geek like me. Second, the selection is top notch. You most likely will find what you’re looking for, maybe not in the used section, but the new stuff isn’t that much more if you have a discount card. Third, as Ernie mentioned, their bargain bins rock. I could easily spend 3 or 4 hours going through their $ 1.95 cds and $.50 vinyl on the weekends. Staff is a notch above most music stores, meaning that while some do have the«I’m pierced and my hair is orange and I’m better than you» attitude, there are some who truly care about customer service and know their stuff. One small beef – they open incredibly late on the weekends, like 10:30 or 11:00 or something.

A junk-picker’s paradise. I drop in every few months to go through the blowout bins, which just keep getting cheaper every day(fifty CDs for twenty bucks at the moment). Yeah, you gotta crawl around on the floor and get your hands dirty, but if you enjoy spending hours rooting through stacks of stuff nobody else wants(which I do – seriously!!) you can always find a few gems. Heck, make a game of it: bring your friends and see who can find the most CDs by bands whose names abuse the letter«Z», or the saddest-looking hand-made paper-sleeved hip-hop promo CD-R. Their selection of new and non-bargain-bin used stuff is pretty respectable too.

pretty depressing up in this spot. their vinyl selection is huge, but seems like its been picked over by everyone in the tri state area. i dont know where the tri state area is, but it sounds right to me. anywayz, ive gone here many times and found some stuff, but it takes me like an hour and a half to find anything. dont go out of your way to roll to this spot. its not worth it.

Huge selection of used cd’s, DVD’s, and records. They have a good selection of new movies and albums. They also have the gold standard of great local businesses… The Onion.
