I came here with my boyfriend because we had a certificate from . The area was pretty shady and when we walked in it seemed like a front place rather than a restaurant. We sat ourselves and the waitress came over staring at us. When I asked if we could have a menu she surprisingly asked«you’re going to eat?». Uh oh. I’m newly vegetarian so I ordered the mofongo de queso– fried plantains with cheese. My boyfriend ordered the bistec encebollado(steak with onions). The food was okay, but took a while to come out. So we eat, and then we present the waitress with our certificate. She looked at it like she had no idea what it was, and came back saying they don’t accept them. I told her that we bought it from the website recently, and that we would have been notified if the restaurant was no longer participating. The manager and another waitress were meanwhile giving my boyfriend and I death stares. I felt really uncomfortable given the seedy environment we found ourselves in. The manager then claimed that the $ 25 gift card was actually for 25% off. Uh– no sir. Finally my boyfriend had to explain to him that we paid for the certificate and its value. Such a hassle that was really stressful and unwarranted.
