I’m really surprised how long the line gets on the weekends. I came here with my parents for lunch, and it was pretty packed. We dined in, and thankfully there were tables open after we arrived. Tables are very limited probably less than 10 max. but usually people order and go. My parents and I usually order their #1 dim sum, includes two shumais, two shrimp dumplings, one BBQ pork bun, one meat bun, and a bowl of porridge of your choice. For a meal under $ 7 that’s pretty cheap and the quality is pretty good, it’s a lot cheaper eatting here than dining in a dim sum resturant. The only downside is the food is not hot, just semi-warm because they don’t have lids over their dim sum to keep it hot. Other than that, I like the food here, it keeps me full and my wallet happy. They also offer other varities than dim sum, like roasted ducks and chicken which are pretty good too!

One of the best take out dimsum places to try. The best products to buy are the egg tarts and the Lotus rice packed with sticky rice, Chinese sausage and sometimes a century egg, and the sponge cake. The other stuff can taste stale and dough can be hard the next day: sesame rice balls, yputiao(Chinese fried donuts), wgite rice cakes and the BBQ are decent too. The egg tarts are to die for: silky and rich egg Custard with a flaky pastry, and there are huge. Some say they are $ 1 each. I don’t know if this true because these types of places don’t give any receipts. This is the nearest Hong Kwon branch compared to the one in Milpitas, CA.

Unclean tea cups unclean table very unhealthy establishment I eat at lots of places and this is by far one of the worst places I have ever been to so much that this is the only time I felt that I needed to write a Unilocal review

This place is under new management and most likely new chefs as the food isn’t nearly as good as before. Prices are a little higher and the menu has expanded on the dim sum side. Came with the family on a Saturday morning and just didn’t feel like the food was done with care and love. The BBQ dishes use to come on a bed of veggies that is now barely there. The rice was over cooked in 1 plate and mushy in another. Our wonton noodle soup was a decent size but not well seasoned. It was just ok, nothing to rave about.

Still 3.5 stars. BUTTHEYSELLPEANUTMOCHI(aka nuomici)!!! I’ve been craving Chinese style mochi(nuomici) for a while and I was so excited to wander into NHK and discover freshly made nuomici sitting right by the cash register. They have red bean and peanut, but I preferred the peanut one. The mochi is not very sweet so the slight sweetness from the sugar/peanut filling is the perfect complement to the mochi. I do wish it was a bit sweeter(or perhaps there was a bit more peanut filling?) but all in all this was very satisfying. The consistency of the mochi is perfect(unlike all these other subpar versions I’ve been trying)!! The fried cruller here is very disappointing, despite being freshly fried it wasn’t very crispy and still too dense inside. The egg tart was still hot when we bought it and the egg part seemed to be a better consistency than last time. Got a roast pork puff pastry which was surprisingly addicting even though the pastry wasn’t particularly great. Perhaps it’s cuz the filling was really good? Anyways, I liked it — somehow the sum of its parts was much greater than the individual parts. Again hit or miss depending on what you get.

The last time, the shark fin dumpling tasted off. Almost sour. Pretty sure I’ll drive out to milpitas location from now on. After 3 tries, I give up.

Food isn’t nearly as good anymore under the new management. The best thing is the preserved egg and pork porridge. The worst thing was the roast duck over rice. It didn’t come with sauce and the duck was so dry. It was all the odds and ends part of the duck too. The dim sum items weren’t bad. They’re definitely not as delicate and delicious as the ones you get when you dine-in at a restaurant, but the skin of the items were soft at least. So you know they’re not too old and/or were sitting out too long. Other than that, the people are friendly but may not speak too much English so you don’t want to do too many, or any, changes. I overheard a disgruntled lady complain about her soup not being separate from the noodles. If you’re looking for quantity over quality, this is your place. You can get a big bowl of porridge + 8 pieces of dim sum for $ 6.80.

The dim sum selection is fairly limited and not always nor fresh. Besides, the service could be better and faster.

Needing a quick hearty lunch, I asked my SO to pick up a rice plate from NHK which is right down the street from us. I am glad I did. I got a shit ton of food for $ 8. It was a combo plate of BBQ pork and soy sauce chicken over rice. It was salty, fatty and delicious. Guilty pleasure at its finest. Will definitely be coming back when I need something quick and filling.

Food is just okay, but expect the wait of 10−15min to get your take out ready, even if it’s something that’s already made. Just imaging customers in line are in their own car, and the cashier is a DMV register window; that’s how slow this place is. Worst of all, if a customer decide to chat with the cashier, even if he or she is not buying anything, the cashier will put«chatting» as her priority.

Asked for a whole duck and only received half, while being charged for a whole. Also only got bones in an order of roast pork. Wouldn’t recommend.

Fremont has been in dire need of a good take out Dim Sum spot. New Hwong Kok fits the bill nicely! Decent if a bit thick Har Gow. Nice Sui Mai. Sharks Fin is tasty. All their Dim Sum is a bit large and doughy. But cheap and good. The Dan Tat is on point, so good! I bought a dozen Dan Tat for a party and people were impressed. They were even still tasty days later! Their cut to order duck, pork and chicken offerings look great as well. Good Stuff!

Realized they overcharged me of pig ears after I left. They charged me higher price which was marked as chicken feet instead of charging pig ears. This is unacceptable. I didn’t bother to call them to complain since I know how Chinese store is. They don’t care if you go back or not, either take or leave it. Making sure check price on top of any box you buy before leaving the store!!!

So this place took over the New China Station, not too long ago. It basically serves almost the same types of food(Chinese bbq items, noodle soups, etc.) with the addition of dim sum. I came here last week with my mother-in-law and my daughter(after seeing their commercial on tv). Well, when we got there, there wasn’t much food selections to choose from. Initially, I thought that they would be like their«sister» location in Milpitas, with lots of varieties. However, it wasn’t even close to being the same. They do not offer baked Chinese buns. All their buns were steamed. I don’t remember how much their bbq items cost but their roast goose was $ 50. Customer service was so-so. The only waitress they was on duty, was quite rude. When we grabbed a bag of steamed buns from the refrigerator, we asked her if it was plain steamed bun(mantou); since the bag wasn’t labeled. She rolled her eyes at us and said«yes». By her attitude, it sounded like she just didn’t want to be there. Another customer had to wait in line to pay their bill(after eating their lunch there) and she gave them an attitude, telling them that they should wait for her. The customer told her that they waited a while and she never came. They even asked her for water and never got it. Instead of apologizing, she argued back. The line to pay for our steamed buns, took forever and we were 3rd in line. The food was just ok and parking was ridiculous. This place shares the parking lot with other restaurants, but finding a space is a nightmare during peak hours. I got there around 1pm and drove around for a while to find a space. When I finally found one, a delivery truck told me to move because he couldn’t get through. I was quite upset by that time. The spot I found, was a legal parking space!!! The whole experience made me vow to never come back.

4 stars for what it is. A good, quick, Dim Sum take out place at very reasonable prices. I got 3BBQ pork buns(very good), 3 Shark Fin Dumplings, 3 Shui Mai, 2 fried taro for $ 12.81. Portions/Dumplings were big and I couldn’t even finish it all. They also have many items with chicken substituted for pork for those who must avoid pork. Tried chicken bun– very tasty. I must say as stated in other posts their BBQ pork looked very good! This place does have that«hole in the wall» vibe so keep that in mind. Place was packed with Asians when I went. They also have packs of the chicken/pork/beef buns to go if you like.

So far, food quality is pretty similar to Milpitas with a few hiccups, nothing major. They’re still working out the kinks in terms of service. I’ve seen other reviewers state this location has higher prices, but I’ve yet to check. Once I do, I shall update.

I can’t believe my favorite dim sum place has opened a new location in Newark. I used to drive all the way to Milpitas for their great dim sum items. I just checked them out. Some of the same staff as the other store. The lunch menu and most of all the menus I see are the same. The dim sum as always were excellent.

Nice surprise! I’m in town for training, staying in the area. Not a fan of the typical fast food or chain restaurants and am always down for some damn dim sum! Very good food, great price, friendly staff! Debating on going back for seconds!
