History

Established in 2012.

Originally an ice cream shop located on the 2nd floor of Newpark Mall, we ventured out! …to the plaza across the street with Hometown Buffet and 24 Hour Fitness. Instead of ice cream, now we sell ingredients for Burmese cooking, traditional decorations and clothing, and much more.

Because we’re a part of the local Burmese community, we probably know the owners of your favorite Burmese restaurant and even supply them with tea leaf salad! We love new customers and are always so humbled by their interest in Burmese cuisine and culture, I hope you will visit us today! :)

Meet the Business Owner

Amy K.

Business Owner

Born with an entrepreneurial spirit, Amy immigrated to the United States to pursue her vision of the American dream. After raising her teenage children, she wanted to run her own business and thus, Good Luck Yogurt & Ice Cream was established in 2005. Unfortunately, it did not survive too long after the Great Recession. After some time, Amy went back to her cultural roots and opened Myanmar Pyi Thar, a Burmese grocery and gift store for the East Bay and Tri-City Area’s Burmese community.
