Established in 2009.

Every day, Lori LaFave carried out an active commitment to improving quality of life for the people around her, and the elderly in particular. This commitment impacted and inspired those lucky enough to know her. Lori’s family has said that she, «Made lives better, in small, consistent ways,» and, «She never made a show of it, but she was always there when someone needed her.» It is with this same humble and giving spirit that Lori’s Hands volunteers serve their communities.

Lori is remembered as a quick wit with a dry sense of humor, a homemaker and seamstress with a keen eye, and a loving daughter, sister, wife, friend and mother.

She died in 2003 after an eight-​year battle with breast cancer, but her compassion endures through Lori’s Hands. Her daughter Sarah founded the organization in her memory at the University of Delaware in 2009.
