History

Established in 2007.

Throughout her extensive world travels, Carissa Borraggine had always fantasized about opening a little café, «stateside,» that served fresh, healthy food but didn’t cost a fortune. Never did she dream it would be in Downtown Newark! After a major search for the perfect spot, she happened upon Halsey Street only to find that, «this is it!» The serious need for healthy options in the area coupled with the hundreds of downtown employees who «must surely be dying for a good lunch» led Carissa to choose Newark as her base camp.

The restaurant has been very well-received. Our regulars consist of workers from the State (NJ), Prudential, local law firms & the students/faculty of Rutgers or other local campuses.

The staff is casual & friendly, and so is the vibe. The warm colors are a perfect backdrop for the art (by local artists) on the walls, and the music helps set the tone. And the food! Always made with fresh, high-quality ingredients, right in front of you. Delicious!
