Now called Myanmar Pyi Thar and located near Hometown Buffet in the plaza outside of the mall. Bought 8 packs of fermented green tea leaves, some fried split pea pancakes to top mohinga soup mix with. Also the crunchy legume mix to mix into the green tea salad and the dried shrimp to grind up and add. Went right home and mixed it up with some olive oil, lemon juice, chopped tomato and shredded lettuce. Heaven! New phone # is 396‑3291.

Good Luck Yogurt’s luck may turning. a «for sale» sign is evident at the left side of the store. menu: bud’s ice cream, smoothies, burmese food mix kit. froyo availability: none –froyo machine«broken», disassembled –likewise, shake machine not working frodrips –black handled froyo machine(wellspring?), stryo cups. –honey hill farms yogurt poster on display. –burmese food is the draw here, nothing else. –wacky wabbit wating: none. mikey politely refuses to come here.

this is such a random little yogurt/ice cream shop… and i wasn’t even here to try the yogurt. yes, i was here for the coveted tea leaf salad kits, which are now about $ 6 a package and are hidden away in filing cabinets for safekeeping. i came here and nearly cleared out the inventory(guess they were running low – i only got 6). they also sell individual size kits too, which i might try getting next time. make sure to ask them for the salad making instructions. the other reviewers were right about the serving size making up a about four restaurant size orders. i actually split up one package over two meals of 2 – 3 hearty servings each, served with tomatoes, romaine lettuce, lemon and a squeeze of fish sauce. DELICIOUS! anyway, hope good luck yogurt continues to source all their wonderful goodies and hope to come back to try some of the other salad kits!

Sells makings for Burmese tea leaf salad, ginger salad, mohinga, etc. You can purchase packages for $ 5 each, cash only. Salad packs come with packages of tea leaves/ginger, various nuts, sesame, fried garlic, etc. You just add a teaspoon of each ingredient to a dish of salad greens and diced tomatoes. Top with either the juice of a whole lemon or a vinaigrette dressing. Toss it up and you’ve now got Burma Superstar’s signature dish. They also sell separate packages of Yuzana Tea Leaf(fermented tea leaf salad cooked in garlic) and seasoned mixed nuts. The yogurt shop is right next to the closed Mervyn’s in Newpark Mall. Shop sells ice cream, candy, frozen drinks, snacks, etc.

The store is off in its own little corner. Strange that it’s not closer to the food court but I guess Dairy Queen would ruin its life. For ice creams, they carry the Bud’s brand which I’ve never had. I tried the green tea in a regular cone with two heaping scoops for $ 2.71. It had that texture of… old ice cream. I couldn’t even finish it. Like everyone else has said, they sell Burmese goods. Our family actually has some of the exact same stuff that a relative sends from Burma. So this stuff is legit but you have to consider that it is instant/packaged and won’t taste nearly as good as the fresh stuff.

I wanted some frozen yogurt after having a light lunch and saw this place tucked in a corner of the mall where there isn’t a lot of foot traffic. The store acutally offers both ice cream and frozen yogurt, as well as shakes and pre-packaged ice cream bars. The prices are reasonable– I got a junior-sized small cup of chocolate fro-yo for $ 1.99 + tax. The frozen yogurt was super-smooth and delicious, though without an intense chocolate flavor. What was most interesting about this little place was the fact that the owners are apparently Burmese and selling packages of snacks like the tea leaf salad. You usually find these packages only when you have relatives visiting back from Thailand or Burma, or at Burmese Buddhist temples. Because of this, its definitely worth coming back to and browsing through the shelves to see what else they have.

Went here based on Derrick V. recommendation. I haven’t tried Burmese Tea Leaf Salad before so I just bought some to try. Each bag is $ 5 and it’s CASHONLY. I got a bag that’s Spicy and 1 that’s Regular. Hope to try them soon. Total $ 10 even. I tried the Spicy bag and made a Burmese tea leaf salad w/added tomatoes, lettuce, and lemon. I didn’t care for it, but hubby liked it. It’s a bit difficult dealing w/the shop clerks because their English isn’t that good. It’s between Payless Shoe Source and Mervyn’s on the Upper Level of Newpark Mall.

Update: I’ve tried the ginger salad and mohinga as well. They’re both really good. Now I don’t need to go to the City for Burmese food! Check out my mohinga cooking write up here: — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — – This little ice cream shop in Newpark Mall(near Mervyns) sells dry packaged Burmese food, first I’ve seen in the Bay Area. You can get the well known«Tea Leaf Salad» for $ 5 with all the different nuts and crispy buts. It’s a huge serving so I wouldn’t try to finish the salad all at once. It’s kept me up pretty late because of all the caffeine in the tea leaves! I haven’t tried any of the other foods yet but for any Burmese food lovers, check this place out! The word is the owner also sells her tea leaves to Burma Superstar and some other local Burmese restaurants.
