This is a great spot to grab a quick and cheap dinner. I paid $ 6 plus tax for chicken schwarma. I wanted lamb, but they ran out! I noticed there were small tables to eat in but I was short on time so I took my meal to go. I enjoyed my meal and would recommend for anyone to try it out. It was spiced well and i definitely got my money’s worth.

I probably shouldn’t be writing this review right now since I’m hungry and annoyed. I recently started working in Newark and decided that I needed to eat healthier. I have a thirty minute lunch break and this place is a block away. And hey falafel! Who doesn’t love it? It hit all my requirements and the prices are reasonable. The first time(back in September) the food was whatever. Not the worse but I’ve had way way better. I wasn’t sure if I would go back but I like to give a place at least three shots before I write it off. Today I ordered a tabouli salad and it was fine. Although another gripe is that they don’t have mint lemonade which I always get from other falafel spots that I’ve been to. Anyway, as I’m trying to scarf down the food the music suddenly starts blasting! The music was somewhat loud before but overall not a problem with me. I also really enjoy the type of music that they were playing so that wasn’t the issue. Busting my eardrums at 2 in the afternoon? That’s an issue. No thanks. This sucks because there really aren’t a lot of options around here within a few blocks. I don’t want to eat a pizza or sandwich everyday. Well I do but I can’t walk around with my pants unbuttoned all the time!

I travel a lot and I’m always in search of good chicken schwarma. If you like this too, give Felfela a try. Besides tasty food, the staff is friendly and the premises is very clean. It’s a great, fast and quick place to grab a bite to eat!

This place is very inconsistent with their service and food. I was only happy with this place once since it opened and I’ve been back several times. Their preparations are never the same, one day I got a nicely cut and proportioned serving of veggies on my falafel and next time I went they were lazily cut into these huge chunks! Then their menu has a limited breakfast option, which is thought I’d give a try. I went at about 1030 in the morning and tried to place an order and they told me they don’t serve breakfast anymore. Yet their menu is on display for all to read and nothing covered. They then followed it up with they just stopped doing break all together and only serve lunch food. So tired of this place and would not recommend it to anyone! Save yourself the hassle and go to Chipotle!

My boyfriend found this place and regularly orders from here. I always end up asking him to order for me, too, when I hear he wants to pick up dinner from Felfela. The food is really good and, obviously, has really good vegetarian options. They have a great Greek salad. We usually order that and the Felfela Hummus. I’ve had a falafel sandwich and also like their baklava. You can place orders through the Unilocal Eat24 app and they’ll have your food ready for you for pickup. You can also eat there; there are a few seats inside Felfela for dine-in. Everyone who I’ve encountered in the store has been very friendly. It’s a great spot to get lunch or dinner. You should check it out!

Are you kidding me? This place was here all this time Ive been working in Newark and I had no idea? Clearly I need to venture out a little more. I stumbled across felafel as I sought out eateries that delivers AND accepts paypal(forgot my debit card at home… I think). Falafel sounded good and lightweight so I pursued it. Additionally their prices are not bad at all. I order a Falafel sandwich and it was only $ 4!!! Yes $ 4! You could actually purchase some fries for another 3 or 4 dollars to make the typical meal but the falafel sandwich was enough. Delivery time said 60 minutes max so I was slightly annoyed since they were literally three blocks away from my job, but they came in 35 – 40 minutes. The sandwich was definitely enough and the falafels, though in my opinion were slightly salty were crisps and flavorful. Felafel definitely has a new fien – err fan.

This place is absolutely amazing! The food and customer service are superb! Gigi who greeted me at the counter was pleasant and provided exceptional customer service. She was very knowledgeable about the food there which was a plus because I had never tried Middle Eastern cuisine. The food & Gigi are one of the many reasons I’ll be returning to this establishment.

The food is excellent, and there are lots of choices for a vegetarian to get by on. I am full and I only paid $ 7 — very tasty babaghanoush and lentil soup.

The cashier was very friendly and warm but the woman who stood next to her made me feel extremely uncomfortable. She didn’t say much and made little effort to make guests feel welcomed. The food was below average. The chicken shawarma I ordered had no flavor. As an aside — how does one eat Egyptian chicken shawarmas? Literally the ingredients soak through the Unclosed pita wrap and fall through. I regret that my first experience with Egyptian shawarma was unfortunate. The two Hispanic cooks in the day time also made me feel extremely uncomfortable by giving me creepy looks. Lastly, I noticed some décor on one of the standing fridges of a mini banner of Elsisi — the puppet prime minister Egypt’s military installed during essentially a military coup that overthrew the last democratically elected president. I won’t hold an owners political beliefs against him(well maybe I would), but my real issue was does that banner need to be so in-your-face??? Any customer who is even marginally informed about what happened in Egypt would feel uncomfortable with the pro-Elsisi. Uncomfortable and creepy to say the least. Even though I live literally 3 minutes away, I will not be returning.

Good food. Fresh chicken and lamb shawarma daily. No leftovers. Could be a little more well seasoned. Falafel made to order, not bad tasting. Soup is awesome, but could also use some salt, but I’d rather it under salted than over. HOTSAUCEISAWESOME. All around a go to spot for lunch. Ladies are nice at the counter, very friendly. Only thing I think they neeeed to change is the pita for the sandwiches. Though good and fresh, they lack in size. For the price, they should use the larger pitas and roll them, like lebanese shawarma. I guess Egyptians do it differently. O well, still gonna go about 3x a week.

Super friendly service at the counter from Gigi! Food is delicious, service is great. The hummus is the perfect side to a salad entrée – grilled chicken is good quality. I go there several times a week now and never get tired of it! Good value, lots of food. I often split the salad and save for the next day.

I am always excited to find new dining options in Newark as the selection has grown a lot in the past year or two. I had no idea this place existed but am glad I found it as the food was pretty good and came out quickly. I ordered the lamb shawarma plate which came with rice and a side salad. The shawarma is topped with hummus(or it could have been just tahini, not sure) which definitely made it better. I have had better shwarma but it was still good. The rice it came with was surprisingly tasty though I think some raisins or something would have made it even better. They have many different dressing options; I got the Caesar which appeared to be homemade and was quite good. The salad ingredients were all really fresh and it had lots of tomatoes and cucumbers as well as crisp lettuce. I would say the food is probably about 3 or 3 and a half stars. I give them 4 without any hesitation though because they were friendly and helpful, have lots of seating(though I got take out), and it’s nice to see a place in this area open later on week nights as well as stay open on Saturdays. They also deliver though I am not sure how far. I look forward to trying more of their food as I’m sure I’ll be back soon.

I have been to this small Middle Eastern restaurant several times for lunch. The first time I visited was with my Israeli friend and co-worker. He was there before and really liked it as being authentic cuisine. It looks like a hole in the wall from the outside, but, this place clearly is busy with downtown locals during lunch time. Check out my pics of the corner store front. They must be good, because they have been at this location for more than 20 years. They are conveniently located near my new Newark office. The shawarma chicken pita for only $ 6.25 is really tasty. I plan to try some of their other specialties including their spiced rubbed lamb Kebab’s. There will be a next time. This is a small place. There are some tables so we usually eat inside. I would rate this 3.5 stars only because the place is not so appealing from the outside, but, the food is definitely good middle eastern taste and quality as both my friend and I can attest to.

I have tried their falafel sandwich which is better compared to other places in Newark, which are often tasteless. I would not rate them higher than mammouns or Ibby’s. I wish they would make the falafel fresh rather than have them pre-cooked and sitting out. Most places usually cook them fresh. I have been there since it first opened and after several months the service still is slow, it is often confusing. Definitely needs improvement.

Friendly staff, cozy décor, and excellent food – that’s good enough for me. They recommended the chicken shawarma and it was the best decision I made all day. Ask for a side of tsiziki. At their price point, I’ll come back every time I’m in Newark.

This new Middle-Eastern/Mediterranean restaurant is definitely worth a try. I ordered the Lamb Kebab sandwich. It contained 1 skewer of made to order succulent lamb chunks, lettuce, pickles, tomatoes and tahini in a pita pocket. It was very yummy! I will likely try the platters next time so I can get 2 skewers of meat. There are tables inside but most people did the take-out. Service was a bit slow but I suppose it does take time to cook the kebab.

What a great little spot. Good location to all downtown businesses. They open 7am for breakfast, they make egg sandwiches, omelettes and fruit bowls. They close at 7pm Mon-Sat For lunch they have various meditteranean combos and sandwiches. I got the babaganoush and falafal platter with salad, the babganoush was the best I’ve ever had, creamy but not too thick; the falafal was very fresh. The counter service was a little confusing, they’re still trying to work the kinks out. Will totally be back for breakfast and to try some kafta!
