Delaware Express

A lot of my colleagues and friends are using this service for trips between PHL airport and Delaware. Generally the service is good: nice driver, nice vehicle, on time and safe. The price is quite expensive: usually around $ 60 for a shared ride (including gratuity).

Delaware Express had asked me to give them a second chance and gave me an incentive so I did.
Since my last horrible experience they have definitely stepped up their game a bit. My town cars picking me up from the airport have been there fairly quick, and have had no issues at all. I have taken a shared ride a couple times as well with zero issues. I decided that since they have done a lot better in the dozen or so times I have used them since the previous review I would give them an updated review. Perhaps it was just a fluke the one time, I’m not sure. Like I said though they have been on time, fast, and very friendly as well.

Ok, I am a frequent long haul traveler, so I fly out of EWR and JFK. I don’t mind paying the fee+built in tip, but could they supply drivers that know the route, the airport and are ON TIME? They are RARELY waiting with a sign, and after 14 – 20 hours of traveling I would like to walk off the plane and walk into the car. I have global entry to speed me through customs, but it doesn’t matter. Typical wait for me is 30−60+ minutes, but they want to charge if the flight is late.
Customer service ignores these complaints as well. Does anyone have an alternative from Chadds Ford area? A private driver perhaps?

I am so disappointed by the service I received on the phone with this company just a minute ago. I’m so upset I had to right my review immediately. First off I am in the service business so I know all about customer satisfaction and what I just received in the phone just now was a disgusting. I am currently looking for a company to escort me, my daughter and four other fathers and there daughters to a father and daughter ball this Saturday. I call this company on the phone and the woman who answered the phone acted like she hates her job. I asked her how much is it for service from Bear to the Riverfront, she rudely says its 131 we are not a taxi service. I said no I’m calling for a limo how much for the limos. She says how many people I say 10, she says well our limos holds 8 people I said that’s okay she told me no you have to get a 15 passenger party bus I said no I would like a limo for the 8 people please. With a attitude she says make up your mind do you have 10 people or 8 people? I said you know what I can’t do Buisness with people who have attitudes like this. She said whatever who cares. Wow. I can’t believe they have people answering there phones like this for there Buisness. I would not recommend a company who doesn’t listen or care about the clients needs nor says they don’t care if they get Buisness. Beware of this company. I will never ever use them for anything. Period.

It is truly hit or mess with them. Some days, you get 5 star service others days it is deplorable. After my last review, the owner contacted me and said she would upgrade me to VIP status. I seriously doubt that because I still get sucky service. After traveling and being away from family, the last thing you want to do is wait 50 minutes for a driver. My flight was on time. I am at a loss. I called dispatch. I was told Matt was pulling up. Hung up the phone and received a text message stating the same. 8 minutes later no Matt. Then I get another text that says Jeff is the driver. I call back and get the same answer. I stay on the phone for 4 minutes because he’s not pulling up. Needless to say I could have been home. I hate being lied to… obviously Matt was not on his way.
Last week, I had another driver tell me I should put cross streets in my reservation because she couldn’t find my house. GPS anyone? There is nothing worse than starting your day with someone telling you what you «need to do.» Not to mention she’s picked me up before. Make cross streets a requirement if your drivers need them to navigate.
P. S. I always tip 20% at least.

We used Delaware Express for our trip to the Philadelphia Airport. The driver who picked us up at our home for the departing flight was on time, personable and professional. The driver who picked us up at the airport when we came back was less than professionally dressed. We got off to a bad start because one set of instructions from the company said that the driver would meet us at the lounge area just outside the international arrival area. Drivers there were dressed like «chauffeurs» and holding signs with customer names. We expected the same. Actually the drivers’ instructions were to meet us outside at a zone which we had difficulty locating. Apparently you have to request a «greet» service to have them meet you inside. We had drivers in France and all of them were impeccably dressed, with nice cars (Tesla, Peugot). We were tired from our international flight and the delay in finding him was stressful and tiring.

I was very pleased with my experience with Delaware Express! I did a one way from Philly airport to Elkton, MD with no trouble! I got there in 45 minutes! Def will use their service again!

WORST CAR SERVICE DO NOT USE. I have had multiple scenarios where this service has disappointed me. They are always late. They are rude. When you call customer service they are also rude. Do not use this service you will have a bad experience.

I have been a regular user of Del express so I naturally called them for my daughters wedding. We got the 30 passenger bus for 12 hours as the wedding part was large an we didn’t want anyone driving when thy shouldn’t be. After taking a horrible way to the church that should have taken 40 min and took more than an hour we just made it. At the reception a bridesmaid came to me saying he was leaving I went out and told him no we had him until midnight. After a few moments he decided to call to check. I went back in only to almost miss my daughters dance with her dad. I then had a server come to me saying he was blocking the engine bay (reception is at a fire hall) and he was no where to be found. I had to get my phone and find the Number so they could find him. He said he didn’t know it was a fire hall. I guess the trucks or the name didn’t give it away! Several times I had bridesmaids looking to get into their bags on the bus only he was again nowhere to be found. I missed about one hour of my daughters reception and paid a pretty penny for this! I sent two emails and a letter with no response. I then called and someone looked into it only to get a very PAT email back saying they addressed the issues. I’m sorry but that’s just not good enough. I sent back an email saying I still was not
Satisfied with the response only to once again be ignored. Sad outcome

I’ve been a loyal DE Express user for years. Every business trip. Every family trip. Every time I flew out of PHL I would use DE Express.
Today I called b/​c my flights are delayed. Very delayed. I’m spending an entire day in MSY & rather arriving home @ 5:00 p.m., I’m in at 1:30 a.m. We called to update our arrangements & were informed that 1:30 a.m. is peak time & we would have to pay a premium.
I’m trapped for this run b/​c there are no other options, but I am not using Delaware Express again. Period. Gauging someone who is in a bad spot is a horrendous business practice.

Experience over the years has been hit and miss and when it is a miss it has been a big miss. BUT with that said my last 3 trips have been 5 stars all the way. Three superb drivers who could not have made the experience better if they tried.
In 2 of the 3 cases we hit major backups on 95 and both times the drivers circumvented the traffic on back streets wit almost zero delay. Kudos to this service.

I was picked up by Sarah this morning right on time! I was a little stressed out due to my really early flight and wanted to make sure I was on time. She got me to the airport exactly at the time I was hoping to get there! She even went as far as to check my flight number when I got in the car to see where what terminal my flight was out of to make sure I was dropped off at the right terminal and didn’t have any issues. Way to go Sara, thank you for your great service! I will be using delaware express in the future!

The drivers are great and personable and the vehicles clean and well maintained. The only reason I didn’t give five stars is due to the only rude person I encountered in the company. When I asked the representative for information she was extremely rude and I eventually hung up and called back. On my second call I received the information I needed. Also the car was a half hour late picking me up.

This is the worst company. They demand your flight information and pick you up an hour earlier than necessary. And when making a reservation they won’t let you do it while de planing. Of course they make you call them from baggage claim.

With an elderly parent living in Kennett Square PA and having a far-​flung, out-​of-​state domicile, I regularly travel into PHL and need transit to and from the off-​the-​beaten-​track hinterlands. For the past couple of years, Delaware Express’s shared-​ride service has provided this for me and has made the travel so much easier.
The online reservation system is a breeze; I can arrange and pay for the round trip (including gratuity) well in advance and with ease, thus not having to worry about having the right cash on hand for fare or tip mid-​trip.
Their drivers have consistently been punctual, courteous, and friendly, even on holidays or when the roads were snowy or congested. And the cars have always been roomy, comfortable, and clean. Now and then they’ve even driven me solo in town cars instead of the expected shared-​ride minivans, making the experience all the more comfortable.
With the changed plans that inevitably come with long-​distance travel, they’ve been accommodating across the board: When I needed to change my reservations at the last minute due to weather-​related flight delays, they did so with no questions asked; they regularly track flight delays and meet me at the airport whenever the flights actually come in; and the one time I misunderstood the PHL pickup procedure and left them waiting for me for 45 min by mistake, they were apologetic and the driver even offered to buy me coffee to compensate for the confusion.
All in all, they have helped make long-​distance travel much less onerous – a great value for the money.

#7 I never recevied either.
#8 I emailed them about 2 weeks after my initial shuttle date. No response.
#9 I emailed them again 3 days later. No response.
#10 Called credit card company to dispute charge.

I utilized this service for a quick, 24 hour trip from PHL to Newark, DE and back again. Relatively easy to use and nice drivers!
The service was booked for me, so I didn’t realize when I arrived at PHL I had to use a special transportation phone in the baggage claim area to actually get picked up. I had gone straight outside which cost me a bit of time in getting to my hotel and settled for the evening. Once inside, the process was relatively simple. You called the Delaware Express from a designated phone at the Transportation desk, an airport employee gave you a ticket and then would call your ticket number when it was time to be picked up. This seemed consistent across all the transportation companies, so be aware of this should you use any ground transport!
In both my trip from the airport and back, I only had to share a vehicle with one other person. Both times there was also bottled water provided. The type of vehicle also seems to vary– I was picked up in a town car from the airport and a minivan for my return trip.
I can’t speak to the price definitively, but I think this service is a bit pricier than similar services i have used before.

I have used Delaware express for airport shuttle service for over twenty years. It used to be very rare to wait for a half hour to be picked up after letting them know you have arrived and have all your baggage. Now, waiting for a half hour or more has become the norm. From the time I had my bags in hand and called them it took an hour to finally be on our way home. I used not to mind paying for the service so I wouldn’t have to deal with traffic myself after traveling, but now am starting to reconsider if it is worth the wait.

After realizing that my flight was scheduled to arrive at ILG after the last train to Philly for the night, I quickly went online to look for another way to get home. I found Delaware Express Shuttle and for $ 45.60 + tax and tip, I was able to get back to my apartment in Philly with no problems. I made the reservation the night before my flight and was promptly sent easy instructions and a confirmation number.
Once my plane touched down, I turned on my phone and found a text message waiting for me from the service with a link to notify the driver. I clicked on it and within a couple of minutes received a call from the driver telling me he was curbside. I hadn’t even gotten off the plane yet.
I was picked up in a clean and comfortable black sedan by a driver named Adam. He was very friendly, offered me water, and we had a pleasant chat on the drive home. Within 45 minutes, he dropped me off at my doorstep in Center City.
I highly recommend this service. I know some of the reviews are mixed, and I’m not sure why that is, but my experience was stellar. I’ll definitely be using them again in the future.

I used the shuttle service to get to and from Philadelphia Airport on my last trip. They were really great.
At the airport, I didn’t have to wait long and the driver was friendly and knowledgeable. On the trip back to the airport, the pickup was right on time, and I got to the airport with plenty of time to spare.
The process of making reservations was easy and I liked being able to leave a tip in advance with the credit car.
