Liked the atmosphere and presentation but the burger wasn’t that impressive. Will go back for drinks during a warm day.

garbage. from burgers to super thin grease filled fries. new joint, too bad. the intention with outside beer and wine bar is good, but the food will take this down under. Best burger in town…27 Mix right around corner on Halsey and ½ price with green mix on side!

This place is the real deal. What an amazing addition to the downtown Newark scene… great burger and amazing beer selection… all microbrews! Fried pickles are awesome and the MT burger is great. The park has truly been transformed into a beautiful place hang out with friends and colleagues. Highly recommended!

It’s a nice, welcome addition to the newly renovated Military Park; quite pretty with nice tables and seats. A burger with a drink and a side will definitely get you over $ 10 and I’m not 100% sure if it’s worth while to go all the time, but it’s quite an alright place for a pretty okay burger for a bit more than I’m willing to shell out. There’s more, better options in Newark!

Stopped in for lunch yesterday. It was a very sunny afternoon, I thought it would be nice to eat outdoors. The seating area is very pleasant and inviting. Ordered a Classic Burger $ 8.50 and a bottle of Poland Spring Water. The order taker asked me if I wanted the burger medium or well done. I requested medium. While I was walking outside, a server asked if I would like a glass of water with lemon. He said go have a seat and I’ll bring it. The water with lemon was very refreshing. My food order came out a few minutes later. I first thought the burger appeared very appetizing. Check out the photo. Unfortunately, the burger was a little undercooked along the beef quality not that good at all. I figured for $ 8.50, the burger would be half way decent. Burg Pluses: — Very nice customer service — Indoor area very clean — Very nice outdoor seating area — Very easy to read large menu inside — Order timeliness-particularly important during lunch time — Wine and Beer available Burg Minuses: –Burger quality Overall, I think the Burg is a nice place to come to have a beverage, particularly in their outdoor seating area. Burger quality needs improvement. Rating: 2.5 Stars.

I was in military park for the Founder day celebration. They had an area setup outside where you could have beer and wine. I ordered a cider and a burger combo $ 10.00. The cider was very good and the day was perfect for sitting outsides. My combo came the burger was juicy and cooked to my liking the fries were excellent. I guess I was expecting the burger to be better based on the reviews I have read. It was good but not special. I will give this place another chance this is a nice location for lunch in the summertime.

Checked out this place because of its affiliation to Maritime Parc in Jersey City(which we loved) — didn’t disappoint. Their ‘classic’ burger and fries were worth the non-fast-food wait — the food was definitely freshly made, and there was a real attention to detail.(I think we’re all too used to burgers and fries being available scary-fast and cheaply — if you’ve ever tried to make either at home from scratch, you’d appreciate how long it can take.) There’s something rich about the flavor and textures with that burger, and I think it has a lot to do with the buttery yet crispy bun that perfectly balances everything else. The fries were moreish too — you can tell that they are made of real potatoes, and every fry is crispy! Location-wise, it’s clean and well-maintained, and we enjoyed the people-watching in the park. FYI: If you’re driving, it might be tough finding street parking, but there are lots nearby.

I really wanted to love this place! The chefs are so nice. Bottom line, I don’t mind paying $ 9-$ 10 for a burger but it better be worth it. The burger I had just wasn’t good. It was small, poorly seasoned, and not hot enough. I did enjoy the fried pickles. I love that they have beer though and the ambiance is good! If you want a good burger opt of Burger Walla on Halsey or Novelty Burger.

The service is terrible. Came here on a Friday afternoon at 12:45 and placed my order at 1:03. I did not receive my food until 1:54. People who ordered after me had already gotten their food. My friend ordered at the same time had to wait until after 2:00 for food. At that time, everyone else waiting for food had received their orders and left, including those that ordered after us. When he finally got his order it was the wrong one. We waited over an hour for the wrong food and at no time was there any sense of urgency or feeling that the staff cared. The manager never came out, even after we complained several times. We will not be returning, the food is not worth the time or hassle.

Came here on Friday for lunch with some coworkers as I heard that the burgers here are amazing. Our usual burger spot is burger walla, not too far from here, so the bar has been set pretty high. The location of Burg is in military park, so it is definitely going to be a great place to hang out during the summer, once they set up chairs outside. First thing you notice when you get inside is that it’s pretty small, we had a tough time finding seating for the 6 of us, but eventually a few tables opened up. Second thing you notice is that it has a bar, which is always a plus. One of the employees also mentioned that they’ll be opening the bar up on the side of the restaurant as well, so we’ll definitely be back here when it starts getting warmer out. Now to the food. Whenever I try out a new place, I always like to try out their most basic items, just to see if their core ingredients are done right. I got the classic burger, as well as the disco fries. I was not impressed with the burger, it really did not taste much better than mcdonalds or any other low quality fast food joint, although their secret sauce was pretty good. As for the disco fries, they forgot to even add cheese on it! They did quickly correct the problem once I brought it back to them though. The cheese that they added was very liquid-y, so the fries get soggy as they are drenched in this cheese. I was really disappointed in the disco fries, as the cheese is really overpowering and over the top. Even though I was disappointed in the food, my coworkers were raving about the Korean Burger and the fried pickles. I tried a few of the fried pickles and they were amazing! Very crunchy and just the right amount of saltiness. I think for a place like this, they have really creative burgers and that’s really their hallmark, so don’t go for a basic item. The best thing about this place is really the service, the employees do a great job. So even though I wasn’t thrilled about the food(at least the items I ordered), I’ll be giving this place a second chance.

Fun. Cool. Trendy. Burg is a great quick stop for a burger or one of their delicious appetizers! The location is great because it is in the middle of military park. If you work close by it’s a wonderful way of getting out the office. Now for the food… BURGERS! — love them! A few choices from BBQ to classic Bacon n cheese or even their very delicious KIMCHI burger, yes, Korean Kimchi! All choices are delicious, the chicken burger I have not eaten personally but my friends have and they love it. APPETIZERS! — it’s all about the broccoli bites, ORGASMIC and with their secret dipping sauce, it’s all types of awesome. Their rib bites are very delicious as well. BOOZE! — yea I forgot to mention, they have beer on tap! Love love love this place, letter to management, you’re entire staff is so friendly and always smiling and asking if you’re okay! Love this place so much, 5 stars for sure!!!

I like this spot! The service was very good. I really enjoyed my experience at this establishment. Since this was my first visit I kept it basic with a classic cheeseburger and fries. I know a little something about burgers and this was a good burger. The fries could have been a little bit better but it didn’t matter the burger took up where they left off a little bit with the fries. They also hit a homerun with having local beer on tap! A great burger and great beer you cannot beat that combination! A little pricey but I don’t mind paying for good fresh quality food. I will definitely be back and bring a couple of my friends also

I have mixed feelings. On the pro side — chicken sandwich is incredible. Cons — prices are absurd for downtown Newark comparables. And their phone number doesn’t work. At all. That’s just silly.

I was so desperately craving a burger that I walked about 3 blocks in the rain for this one. Thankfully, Burg did not disappoint. It was 1pm when I arrived and there was only one other Joe sitting down and eating(maybe no one wanted to walk in the rain?). This observation worried me a bit. Either way I went for it once I saw that they had a lunch special — a classic burger with fries for 10 bucks. Fries are regularly $ 3.50 and the burger $ 8.50 so that’s a savings of $ 2.00. They asked how I wanted it cooked, «Medium please!» And perfectly medium it was. The burger was tasty but reminded me alot of(and even smelled like) a McDonald’s burger. Now don’t let that freak you out. This was in no way a fast food, frozen, thin, tastless burger. It was flavorful and juicy but it does include a special sauce which what is the chef’s interpretation of «McDonald’s sauce.» The fries were good. Apparently they are tripled fried. By the way, you can verify all this info in the New Jersey Monthly magazine. Burg made it to top new restaurants to check out! I left my classroom smelling like a Burg burger. My classmates didn’t seem to mind though their eyes were filled with envy. I had to explain roughly 20 times where to get this burger. Happy to say, I really enjoyed my Burg burger.

I finally decided to come to BURG after impatiently waiting for years since it was first announced. When it finally opened, it was always so busy I didn’t go until right now after another trip to New York City. I have had burgers in so many different places of all different types and this is simply the greatest, juiciest burger I have ever had. $ 8.50 of greasy perfection. Those burgers keep the place busy without any NJPAC or Prudential Center events, even when it is about 25 degrees out! The fries are okay, but not really the greatest. Burger Walla a block away has them beat on that. They’re not terrible, but not anything to write home about. Larger French Fry slices would be better than the typical burger place needles. As far as the interior, it is brand new with all wood interiors and great lighting. The lengthy delay was mostly to perfect the interior finishes, and reorder an improperly cut countertop for the bar. Speaking of bars, this little place has a full beer and wine selection with a daily 4 – 7 happy hour. Yes, I do mean 3HOURS! Not the typical half-hour that is typical of many bars. Beer is $ 4 and wine is $ 6, normally both $ 2 more or $ 18 for a wine bottle, which is cheaper than most comparable restaurants. This somewhat still hidden gem is in the middle of the newly renovated Military Park. The new Prudential Tower is directly across Broad Street, across from the Hahne’s building and the Robert Treat Best Western hotel is on the other side, about 100 feet away. At least 4 large new apartment buildings are rising or will VERY soon so get here before everyone else discovers it.(Bring on the hipsters) My only recommendations for BURG would be to put a toothpick through the burger to keep it from sliding around like deli sandwiches do, and as previously mentioned, get some thicker cut fries!!! I know I’ll be here a LOT, and I am not exaggerating as my school is about 4 blocks up the hill. Take note that BURG is only open Monday through Friday during the winter. They will be open 7 days a week in the spring/summer

Great staff and a killer menu. Stop for a beer after work. Happy hour! This place is built for stopping in after work or before a performance at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center. Also very convenient to Robert Treat Hotel.

Food: Decent Service: Outstanding Ambience: Good This is a great new edition to the military park area of Newark and the huge windows over looking the park give it a very positive feel. As you walk in you are welcomed by a whole lot of smiling friendly staff they truly make you feel welcome. I tried the classic and honestly it was a decent nothing special but the fries were great. Will I come back probably but hoping the burgers will get better.

After a very long wait, Burg is finally here! My partner and I popped in on a Thursday for dinner and happy hour. I was impressed with their beer list, all for $ 4 during happy hour(4−7pm.) We ordered the Chipotle Burger, Cowboy Burger, one side of fries, a bag o’ doughnuts. I loved the Chipotle Burger! It was so flavorful with the right amount of spice. My partner did not care for it and preferred the Cowboy which had a meatier taste. My only complaint was the price. The Chipotle Burger was $ 9 and that does not include any sides. The size was a little small for the price we paid. Because of the price of the food, I would not make this a regular stop, more of a specialty stop. However, I will be back for the happy hour!

Do you remember when President Bush finished that speech in China and kept pulling on the door that wouldn’t open? Yeah, that was my co-worker earlier today trying to get into BURG. And everyone saw it, including an employee from indoors who chased us down from inside the restaurant to re-direct us back to the same door that opened after all. It was like a scene out of The Three Stooges, only there were four of us. In addition to the door, BURG also needs to fix some other things, some of which are inexcusable, even in their first 5 days of business. Let’s start with the inexcusable: 1) The buns were slightly stale, bits and pieces of which drifted off with every bite. It’s almost as if BURG ordered one huge shipment in advance of their grand opening this past Monday in anticipation of the week ahead, didn’t run out, and now they’re plowing through the remnants until their next delivery. 2) The rocks-glass portion size of the maple bourbon coffee float is way, WAY too small for $ 6. For that amount of money, at least give me 10 oz, or else some hand-scooped ice cream rather than that soft serve crap from the machine. Excusable: They kind of messed up our order. They assigned me the same order number as my co-worker even though we were on separate tabs. So, instead of bringing us two floats, they only brought us one. When they finally got around to bringing the second one after we told them it was missing from our order, they also brought us a third. I’m guessing the third serving was just another miscommunication rather than a gesture for apologizing for the wait, but I claimed it so I can’t complain. Overall, the burgers, fries and float were good, but the prices are a little too high for Newark. $ 8.50 for the cheapest burger. $ 3.50 for the hand cut fries. Small portion, but at least they’re good. A major problem I foresee this place having is customers complaining about the temperature of the burgers. They give you about 1⁄3 lb. of meat, but don’t ask you how you want it cooked. Mine came out medium-rare to medium, which was fine by me, but probably not with most other people. Inevitably, I’ll be back, but I hope they work out the kinks in the meantime.
