History

Established in 1987.

Dr. Zemelman is the third generation of dentists in his family. His grandfather graduated from the NYU Dental School in 1905. His father became a dentist in 1947. After receiving his degree in Europe, Dr. Michael Zemelman earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree from New York University Dental School in 1981. He opened his Brooklyn practice in 1982 and created Battery Park Dental Center in Manhattan in 1987.

Coming from a long tradition of caring dentistry, Dr. Zemelman uses the latest technologies to bring his patients’ mouths to the state of full health.

Business Owner

Dr. Zemelman is dedicated to staying current with the latest innovations and technology. He attends more than 90 hours of continuing education courses a year. He is also active in the community. Following the terrorist attack on the World Trade Center, he temporarily converted his Battery Park office into a recovery unit where nearly 40 wounded victims received help.

Dr Zemelman is the best dentist I’ve come across. He’s knowledgable, communicative and most importantly, cares about his patients. And that attitude is reflected in the rest of his staff as well. They treat you like family and my family is now loyal to them, for the last 10 years. I would never go elsewhere if I can avoid it.

Absolute amazing dentist.
So caring and patient. He takes his time and answers all of my questions. Has such a gentle touch and you can just see that he wants the best for his patient
I’ve been there 3 times now (I’m having so much work done its crazy :(
and they have been running on schedule every single time. I’ve never had to wait more then 3 mins.

I’ve had more cavities, root canals and what have you than your average person. You name it I’ve been through it, thrice (genetics what can you do?).
I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Zemelman and his staff. Where as other dentists would immediately opt for say, a root canal (and they have), this dentist negates that and not only opts against the root canal route but will in full detail explain to you why he has chosen to do A and B and not C or D.
I’ve been to dentists who look like they enjoy dentistry as much as I enjoy going to a dentist on a Sat morning (I don’t). I’m pretty positive Zemelman not only thoroughly enjoys his profession but it is very apparent he is passionate about it.
There are so many dentists who honestly have no idea what they are doing and rather go the extreme than sit and think about the best treatment plan for your case. I can honestly say, Zemelman will work for you and not against you.
If i ever moved out of NYC, no joke I would fly back to visit him. Once you find an honest and passionate dentist, it becomes very obvious they are a dime in a dozen and you gotta stick with them.

The best dentist I’ve been to. I’ve been going to Dr. Zemelman for the past 8 years and thanks to his thorough and thoughtful care of my teeth can report no cavities. He is friendly, caring and easy to schedule an appointment with despite my busy schedule. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend him to family and friends. His battery park location is a quick walk form the subway and very convenient.

Best dentist in all of Manhattan. Going to the dentist isn’t fun, but Dr. Z managed to make my visit completely painless and comfortable. He removed all of my wisdom teeth with ease and I healed quickly. He even called to make sure I was doing well.
