We have been in the tech repair business since 1999, but we now specialize in only game repairs, smartphones, and web development.

We repair Playstation PS3, PS4, XBox 360, Xbox One, Wii U, 3DS XL, PS Vita, and smartphones. Some of the Android and Apple devices we fix are: iPhone 5 /​5S /​5C /​6, iPad, Samsung Galaxy S4 /​S5 /​S6 /​S6 Edge, HTC One, and Google Nexus 4⁄5.

Aside from catering to the repair market, we are web freelancers at heart and create web applications to streamline small businesses like ours in an ecommerce setting. We host new and upcoming tech meetups like Bitcoin, Arduino, Robotoics, 3D Printing, Linux, and Drupal.

We’re an active member of open source communities in NYC and host workshops to teach others.

History

Established in 2010.

xCubicle started out with a couple of seeds and now its blossomed into something beautiful!

The story begins sometime in 2007 with us joining together to create a co-​working space where us web freelancers can have a place to work. Working at home didn’t sit well with any of us having being stuck in the same place 24⁄7. So we rented a very small «cubicle» storefront space (8×8 feet) as a micro office we shared.

During that time a friend of ours had a gigantic warehouse fixing XBox 360 RROD (Red Ring of Death) and PS3 YLOD (Yellow Light of Death) issues.

Since we had a display we didn’t utilize, we lent it to our friend to market his video game repair services. Eventually his business moved to other things, but people continued to come to us. And long story short, we accidentally acquired a business we didn’t intend to. Being savvy tech people we learned the trade and ended up fixing Nintendo 3DS XL, Wii U, PS Vita, PS4, Google HTC One, Samsung Galaxy S4, and Motorola Moto X.

Walked up to the counter with my iPhone 6 and it’s cracked screen. I handed over my phone, grabbed some food around the area, came back and my phone screen was replaced — awesome service! The lady was very nice and even threw in a phone case!

TL;DR — Great shop. Prompt service. Always gets the job done and makes accidents disappear.
Long version —
I’ve come to xCubicle for help with consoles on two occasions.
The first time they resuscitated my fat PS3 that had finally suffered a YLOD after years of faithful service. I was able to salvage all of my game saves, and they even installed a more powerful fan to try and give the unit a few more years. So far it’s still kicking.
Recently, I returned to them after accidentally scratching the screen on my imported baby blue and white PS Vita Slim. Sony had refused to service the unit because it came from Japan, so xCubicle saved the day. They told me the repairs would take at least two weeks because they only sell black Vita Slims in the U.S., and they would have to order the white parts from overseas. That turnaround was more than reasonable, and I was willing to be patient. I received a message in less than one week saying that my unit was ready to be picked up. Now my Vita Slim is good as new.
Good to know that if and when accidents happen, I can come here to fix the problem.

My 3ds xl wouldn’t turn on during and the screen is black while the light stays on for 3 seconds and shut off and you would hear the crackling noise. Which I search online that this means that something is wrong with the motherboard. I walk pass XCUBICLE a lot when I go to chinatown and I went there to have my motherboard replaced during March. It took six days to get it replaced and my 3ds xl is working fine.
Note to other people that having their motherboard replaced and have digital games on it you would need to call nintendo to get your eshop account back to you because that’s what I did.

They were able to successfully fix the R button on my Nintendo 3DS (damaged after excessively playing Monster Hunter 4). The process was very simple. First I went to China Town and found the location to be a booth where you drop off and pick up items from a window (there is no door for customers). There are also cute gift ideas available for purchase, on display at the windows, such as handmade Mario & Luigi picture frames (stitched) and ChromeCast.
I submitted an initial deposit and they said it would be fixed within 3 – 5 business days (but same-​day service is available for an additional fee). I received a friendly text message on the fourth day and picked it up without a problem (and paid the rest of the cost).
I checked to make sure the button worked and it did. It still works perfectly to this day (they were able to replace the button). They also give you a 90 day warranty where you can get it fixed for free, if it happens to revert back to its damaged form.

Both trigger buttons stopped functioning on my Nintendo DSi, and this place seemed to have reasonable reviews and was fairly convenient to get to.
It’s a few minutes by foot on the same side of the block as the F train at East Broadway, which works for me.
I thought this place was a walk in factory kind of store to fix things, but it wasn’t like that at all when I got there. The front door has a sign that says go knock like a hobbit, which at first confused me, since… lol
A woman in her mid twenties came to the door and helped me, the price to fix the buttons was 20 $ down payment, and I pay the other 20 $ when I pick up my counsel, the total was 40 $, just as advertised.
She gave me a receipt and asked for my phone number and email and that someone will call me within 3−5days to tell me that it was ready to be picked up.
I received the call on the 3rd day and went to pick it up, and was told that there is a 90 day warranty in case of anything.
My DSi has been working since so I don’t think I would have to go back any sooner but I definitely recommend others to go there for fixes.

Great service! Modded my 3ds xl to function with a gamecube controller. Works perfectly even with a wavebird which surprised me. Lol. Amazing customer service, needed the modification within a few days due to traveling and they flipped it back to me right on time. I strongly recommend these guys for modifications and repairs. They did a great job!

Went in to fix my 3DS XL Screen after it suffered an unfortunate fall, and I have to say the service was amazing! They were very helpful and fast! I dropped of my Ds on a Friday and it was ready for pick up on Tuesday. They even texted to check up on it after a few months. The screen is in tip top shape even after 6 months. Also it was a lot cheaper fixing my DS with them instead of Nintendo.

Really great business. I came to them with a broken wii U gamepad and had the new screen ready. They charged me a fair price for labor and took about a week to do the repair. Also everyone that works in there was super nice! Definitely going back if I break some other gadget, thanks guys!

A few months ago I got the dreaded «YLOD» on my PS3. I took it over to xCubicle and got it back, working good as new in about three days. They’re extremely professional and efficient for having such a small workspace (the place is a walk-​up window in Chinatown)… Not to mention they’re just really nice, happy people who you can tell love working with video games. Four months later when it crapped out on me again, I took it back there in hopes that they’d help me out and be able to salvage it… Not only were they able to fix it AGAIN, but they also honored the 90 day warranty even though it was a month overdue. Fixed it totally free of charge.
Great people, great business. I would instantly recommend it to anyone with a broken video game.

Took my Nexus 4 phone in to get the battery replaced. They were very fast and professional, and the new battery is working quite well. :)
I have since sent a couple friends there to get their iPhone screen replaced, and they have all come back very happy with the service.
Pat is especially friendly, and will take the time to explain just about anything tech you might be wondering about. Would recommend to anyone.

I don’t like posting bad reviews — but I’m so annoyed by my replacement screen I wanted to warn others.
Took my Nexus 4 in last month. The original screen was barely scratched after a year of rough handling, but the digitizer wasn’t responding.
$ 125 cash to put a new screen on.
First thing I noticed was the colors were not correct. I was hoping the screen would burn in, but it never did. Only a few days later, a minor drop (I’d had a lot worse) and a big crack appeared, then just while in pocket another crack in a different location. Now there’s a big smudged area that I can’t even see through.
Worst of all the battery drains 3x faster. I can only guess it is the poor quality replacement screen.
The service is fine, but used crap parts.

My ps3 was suffering from a disc drive failure. After doing some searching online this was the only repair place in NYC that I found that accepts Bitcoin as payment. The service was quick, and now I have a working ps3 again! I highly recommend this place!

I was playing four-​year-​old my Xbox 360 a few weeks ago and saw some spontaneous fuzzy lines on the screen. As I desperately tried to get Master Chief to safety, the unit turned off and I got the dreaded Red Ring of Death (
)!
The Microsoft website was confusing; it either wanted $ 70 plus shipping, or was telling me that pre-​2010 machines would not be fixed at all.
The RROD is basically just caused by crappy thermal tape on the board of the unit, so I thought fixing it locally would be better. When I dropped off my device at xCubicle, they immediately confirmed the issue. I left them a $ 20 deposit. A few days later, they called and it was all fixed! They showed me that it was working on a monitor before I took it home. The total price was $ 65.
The location itself is actually a corner store, and you can’t go inside — it’s just a super tiny window that opens up. Having hardcore gamers shyly pop their heads out of a tiny window covered in Mario stickers seems like it confirms a number of stereotypes, but these guys are awesome.
