This 5 star review is for Dr Peggy Yih. If you are looking for a passive doctor who will spend 5 minutes with you and then file you away– she is NOT for you! Dr Yih has been my Internist for over two years. She is extremely thorough and takes an extensive history and spends appropriate time getting to know her patients. I feel extremely confident at every visit that she’s going to resolve my issues or make sure I see the appropriate referral. On my last visit, she even suggested if I couldn’t get an appointment with her, to email her directly and assured me she would get me in to see her or someone on her staff immediately. This is a doctor who was genuinely concerned with my well being on my last visit. No one can dispute this.
I moved to NYC 6 years ago and I’ve unfortunately had to encounter several doctors because of a serious injury. It wasn’t until I fell into the hands of NYU Langone Medical Center & NYU Langone Joan H. Tisch Center For Women’s Health that I can finally say with confidence you will encounter professionals that care!

The facility is ok and the staff is pleasant. I’m sure there are good doctors there but my interaction with Dr Peggy Yih was terrible. Unfortunately it was a couple months before some of the other reviews were written or I would have chosen another Doctor. Luckily I do not now have a serious illness and only went in for a annual check. She never gave me a second to speak often interrupting when I tried. She insisted I make more appointments with her for testing but never told me what the testing was for. I can only think it was to get more money from insurance. I did return once, didn’t get a test, only a repeat of the same original questions. But never again. Still looking for a competent and compassionate primary Doctor.

I thought Dr. Elbuluk was terrific. Very professional yet also friendly and made me feel comfortable immediately.

I had been seeing Dr. Peggy Yih as my internist for a couple of years. I thought she was just fine. She referred me to many specialists that were also in her practice. They went from bad to worse. Then I noticed that the support staff was just horrible. To get prescription renewals, labs sent to doctors outside of the practice, etc. took endless phone calls and days. They are so understaffed and bureaucratic! I felt like I was dealing with Verizon when I needed something. Lately Dr. Yih has been very abrupt and gave me questionable advice. I made an appointment with another internist and asked if I could pick up my medical records, didn’t even want to deal with having them mail it to me. I was told that they would charge me .75 per page! Don’t be impressed with their upper eastside address and fancy office. This is a business run on the cheap.

Unlike other reviewers, I don’t mind Dr Yih’s brusque manner. She gets you in and out and stays on time. I think she’s friendly, though, yes, sometimes dismissive. Dr Dardik is another matter. I went in with an actual problem (getting an appointment was a nightmare and I could only get one after calling repeatedly for several days) and she got frustrated because, she said, there was nothing wrong. She treated me like I was a crazy person who made up reasons to go to the doctor. I almost never go to the doctor aside from routine exams. The facility is modern and clean, and it’s great you can see so many specialists in one place. But the phone system is ludicrous. One main number, and you will almost never be able to get in touch with a particular doctor’s office. If you do, you will definitely never speak with the doctor. The best method of communication seems to be via their online portal where a nurse will respond, eventually. But you are out of luck if you want to speak with someone or be seen same day. The phone system is literally infuriating and the reason I’m looking to switch. If you use zocdoc to make an appointment, know that their appointment times don’t align with actual appointment times. So when they call to confirm (surprise! the phones do work?!) they will give you a different time and get indignant when you say that isn’t the time you booked online… As if somehow you should have known. They have a very very long way to go in terms of customer service. The whole facility was a good idea but poor execution.

They seriously deserve zero stars, and this was without even meeting a doctor. I made an appointment on Zocdoc in April, and they didn’t follow up to confirm for nearly a month. When they did call, they told me they had to reschedule me because the doctor refused to see three new patients in a row. Why did I get the boot? Just because I was the first to call back? The receptionists changed my appointment to two weeks later and I rearranged my schedule, only to receive a call days later telling me that the doctors all had a meeting that morning and they’d have to reschedule me again. Fine. I made a THIRD appointment with them, only to get a call this morning telling me that the doctor actually wound’t be in that day, and they attempted to push my appointment by another two weeks. I told them FORGET IT, I’ll find a more dependable office. I expected more from such a prestigious medical center, but clearly they have no respect for their patients and fail to understand what an APPOINTMENT actually implies. Don’t bother.

Dr. Peggy yiih is one of the worse doctors I have ever seen. I met her for the first time after choosing this practice based on a recommendation. During her initial 5 minute interview with me she was curt, rude, and condescending. Instead of answering one of my medical questions she dismissed it by telling me that much has been written on the topic and that I could go read about it myself. It went down hill from there! She addressed my questions in an unprofessional manner and never answered the question directly.
She seemed disinterested and bothered throughout the interview, and had a sarcastic comment for any of my responses to her questions. I wish I had read some of the other reviews prior to seeing her, which would have allowed me to choose another doctor in the practice instead of her.
After directing me to an exam room, she stated she would be back to do an exam.
I walked out of that room, went to the front desk and told the receptionist that I was leaving. I was not going to allow her to touch me!
There are thousands of GOOD doctors in the NY area and no one should tolerate this behavior. It can only lead to problems for you as the patient.

Any facility is only as god as their doctors and staff and I think the Joan Tisch Center is a godsend!
I went looking for a new GYN and found Dr. Dardick. She is by far one if the best GYN I have ever been to! An incredible bedside manner, very knowledgeable and always puts me at ease– she really cares about her patients’ over all health and well being Since my experience with her was so great, and I needed to find a Gastro, made an appt with Dr. Gorss. Again, a great bedside manner, easy to talk to, compassionate and an incredible competent physician. LOVE THEM BOTH!
The facility is warm and inviting and the staff (from reception to nurses) have been great! Very professional and kind. You can even log on to the site and request prescription refills, appts, etc. makes it so easy.
Seriously — highly recommend!

Spent four hours here to get a mammogram and sonogram. For a 0930 appt I. Arrived at 0915 as requested. At 10 I had not been called in. I went to the receptionist and she called, no answer so she walked back to the exam area. Was called finally and everything went downhill from there. Spent most of the time waiting in a freezing lounge area in a robe. Finally had the procedures done and had a talk with radiologist who seemed quite competent. Had to make another appointment downtown NYU. Was given the wrong phone number twice! Finally got the right person who said my MD had ordered the wrong tests. Another call to get the right test ordered. Will check to see that is done before going downtown.

If I could give Tisch Center negative 5 stars I would. Someone recommended that I come here because of the proximity to my home, I wish I read their Unilocal reviews before I did. I waited a few weeks to see a specialist just to learn that I was referred to the wrong specialist and that I will not actually receive a course of treatment from her. I was thinking of finding a new specialist but then a new problem presented itself.
Turns out their billing department is not in sync with the hospital so after being told how much my appointment will cost, I received bills for an additional $ 400+. I went to the Tisch Center (their phone system does not work) and told them about the error. I was not allowed past the receptionist in the lobby who is a lovely girl but could not help me since this is obviously outside of the scope of her responsibilities. She made a call and scribbled on a piece of paper a few numbers for me to call in an effort to resolve the problem.
As other Unilocalers already stated, their phone system does not work! I was routed to the wrong departments and was eventually told that those people are no longer with the Center. I finally did speak to someone and they assured me that they will work on resolving this issue. It dragged on for months, eventually the total went down to $ 200+. No one ever called back to give me an update, finally the remainder went to collections even though I was assured numerous times that it would not since supposedly they were still working on resolving the issue.
Finally I decided to just pay the bill and put the entire ordeal behind me. By that time the health issue I had resolved on its own. I have never come across such incompetence before. I think their doctors are ok but the administration and billing (and phones!) are completely broken. Stay away! If you have extra time and money to waste, then by all means please proceed.

Dr. Peggy Yih is the worst MD I’ve ever seen– Rude, haste, and only concerned on the surface. She had a bad attitude, was not warm, and my annual physical was a mere 5 min checkup with her that served no real purpose other than for her to order a blood test.
She is not a good doctor and should not be at the NYU Center for Women’s Health.

They started out well but have evolved into being less than satisfactory.

Was recommended here by a friend and I LOVED my experience. Not only were the staff all very professional, but the doctors put me at ease and spent time discussing my health problems.

I did not love this facility. I have seen 3 of their doctors and didn’t love any of them. The 2 internists were bizarre. The Physiatrist was a decent doctor but her course of action seemed like a waste of time.
Internist number 1 — Dr. Yih (who I saw for an annual physical) insisted I had a heart murmur. I told her my cardiologist never told me I had one. She said that was because it was so minor, he probably didn’t feel it was worth mentioning. I later conferred with my cardiologist, had an EKG and he confirmed — no murmur.
I saw the second doctor (Dr. Behar) because I was stricken with a case of bronchitis. The internist (heart murmur doctor) was booked and they put me with another member of the practice. I told her that my bronchitis started with a sore throat that I attributed to a recent case of food poisoning (heavy duty vomiting). The doctor completely ignored my nasty cough and congestion and focused on my gallbladder. Insisting I needed a sonogram for my bad gallbladder (never had gallbladder problems, just some bad fish). Finally I got her to focus and treat what brought me to the clinic.
Third time (I don’t seem to learn my lesson), I saw The Physiatrist — Dr. Bonder for a sprained ankle that was taking a very long time to heal. To her credit, she gave me a thorough examination and prescribed 30 minutes of PT for 1 month. 2 hours of physical therapy. Seriously? If she said 8 weeks I might have done it, but 2 hours sounded like a total waste of time. I asked her if she could show me the exercises and I could do the therapy at home. She said no.
The reason for the 2 stars is because the desk staff is very nice and the facility is very modern. That being said, I won’t be coming back.

The people here are nice but the institution is awful. I see an endocrinologist here who was strongly recommended by a friend of mine. She is lovely and I enjoyed her, but everything following the appointment was a nightmare.
Their phone systems don’t work. In a huge medical center, the phones don’t work. At the initial menu, when selecting a department to be transferred to, I was disconnected. Again and again and again. It was literally impossible to get through to anyone.
I was desperate to get a prescription for a daily medication refilled, so I kept trying, but I never got through to the department directly. I would call other departments, explain what was happening and ask them to transfer me over. Email wasn’t an option either. And when I FINALLY spoke to someone in the right department and explained what was happening, she said she knew it was a problem and they were waiting on someone to fix it. This had been a problem for weeks before I was able to notify them of it. I said, word for word, «Your patients can’t get through to their doctors. This is a huge problem. I’m a cancer patient. I need to see my doctor,» and her response was basically, «Meh.»
Not being able to reach a doctor is a deal-​breaker for me. I won’t come back here and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone else either.

This place is seriously great. I’ve been a patient for about six months now and have seen a PCP (Dr Rohr), gynecologist (Dr Dardik), and endocrinologist (Dr Chaudry) and all of them are really wonderful. I’ve rarely felt rushed, my appointments have pretty much always started right on time (sometimes even early if I happened to arrive early myself). When I’ve needed to ask questions after appointments via the email system in MyChart, they have always responded quickly. The nurses who take my vitals or draw blood have always been really nice.
The only complaint I can even think of is that sometimes there seems to be a breakdown in post-​appointment instructions communication. Doctors have told me that all the info I’ll need (referrals, follow up appointments, lab testing to schedule, etc) will be available at the front desk as I check out, but the women at the front desk (also very nice, I should add) don’t ever seem to have that information, so I’ve always needed to remember it all myself. It’s not a huge deal, but make sure you’re keeping track/​writing it down during the appointment. Which you should probably be doing anyway. Also, as a new patient the wait to see some specialists can be a bit long (nearly two months for me).
MyChart is a fantastic bit of software, so make sure you sign up. The office is really nice and clean, but not to a point where you start wondering if half the fees you’re paying for appointments are really just going into some fancy decorator’s pocket. They’re also great about carefully checking to see if prior authorizations are required, and taking care of them in a timely manner if they are. If you’ve ever dealt with doctors offices in the past that didn’t particularly care and left it to you to initiate and push for that process (I have – learned that lesson the hard way), you’ll understand how nice that is.

Love it, love my doctors.
My partner had extensive open-​heart surgery at NYU Medical Center last year, and I was so impressed with the incredible care she got there, that I asked one of the nurse managers, «How do _​I_​get an NYU doctor?» This was the answer.
It really is one-​stop health care. My internist, gynecologist, dermatologist are all in one place and I have rarely had to wait long for an appointment.
Today I woke up in incredible back pain and my internist got me in within two hours after I called.
For those complaining about «no email,» that is not true at all. There is a very sophisticated – and secure, I might add – but user-​friendly «MyChart at NYU Langone» system that you can use to communicate via email. You do have to sign up for it, but that is an outgrowth of HIPAA and other privacy regulations.
The same system allows you to get email alerts when your test results are in, have prescriptions electronically sent to your pharmacist, and schedule most appointments.

Their website promises services «with little disruption to your day,» but that’s actually not the case.
1) They do not use email. I am not sure what is wrong with NYU Langone, but they have not yet caught up to the fact that it’s 2014 and email is a thing. They keep asking me to fax them things. Hello? I don’t even know where the nearest fax machine is. I think it stayed back in the 20^th century, along with the CD player.
2) They have policies that burden the patient excessively and actually waste time. For example, only one receptionist serves all the offices on the second floor and if you don’t know that, well, good luck checking in before your appointment.
Or asking me to go back to another hospital to get a new *paper* prescription written in the way they like. Because hey, I have nothing else to do.
3) Last time I was there for a routine check up, they made me wait in a gown for 30 minutes before the doctor came in to tell me my insurance won’t pay for my annual exam yet, so I need to leave and come back in 14 days.
So yeah, if you have extra time to be on the phone with them, fax them things and wait around in their shiny new building, go ahead, trust them with your care.

This is a review based on my experience with Dr. Dardik (OB-​GYN). While the actual office visit was pleasant and easy to organize, the follow up care has been a DISASTER. I called with a very simple request to switch my prescription so that I could buy a generic brand. The office said that would be no problem.
It’s now been 4 months, at least 15 phone calls, and one office visit, and they still haven’t gotten it right. I’ve offered to come in for another scheduled visit, requested to speak with another doctor and for a complaints department. The doctors are basically masters of their own domain, and no one can help me.
Dr. Dardik and her staff should be well aware of the need for responding quickly and efficiently to prescription requests from their patients; their actions (or lack of) are, frankly, professionally irresponsible.
When I first scheduled my appointment, I was amazed at how quickly I was able to get a spot (same week!). Now I wonder if it’s because the office is so poorly run that nobody every comes back. I know I won’t.

The Tisch Center for Women’s Health is party of the NYU Langone system and is a fabulous practice on the upper east side. Dr. Peggy Yih has been my primary care physician for several years and is wonderful — personal, professional, and makes me feel comfortable and well taken care of. She calls me personally with results and returns my calls if I speak to the front desk about a question.
I’ve never had a problem getting an appointment, even on the same day. Even if Dr. Yih isn’t available, one of the other doctors sees me. Since they use electronic medical records, everything is seamless. They can easily see my whole history since I have been with them and make sure you get the care you need if you are in a time crunch.
You can get most things done here, including OBGYN, specialists, blood tests, etc. Everyone I have interacted with, from doctors and nurses to lab technicians and front desk staff, has been wonderful. The office is clean and new, with what seems to be updated equipment (though what do I know!).
It’s a great one-​stop shop an conveniently located near the 4÷5÷6 stop at 86^th street.
