When I called Dr. Slater’s office in the morning with an urgent problem, not only was I able to obtain an appointment on the same day, but he was able to arrange for me to have the necessary diagnostic test at the facility prior to the visit — and he called me after regular hours with an important lab result to discuss the resulting medication adjustment. The actual quality of the care goes without saying. Also would like to give credit to his nurse, Barbara, for her role in implementing all of this.

I trust my heart — and my husband’s heart — to Dr. William Slater. He is the best of the best, kind, understanding, caring and knowledgeable. I never feel rushed, I always feel that I am getting the best medical care. It’s a wonderful feeling to know you’re in the capable hands of one of the best cardiologists on earth.

I have rarely encountered any physician as understanding and respectful as Dr. Slater. I am very grateful to my primary care physician for having recommended him when I was in need of a cardiologist. In fact, the care and concern I experienced at NYU Langone’s cardiac unit was incredible.

Dr. Slater is a wonderful, gifted, and caring physician. Speaking as a physician, I would recommend everyone I knew to Dr. Slater. He is one of the most respected physicians at NYU Langone. He has won all the major teaching awards. He is the one medical student, residents, fellows, and other attendings go to for advice and guidance.

Unfortunate that I’ve found myself writing a review for a cardiologist, but never mind that for now. Since I HAD to see a cardiologist, I’m so glad that it was Dr. Slater. I can’t say enough nice things about him. He keeps late hours so that he’s almost always available. He always follows up with a phone call to see how you’re doing, even in the evenings from his home. He answers questions in a sensible, non-jargony manner without making you feel like a dope.(He’s a professor at the NYU teaching hospital and even the interns adore him as a teacher.) But what most impressed me and inspired me to write this review was that at our very first appointment he determined my problem wasn’t heart-related, so it would have been easy for him to say, «Not my problem.» Yet he’s continued to follow my case, sending me off to tests that have nothing to do with cardiology and monitoring the results carefully — and still keeps up with those follow-up phone calls! Seems like that kind of personal attention is all too lacking in the medical profession these days, so as far as I’m concerned, Dr. Slater is an all-star.
