Wholesome Garden Pizza

Pizza is pretty good. Not amazing but still good enough that I continuously go back. The people that work there need an attitude adjustment or something. Maybe just a smile here and there will brighten their moods. I haven’t tried the desserts but apparently they are delicious.
Would recommend for a quick slice or two!

The name leads you to think that the ingredients are organic. Mediocre food. Nothing fresh or organic about the food.

For a Christmas Eve order, the experience was perfect. We’ve lived around the corner for months, and finally tried these guys based on other recommendations. The pizza; pepperoni, onion, mushroom; and a few wings was FANTASTIC! The ingredients are so fresh, the delivery was super fast. This is now our go to pizza joint in Hamilton Heights.

I ordered takeout. Delivery was pretty quick (I live a few blocks away) and I was very happy to be able to order juice delivered to my door.
I got a carrot/​apple/​ginger juice which was fantastic (and very gingery) and then a personal pizza.
The pizza was okay, I had cheese with artichoke hearts, olives and prosciutto. The artichokes were kind of dry. The brick oven pizza place on 151^st and broadway (Bono Trattoria) is much better. I had pretty much the same pizza there once and it was amazing.
But I will probably order from Wholesome garden again for the juice at least.

Wholesome for your toilet definitely. Shit.
Seriously though. Way to greasy and the presentation is seriously lacking. Go somewhere else.

Pizza is fair, nothing amazing. I’ve tried it a couple times.
The «Grade Pending» on the window is usually enough to give me pause. Today though, we ordered for convenience sake… And regretted it.
When the delivery arrived, it was missing half of the order. We called the restaurant and they argued with us about the order, blaming us for ordering incorrectly — saying we had «changed our mind» when actually we had simply ordered two items. When we attempted to place another order to compensate for what wasn’t delivered, the woman on the line said «No, we can’t. We’re out of cheese.» How about that, a pizza shop that’s out of cheese. Suspicious.
The delivery guy was so polite and ashamed, he kept saying he wanted to make it right. When he called the restaurant we could hear the woman on the other end yelling at him. Classy.
Safe to say we won’t be returning here.

Ordered takeout and found a fly in my pizza. We weren’t offered anything. Not even given an apology. In fact we were given an attitude by whoever works in the back. Won’t be buying here again.

Prior to today I would have given this place 5 stars. I’ve ordered online and in person many times. I normally like to get the Wholesome Garden pie. The ingredients are clearly fresh and they are super quick with the order when you’re waiting in person. This is one of the better pizza spots in Hamilton Heights.
Tonight I ordered a small Wholesome Garden and small Cheese pie. Both arrived as if someone were playing catch with the box. (See photo) That’s definitely unacceptable and has happened to my brother in the past as well. If this keeps up, rather than raving about how awesome this place is I will continue to let people know how terrible their delivery service really is around here.

For the last month they’ve had a C rating by the health department in their window, but they took that out of the window last week and put up a Grade Pending sign from May 2015. Very shady.

I really want to like this place, but thus far my experience here has been inconsistent and disappointing to say the least.
I have had pizza here when it is fresh and just came out of the oven (just before 11 am). That’s almost the only time you can plan on getting fresh pizza here unless you order a pie for yourself. It was actually pretty good when it was fresh. However, every other time I have been here the selection of about 10 different pies appear to have been sitting out for a LONG time. Some of them I would venture to guess have been there since 11am and I’m talkin at like 8pm.
That’s not the only thing that is hard to get fresh, they have buffalo and BBQ wings sitting out all day and all of their paninis sit out all day as well.
Since I wanted something fresh I ordered the bacon philly steak. I ordered it without lettuce, tomato, and onion. It arrived with lettuce. It was a forgivable mistake, especially since the sandwich was pretty good and they didn’t skimp on the bacon. I was very happy with the sandwich, so I returned to order it again. I ordered it the exact same way. This time they didn’t put the lettuce on it, but they added peppers. Again, not a terrible mistake, but they are not in the description not were they in the sandwich I ordered last time which was the exact same one. This time it was very dry and had very little bacon on it. Honestly, I ordered the exact same sandwich and had an entirely different experience. If the first sandwich was 4 – 4.5 stars this one was 2 – 2.5 stars. I ordered it at the counter and waited for it both times. There is no excuse for such a large discrepancy.
Bottom line, this place can be good or bad depending on how lucky you are that day, but don’t go for a slice unless it’s at 11am. I don’t like to hope to be lucky each time I go somewhere for food. I will give them a try with ordering a pie. If that’s not good I think that will be the end of my experiences at Wholesome Garden Pizza. I hope the owner reads this and does some things to remedy these issue because I feel like the potential to be a pretty good place is there.

I’ve enjoyed everything I’ve tried here. Finally there is a decent place in the area to get pizza.
The pizza is not the best in NYC but it’s affordable and available. The panini and other offerings are decent as well. I will definitely go back. Hope it lasts in that neighborhood.

This is our 3^rd time ordering from this place. We ordered a burger with No Cheese & No Mayo.
We received an incorrect order. We called to get a replacement & were told that we can get the correct order TOMORROW. We called GrubHub for assistance & miraculously Wholesome Gardarn was willing to do the right thing today. Disappointing. Come on guys, thanks for the replacement, but not cool.

This is the second time I order here. Staff was friendly, my order was ready in 5 min and they gave me a lot of fries with my burger :) I will definitely come back to try their pizza!

Holding off on the 5 stars until I order again, but really good sandwiches and paninis. Friendly over the phone.
