West 57th Street by Hilton Club

1. This is the most money I’ve ever paid for a hotel, my first visit to NYC since 1964, when my parents took me to the World’s Fair.
2. Hilton Grand Vacation owners can reserve 9 months in advance at the HGV website, except West 57^th St NYC, where one can only reserve 45 days in advance.
3. March 27 we saw a rare 5 night Sunday-​Thursday vacancy May 1 – 6 on the HGV web site, and reserved a ‘studio plus’. 2 consecutive nights is the longest vacancy I’ve seen for the 1 bedroom suites.
4. Our five day reservation cost 3,160 HGV points, or about $ 400 per night, all taxes included. Friday-​Saturday nights double the cost in points, or $ 100 per night surcharge.
5. 161 studios and 1 bedroom suites on 28 floors, timeshare owned. Vacancies rented out to the public, and with a 45 day notice, to HGV owners.
6. We arrived by taxi at 10am in the cold rain –it rained or showered 4 of the 7 days we were here in May. Uniformed doorman in derby hat to open the door, and take your luggage inside.
7. Very small lobby, but with a unisex bathroom, next to a business center, free to guests, with 3 pcs and printer. Exercise room here.
8. Only room for 6 guests to sit in the lobby, taken up by guests sleeping –must have been on red eye flights!
9. We left our luggage with the luggage room people, and asked to be texted when our room was ready.
10. Room preferences: room facing north toward busy 57^th avenue will likely be low, and construction across the street, or can be much higher facing the south toward the inner court yard, and available earlier.
11. We choose a room facing south, and went out the door, walking 15 minutes with a W57 umbrella to the Times Square TKTS center selling half price Broadway shows playing at 2pm.
12. Our room 1802 was ready by noon, and we went up one of two quick elevators which access the 28 floors.
13. Our 355 square foot room on the 18^th floor faced the courtyard, and was very close to the elevator, but we did not hear noises during our 5 day stay.
14. Hardwood floors, king size platform bed with drawers underneath, all dominated by floor to ceiling windows stretching the entire width of the room. Very luxurious.
15. Amenities: 37″ HD flat screen TV, 5 foot long work desk, wheeled leather desk chair, plush leather lounge chair, refrigerator, 2^nd refrigerator of sale items, electronic safe, free wifi for HHonors guests (free to join), and landline phone for room service. Modern AC and heater.
16. Light transparent shower area, so you can watch the shadow of your SO taking a shower. My wife didn’t care to see my 63 year old shadow, so this was not a perk for her!
17. Bathroom large enough for 2 people to use at the same time. Long marble sink top with top of the line sink fixtures. Toilet in the far corner behind the shower wall for privacy.
18. Excellent sound insulation –never heard any of the guests next door, above or below me, nor any noises outside the window. Small section of windows open 6″.
19. Six types of rooms available for rent to the public:
a. Studio plus: 355 sq feet $ 427+
b. Studio premier: 463 sq feet on floors 21 – 24
c. 1 bedroom: up to 710 sq feet, separate tub and shower stall, 2 desk chairs, 2×37 TVs
d. 1 bedroom plus
e. 1 bedroom premier: 570 sq foot $ 694+ on floors 15,21−24, with private balcony
f 1 bedroom penthouse: 718 sq foot $ 1086+ on 25^th floor, access to the 25^th floor terrace, and private balcony.
20. HGV Owners of West 57^th St have access to the owners lounge on the 2^nd floor, and the owners restaurant and patio on the 1^st floor.
21. Studios can sleep 2, and the 1 bedrooms sleep 4, with 2 sleeping on the pull out sofa bed in the living room of the suite –recommended only for small children!
22. Order housekeeping by phone the next day. Sheets changed by default every third day. $ 92.50 cleaning fee for stays of less than 4 days.
23. Valet parking $ 48 a day, with no in/​out privileges.
24. Ask for the Hilton discount card good for 15% off at 40+ restaurants, attractions in the area.
25. 1 block to Carnegie Hall, 3 blocks to Rockefeller Center, 2 blocks to Central Park. Subway stations 1 – 2 blocks away on each side for access to Statue of Liberty, Empire State Building.
26. It was raining, so attended a 2 hr. timeshare sales presentation at the midtown Hilton to get a one night credit towards our next Hilton stay. We got a free breakfast.
27. Turned down 1900 HGV points for $ 700 with 9 months advance reservations at West 57^th, and the new Washington DC HGV.
28. No kitchen, no washer/​dryer, no pool, unlike other HGV resorts, and no microwave –if you can afford this hotel then you can afford to eat out every meal, and you don’t eat leftovers!

Someone from Hilton Grand Vacation sold us a package for this property. Super nice at that time. Paid extra for the weeked, Promised club level etc etc. Now at the time of making reservation, very few dates are available even 3 months out. Telling me that only one room is available for the date I don’t want in August, AND trying to charge $ 100 extra for the weekend even though I paid for it. Please don’t fall for this scam.

Very poor guest relations! We recently booked 2 studios & requested rooms next to each other as well as early check in. The Front desk Manager gladly reserved the rooms for us but couldn’t guarantee early check in. We were told we can leave our bags while waiting for the rooms. I left my phone # with the young lady who checked us in. After a few hours I called to see if a room was available because I wasn’t feeling good from the redeye flight we took. Got a room, was told the other one will not be next to it but on the same floor & 3 doors down and will be available at check in time of 4pm. I called after 4pm & the room is still not ready. I asked to speak with a Manager who raised his voice, was rude & basically told me they r just trying to accommodate us. He said there was a plumbing problem in the other room. But it sounded like it was not their fault because they r just trying to accommodate us. We ended up transferring to separate rooms in another floor, rooms that were still DIRTY (did not vacuum, trash can on top of sink) just to «accommodate» us, I guess! Oh, we paid $ 85 per room for cleaning coz we stayed less than 4 nights. But they obviously did not clean thoroughly. Bring lysol!!!
Night crew don’t seem to care who comes in to the property and poses a serious threat to guests’ safety & security. Be prepared not to be acknowledged, at all! The friendliest staff are the doormen & bellhop.
They only have fresh coffee in the lobby in the early mornings!
We have owned Hilton timeshare in Las Vegas for over 10 years. This does not happen in Vegas!!!
I’m giving 2 stars because of nice location & friendly doormen/​bellhop! Everything else do not meet my expectations. Very bad! DO NOT BUY FROM HERE.

We loved everything about our visit. This was the second penthouse stay here and it will not be the last. The suite, large by many standards, let alone NYC, has fantastic city views (Radio City area) from the room. The enormous private balcony overlooks Central Park. The staff provides the individual attention one comes to expect from the Hilton Clubs, and then takes it up a notch or two. The minibar is well stocked and room service is available (provided by the Brooklyn Diner).

Exceptional hotel in the best location. Cannot rave enough about our room — truly one of the nicest rooms we’ve ever enjoyed.
Felt uncomfortable with the Hilton Club sales pitch that just didn’t make financial sense. However, it was worth going through the sales meeting to stay at Hilton 57.

This Hilton Grand Vacation Club timeshare is much classier than the many tacky timeshares littering Orlando and Las Vegas.
It has an excellent location, near Central Park, high end shopping and Broadway.
It is, not surprisingly, not for the budget concious (except in comparison to luxury NYC hotels). Be sure you inquire about parking and cleaning fees.

Poor treatment and prepare to be woken by construction.
The first person I encountered entering the lobby was a tall man behind the desk who ignored me. I stood back and waited. No words. Some time goes by. Another rep emerges and finally greets me. Mind you the lobby isn’t so big, so that was awkward.
Things improve. The studio premier suite provided delightful accommodation with a wonderful view. We were on the 23^rd floor. Which is why I was so shocked when, before 8am, I was awoken to construction noise that sounded so loud you would have thought it were directly outside the window.
Keep in mind I’m only here for one night so the whole point of my hotel stay is a good nights sleep. It continues nonstop well into the day. It was futile to try to go back to sleep, even with earplugs! My aunt begins taking medicine because the sound is so loud it’s giving her headaches.
Side frustrations with the way my family and I are looked at by some staff and guests was already having me feel not welcomed. You are constantly reminded, if you’re an owner who doesn’t own in NY, that you don’t own at NY, and that their club is a «special» club for which their lounge, and all other amenities are solely for, because they’re «special» and that’s why you should own there. The whole thing is ridiculous lol. The sales woman who phoned the day prior to my arrival told me how lucky I was to even get a one night reservation there, but also chose to politely not inform me of the construction across the street. Of course the people who persuade you to come back are the housekeepers and bellmen, just delightful. Otherwise I would think twice about staying at this location ever again.
What led me to leave a bad review was finally Carmen the manager. When I complained about the noise I was given the cold stare. Which, I kinda wasn’t even mad at because it’s sales and I’d already decided I wasn’t ever returning but I hoped she might redeem this location. The excuse Carmen provided for why my problem isn’t her problem while staying at her establishment is «the hotel doesn’t know the construction schedule so they don’t know when construction will be going on». Really, but you still know there’s a construction SITE directly across the street, and yes we can hear it when the entire side of the building is glass, even on the 23^rd floor! I’m not mad there’s construction in NYC. I just wish I would have known. Most places include that detail on their webpages and inform you. I know wasn’t the only complaint.

I’m a HGVC Elite member. They promise you the world. The website says breakfast is included, but then they tell you that you must be an owner there. Website doesn’t say that. If I go to a sales pitch they’ll give something. But I don’t want to give up 1 hour (right!) Of my vacation. People are nice. Studio small but great for NYC. Who stays in room here?

This is a Hilton Timeshare property for people who belong to the Hilton Grand Vacation Club. The lobby of the building does look very nice. The rooms are very small and you can hear your neighbors next to and above and below.
The linens and towels remind of laundry that was processed by the military. Most HGVC timeshares have a washer/​dryer this one does not. The WiFi was poor on my floor. In the bathroom beside the toilet there was a blood stain on the wall that just gross.
They offer in room dining. There is no table so you are force to eat in bed or stand. The staff was pleasant and professional. The timeshare sales staff was very pushy. So I recommend you avoid them.
It was very easy access to the Q line of the subway and plenty of nearby places to eat or you could just take a ride on the subway and go anywhere. About all I did was sleep in the room because you could not do much else.
Would I stay here again, yes but I would check the room for cleanliness the daylight first. An apology from management would have gone a very long way.

I have stayed at many grand vacation club timeshares in the US and had high expectations coming here. I was not disappointed. It definitely had a different feel than most timeshares. It was more like a hotel, which is to be expected as this is NYC. The location was perfect. An easy walk to central park, times square, and the theater district. The subway is also only one block down. We valet parked our car, which is $ 48 a day. The room we had was a studio plus, with one king size bed, a large bathroom with a shower big enough for two and a mini fridge/​bar. We overlooked the street and had a great view. The staff was very helpful and accommodating. The concierge was able to help us with subway directions and other tips. There is also a Duane Reede mini grocery store right next to the building that sells food and alcohol, which was very convenient. I will definitely return!

Top notch service and incredible staff .
I stay at this property annually for the Thanksgiving week. Cleanliness and amenities are ⁵⁄₅. Located on same block as Carneige Hall between 6 and 7 th Ave I would say this is the best property in midtown. Great stores, restaurants and fun right out the door.

I had a studio premier room at the West 57^th in early August 2014. The room was modern, luxurious and spacious. It’s well situated, just south of Central Park within a block from the 57^th St station on the F line. I usually stay in Midtown near Times Square, but if you don’t need to be near all that craziness, this is more central and quieter place to stay.

You can’t control construction in NYC, but you can control what rooms you put your guests in.
We only had 2 nights here, 1 night was awful and 1 night was great. So to me, that’s a fail, but I’ll go for 3 stars.
First night, we checked in early and was given a 3^rd floor room facing 57^th street. We see that there’s major construction going on across the street, but it didn’t occur to us that it would be a problem, so we dropped off our luggage and left. Come 6 am sharp, jack hammering starts. And it doesn’t stop. It’s loud. So loud that when we call downstairs to ask for a room switch, the girl on the other end says, «You want a quieter room right?»
MAJOR BEEF. You know that room is loud, you know there’s construction, you know anyone that’s not deaf is going to complain, so why put us through that agony? We had to pack all our luggage and bring everything down just to bring it all up again at a later time that morning to a different room.
Second night, we have a rear facing room on a higher floor, we slept like babies. No complaints. Fantastic girl at front desk who helped us out very kindly.
So yes, the staff is accommodating, but had the gentleman told us from the beginning, «You’re checking in early, all I have is a lower floor room but there’s construction, so it’s noisy… how about you drop your luggage, and once we have a better room, we’ll check you in?» I would be so grateful, so impressed, and would happily give a 5 star review as many others have.
ALSO-​we booked this room with points, my father’s an Elite member and we used his points as guests. He told us to check it out and see if it was worth a timeshare as we travel there quite a bit. Sorry dad, it’s a pass.

I have been here three times and this is by far one of the best hotels out there. The rooms: MASSIVE. The service: WONDERFUL. The location: PERFECT. What’s not to love? Oh, and since I come for my friend’s birthday every year, they always treat us with chocolate covered strawberries!
The owner’s lounge is the best perk of the hotel. Free breakfast buffet every day AND a 2-​hour happy hour with UNLIMITED WINE AND BEER? I think so. The wine, by the way, is excellent. And the food is great too. Every year they change up their menu a little bit but a few items are standard like the guacamole, which happens to be some of my favorite guacamole in all of Manhattan. Of all places, who would’ve thought a random hotel in Midtown would have a secret like that! (If you look at the room service menu, the guacamole is $ 18 so STOCK UP at happy hour). The homemade house chips are amazing too. They also always have a cheese platter and veggies with dip. Other foods they’ve had in the past are bacon-​wrapped dates, chicken quesadillas, fried risotto balls, bruschetta, curried chicken, and hummus with pita. The woman who runs the owner’s lounge is incredible too, she ACTUALLY REMEMBERS people!!!
On a side note, the bathrooms have great products. I’m talking Sephora quality.

This hotel surpasses Hilton standards! The room and amenities are great! Location is great! Just around the corner from the subway, Central Park, Madison Avenue, etc. I stayed in an executive suite which was huge. All the furniture and appliances were modern. There was a good size refrigerator and other perks.
I really liked how spacious the bathroom was and that it had all sorts of nozzles coming at you from every angle. For me the showers here were the main event. I used way more water then I should have.
I am a Hilton Honors Gold Member so they went above and beyond to make sure I was happy. I can’t wait to stay here again.

Terrific location. I’m close to everything I want and enjoy about NYC.

I really enjoyed my stay at this hotel. The location was extremely convenient! There is a subway stop one block away, and Central Park was around the corner. I didn’t realize it when I booked the hotel, but this was part of their timeshare program, so there were regular visitors in the hotel which had purchased a timeshare.
I was able to check in earlier than I expected, which was helpful as there was not a ton of common space in the lobby when you walk in. The associate checking me in reviewed the welcome letter which detailed the complimentary wi-​fi and two bottles of water included. Additionally, he provided details about the fitness and business centers on the second floor. I was able to print off my boarding pass in the business center with no problems and the computer was quick.
The room was enormous, given the price by New York City standards. The room had a large bathroom complete with a walk-​in shower. There were ample towels available as well as complimentary toiletry products as well. I had a king-​sized bedroom and there was still enough space to walk around, as the bed didn’t take up the whole room. Luckily, the associate at the front desk offered me a choice of a street– or back-​facing room. I did take a room that did not face the street. I was located on the 19^th floor. The elevators were not the briskest in the world, but it definitely does not stop me from providing a five-​star review.
The fitness center had a good selection of cardio equipment and a few free weights as well.
All in all, I would return to this hotel in a heartbeat. Great location, expansive room, and a friendly staff were the highlights of the hotel.
