Wee Care

My daughter was at Wee Care for one month as I had exams at that month. They really took a good care of my baby in the toddler class, all are friendly and were always giving me a report to see my baby schedule for the day. This May I will have to send her again to a daycare to start my summer semester, and I will not hesitate to register her at Wee Care.

My son has been going to Wee Care since he was three months old. He’s now 9 months and seems to always be smiling, playing and enjoying himself every time we pick him up. The center has a new theme each week for the babies and kids to explore, like learning about snowmen one week in January, pumpkins in November, etc. You get a calendar with the themes and activities they’ll be doing at the beginning of each month. They even do cute arts and crafts projects with the babies almost every week. All in all, my husband and I have been very happy with all of his teachers and meeting the other parents in the school :)

This daycare was the first I sent my child to, so I wasn’t sure what to expect at the time. Now that I have sent him elsewhere, I can say that I would not send my child to Wee Care again. Unfortunately, choices on the UES are limited. My child was in the infant room, so that’s all I can speak to. However, my overall feeling was that the teachers were underpaid, overworked (typical of many daycares, of course), and that they did not have a genuine interest or love for the children. It was more babysitting, making sure kids were fed/​changed/​etc. Lots of bouncer time. Additionally, the infant room is the only room that has any light — the rest of the facility is in the basement, which is just not ideal. During the time he was there, my chil was safe (he only attended for a few months), but I always felt uneasy about leaving him there. The teachers never learned my name (they just call you «mom»), which shows a lack of interest and an impersonal situation, and I noticed that they did not all get along so well with each other, which is not a good sign. Overall, would say you should look elsewhere, even if it costs more money.
