So I’ve gone by the Atrium a few times, but to me, the best thing is that this train station is right under 1 Chase Manhattan Plaza (soon to be renamed). It’s a quick entrance, plus there are photos on the wall leading to building showing the construction of it.
It’s much better than the 4, 5 trains by 1 Chase, is a dungeon, not mention a hell of a walk + stairs.
The 2,3 trains in downtown are also great– they come super fast and connect you to exactly where you could ever need to go in the city– whether it be Atlantic Avenue in Brooklyn or Times Square in Midtown.

Conveniently located below a public space so that you can stay warm before actually heading into the train station. As indicated, unfortunately it only serves the 2,3 trains. During lunchtime on weekdays, the public space/​atrium is a good spot to eat lunch with a friend, but it gets crowded as every seat and table is usually taken, so be there earlier than others! On almost every occasion I’ve been here, unfortunately it’s also a haven for the homeless. You will usually see 1 – 3 homeless persons resting there.

You gotta love a subway station that has an entrance through a public atrium; this one has one of its entries through 60 Wall Street, whose airy room – complete with trees and chirping birds – served for several months as the de facto headquarters of Occupy Wall Street (shhh!)
There was also an Arts for Transit project by Harry Roseman in 1990 which built rocks of bronze onto the wall of one of the entrances – a nice touch. This is the last IRT stop in Manhattan before Clark Street in Brooklyn, and it first opened in 1918, according to

This is a two-​track station, with inbound and outbound trains sharing the same platform; it’s probably the fastest way to get to Flatbush.
