Specialties
We are the first ever Wafels & Dinges Café! Wafels & Dinges brings you the real deal — wafels the really Belgian way
~ Brussels Wafel: Light’n crispy. This is the «Mother of all wafels» and it
first came to New York for the 1964 World Fair. Now it’s back, better than ever.
~ Liege Wafel: Soft’n chewy. This is the «other» Belgian wafel, the one the Belgians kept secret from the world. Sneaky little Belgians.
Everything baked on original Belgian cast iron wafel-makers. Served with a Belgian accent and a big smile.
Don’t forget to ask for some «dinges» on your wafel. Dinges is Belgian slang for «toppings». There’s a lot of choice — everything is premium fresh stuff, and there’s even some awesome like bizarre Belgian speculoos topping… don’t ask, just try.

Meet the Business Owner
Thomas D.
Business Owner
After 12 years as a management consultant for IBM, Thomas DeGeest, 38, looked ahead and saw a choice: a continuation of a cushy and predictable corporate career until retirement or… an adventure in an unknown and unpredictable direction. The native of Belgium could have continued in a solid, but less fulfilling, career or follow the American Dream. He chose the latter and decided to become, of all things, a full-time street vendor!
Leaving a six-figure salary to begin a start-up business wasn’t easy. Thomas pulled money from his IRA and has put vacations with his wife on hold. He now makes a living by selling his favorite childhood treat — authentic Belgian waffles — on the streets of New York City. Thomas founded Wafels and Dinges in October 2007, and began selling freshly made waffles from a yellow 1968 Chevy food-truck.
Thomas is now happy to announce the opening of the first ever Wafels & Dinges Café! Come and enjoy these world famous treats in a homey and friendly café!
