Village Postal Center

This little old lady is out to scam you. She claims I didn’t have enough stamps on my envelopes then charges 65c per stamp. If I didn’t ask questions, like most people, pennies amount to dollars which amount to… More than you should be paying.
Rather than hassling further with her in store, I figured just let others know. Go to CVS for stamps, and get your supplies and copies at Advanced Copy Center a block over.

Wow. Preparing to return to the city after years of living in (gulp) California. How to get our mail sent to the city before we have an address? Call Sandra! :) She was fast, helpful and I can’t wait to meet her and do my shipping, mailing stuff there… Thanks Sandra! See ya soon!

Friendly and helpful every time I have been there in the past 20 years or so. An institution in the neighborhood.

Sandra was extremely helpful and sweet, and saved the day as the only Notary available on a late Saturday afternoon in the West Village/​SoHo area, (found through Unilocal,of course). She did the job efficiently, and only charged for 1 page (even though I had 3) :)
Would definitely go there again for her services, and if you’re in need of some Girl Scout cookies, NYC Tourist items, or need to rent a mail box, stop in!

As good as it gets. Excellent customer service and i’m far to lazy to walk to the post office by Canal Street, so I’ll pay a few extra cents to get things shipped from here. They’re also excellent at shipping via Fed Ex/​UPS.

Fishy… They don’t give quotes for the shipping prices. When they do tell the estimate, it ends up more than what they tell us in the first place. I will try to update the review once the letter arrives.

I’m sure this place is great for what it does, but I had a stack if letters I had to send out certified and purposely didn’t go to the post office during lunch because this place was more convenient.
But when I got there and finished sealing all my envelopes and everything they’re like, sorry, we stopped doing certified mail a year ago.
Ok, that’s fine. Then get it off your website!

The go to spot in the village for all your mailing and shipping needs, Sandra and her staff are great and efficient at getting your mail sent out. I own a box here and have nothing but great things to say about this spot.

Before they moved to this location, my parents often went to their previous location for their mailing needs (stamps and delivery services). I’m assuming the service was great then, and still great now. This page’s storefront images are incorrect in case you are the kind of person who finds a store based on storefront images.
I have not used their mailing services; I drop off boxes here every so often.
One time Fedex had not been picking up packages, but the lady was very apologetic and tried her best to assist me and contact Fedex. Eventually, they came and I got my stuff picked up. A few times, I was short on money and the same lady allowed me pay her back later. Its great how the store puts trust in their customers, not many stores would do this.
I would give this place another star once I use more of their services! But overall, they have been very nice and helpful.

FYI — Notary hours are only from 2PM to 5PM. Plan ahead and don’t waste your time like I did.

Great way to send holiday packages. Walked in with presents, the woman behind the counter gave me my shipping options, she boxed up my packages and I was all set. In and out in 15 minutes, very pleasant experience, loved the personal attention.

I appreciate this place so much, I actually commute from Brooklyn to have my packages mailed from here. There’s never a line, and the people behind the counter are pleasant and actually care about helping you. Most importantly, when you bring a box in to be mailed they won’t gouge you for things like tape and packing peanuts (ahem, UPS Store). Truly a last bastion of competence and customer service.

I absolutely love giving my biz to the wonderful people at Vill Postal Center. When the Post Office closed on Prince & Greene, we were devastated! That’s when we started coming here and we couldn’t be happier.
Not only do they accept mail and packages (FedEx and UPS, too), but they send and received pkgs, faxes, scans, they have a notary, great greeting cards, and they are SO NICE!

During a walk through St. Mark’s Place and Greenwich, I passed by Village Postal Center. Outside were several spindles of postcards that caught my eye. I had been looking for some tasteful prints of NYC that I could frame, rather than tacky tourist postcards — I found those here. No where else had them but here, and they were quite affordable. In addition to the cards, I also bought postage stamps. The woman behind the counter was very friendly and had a thick New York accent. She directed me to a few other shops with different postcards and souvenirs featuring the subway system. It was the kind of interaction a visitor hopes to have when exploring NYC: experiencing the big city charm.

FYI: The address has changed. It is now 217 Thompson Street.
I love this place! The owner is really wonderful. You can tell she has been in the business for a long time and really cares about customer service. She also has such a nice relationship with her employees. Everyone who works there is very pleasant and respectful of each other. And best of all they provide a package receiving service. For a small set up fee and then an even smaller fee per package, they will accept packages for you. I happen to live right across the street in a cute apartment that lacks a doorman. For this insanely low price, I get all the benefits of a doorman for a fraction of the cost :)

The Village Postal Center rents out mail boxes but it does more than that. Besides having an address to have mail sent that you don’t want the person you’re living with to see you don’t have to live in a doorman building to have packages delivered. They also serve as a shipping agent for the big companies saving you a trip to the UPS centers which aren’t very convenient. NYU students get 10% off on the shipping services making it a lot cheaper sending things home at the end of the school year. They have postcards and greeting cards too but that’s not a good reason to go there.
