I cannot believe this place closed. They had the best creamed spinach and AuGratin potatoes that I ever had. Steaks were good as was the onion soup. What a shame

Well, it took me 3 months before being able to not to feel sick to write this review. We spent around $ 400 for 2 and had 3 dozen oysters. My spouse had a bad oysters. I mean BAD! it barely touched his lips and he started to convulse. I could smell it from my seat and started to feel sick. When we shared the experience with the waiter, the manager came to us and his answer was«Well, one out of 3 dozens, that’s not too bad», Well yes, an oyster that smells like the ****** of a ******** ******** should NEVER leave the kitchen! Glad the place is closed!

My happy hour buddies and I have made City Crab our regular spot. One day, we had a hard time getting a table at City Crab, so we crossed the street for happy hour at V&A’s and were pleasantly surprised. The interior is modern and has a true steakhouse feel, very dark, and intimate. But there are also a lot of big windows in the front that make for good people watching on Park Ave South. The happy hour drink specials include $ 4 beers, $ 6 well drinks, and $ 7 wines. The food specials include some small plates for $ 6(e.g. onion rings, bruchetta, shrimp cocktail(3 pcs), etc.) and a few other plates for $ 8 including spicy calamari, shrimp & tenderloin skewers, etc. As drinks go, I’ve only had the Malbec but it is a great choice — no need to fix what ain’t broke! My friend had the Dos Equis and a mojito, which she said was good, and another had the Chardonnay and liked it. They bring a dish of warm spiced nuts to every table. Don’t skip them — They’re delish. To eat, we’ve tried the shrimp & tenderloin skewers, spicy calamari, bruschetta, and the quail. Off the lounge menu(not included in the happy hour pricing), we have tried the steak tacos that come with tempura onion rings. That plate was a substantial portion for $ 13. We split it between two of us and planned to supplement with some happy hour plates and were too full to indulge in anything else. I like to feel like I’m getting my money’s worth, so this made me happy. The star of the happy hour plates is the quail. It’s cooked to perfection, crispy outside, moist inside, with a sweet and spicy sauce baked onto it. I craved it after having it the first time. The most disappointing dish was the skewers. They brought them to the table and we thought they’d gotten out order wrong. What we received looked like two huge shrimp on a stick. But where was the tenderloin? We asked the server to come back and explained our concern and she told us the tenderloin was inside the shrimp(which had folded around the stick). Sure enough, when we used a fork to open the shrimp, there was the tenderloin… But it was the tiniest little cube of meat I’ve ever seen! It was a little pathetic. These should not be marketed as «shrimp & tenderloin» skewers because the tenderloin is basically nonexistent. We’ve also had the crab cake at V&A’s(also NOT on the happy hour menu) and it was INCREDIBLE! I’d say this is, by far, the best crab cake I’ve had in NYC. And I’m from Maryland, so I KNOW my crab cakes. It’s $ 20+ for one crab cake(with no sides), but totally worth every penny. It’s all lump crab meat with little to no filler. So yummy! Last night, we gave dessert a try. All the desserts on the menu sounded great but we asked for a recommendation and were told that we HAD to get the bread pudding because«it’s like French toast that died and went to heaven».(Have you noticed yet how French toast is a recurring theme with me? And I swear I didn’t even like French toast until 2014, but now it’s everywhere!) Well, the server was right. The croissant bread pudding was some of the best I’ve ever had! Buttery, sweet(but not too sweet) and a little salty from the brittle bits sprinkled on top. The gelato was the perfect complement, and it was finished off with a good drizzle of caramel. So rich and sinful! The portion was healthy… we couldn’t even finish the dessert, but not for lack of trying! I love V&A’s. City Crab has gotten so crowded and I wondered whether I should even review this place out if concern that my new spot would get overrun, but I decided not to be selfish and to instead share the V&A love. Enjoy!

They had me at warm bread and soft butter… Shrimp cocktail to start was the standard– good, meaty, and in a bigger portion than I initially thought(6 or 7 in an order I think). But it’s hard to mess up shrimp cocktail. Then I had the filet mignon with a side of spinach. The filet sliced like butter and was cooked to perfection! It was so juicy and flavorful– exactly how a steak should be for any restaurant to claim to be a steakhouse. There were hints of garlic and peppercorn(among other things) seemingly toasted on the outside which locked in the juices of the meat on the inside. Surprisingly, the side of spinach was made to share. It is pricey so maybe this place will only be reserved for happy hour or special occasions on my list– but generally, if you have the money to spend and want a satisfying meal– I would recommend this place. Overall, I had a great experience here and would def come again. I’m just sad I didn’t get to indulge in any of the desserts as I over-did it with the bread in the beginning :(

Took my wife for her birthday. The restaurant met and exceeded my expectations. The appetizers and the entrees were delicious. The staff was friendly, informative and helpful with menu selections. We were stuffed, the food was fresh and cooked well. Nice, décor., tables and seating. Lovely ambiance as well. My steak was very very good. Nice bar Desserts are good also. We were pleasantly surprised and happy with our night out

Oh, Angelo and Maxie’s, how I miss you. Vic and Anthony’s, which took the place of A&M’s, just isn’t the same. For starters, V&A is a chain; it has restaurants in AC and Vegas, and the décor in this V&A is unfortunately comparable to what you would expect in a casino resort town, not Park Ave. or any steakhouse in Manhattan. However, the main problem is that this steakhouse completely overcooked my steak. I ordered the 6 oz filet, my fiancé, the 10 oz filet. Both were ordered rare, and mine was served medium. My guess is that they wanted them to come out at the same time, and instead of delaying the cook time on mine, took it off the pan earlier, which allowed it to continue to cook. And if you overcook my steak, you might as well stick a dagger in my heart. The lobster mac and cheese was good though, so I’ll give V&A’s two stars for that. But for steak, I’m sticking to Keens next time.

Was our first time on a last min Saturday dinner since we live a few min walk away. Even though the impression when you walk in and see the bar/lounge is grand and modern, the main dining area is modern but a bit tacky* *It just appeared to me that the pattern of the carpet and lighted columns in the middle of the room«showcasing wine bottles» inside are over the top and not tasteful. This is not Las Vegas, people. But OK, big tables and chunky chairs were comfortable, and we didn’t hear the music, which made the room quaint and quiet, and it was SONICE. Service was good. Everyone was nice. The FOOD: Everything was just meh, except the main(filet mignon), which was a great cut of meat, well seasoned, and cooked as ordered. But beet salad lacked flavor, and blue point oysters? Cheap restos can have blue point because they’re the cheapest oysters. They should have something a little more interesting! And the side sauce we ordered, blue cheese bacon, was okay but the oil had separated from cheese. Perhaps it should have been served warm? Do NOT order their Cream of Spinach! it was way too rich with way too much cheese we could not have more than a couple of bite each. If you like cream of spinach, go to BLT Steak where theirs is very good. Lastly, their wine list looked decent and the prices on the wine by the glass were reasonable. I don’t know if i’ll go back. Maybe when i crave for red meat and cannot book a table anywhere, which will not happen for a while. But next time definitely NOT ordering their Cream of Spinach. Yuck.

The green beans are seriously out of this world. My favorite part of the meal without a doubt, I would come back just for them. I don’t even know what was on them, lots of something fatty I’m sure, but they were delicious. I had the chopped salad for my starter which I would pass on next time, it wasn’t really my thing. I’m not a huge fan of finely chopped salads and the dressing was a bit too drenched in dressing. I had a 10oz filet which I enjoyed. My only gripe is that it was drenched in butter which I’m not a fan. The steak was cooked well and had a nice sear, I had no problems finishing it off. I also had the mashed potatoes which were good but pretty standard. For desert I had cheesecake which was nice and heavy and decadent. Overall I enjoyed my meal and would return. I’m still a Del Frisco’s fan but Vic and Anthony’s is a close second for me.

This is a really great happy hour for the type of swanky establishment that it conveys. Situated near Union Square, it was a convenient enough meeting point between my job and my friend’s and she happened to have free appetizer coupons from having terrible service during a corporate lunch. Of course I’m going to bounce on that. I ended up arriving first, naturally. The lights are dim but offer a soothing pale blue, violet hue around the bar area and black marble high top bar. There was live jazz music going on and I was pleased with the extra addition and distraction. This reminds me of McCormick and Schmick’s in Midtown, but maybe even a little bit more upscale. You can get a $ 60 bone in steak here. Or you can indulge in that wonderful little happy hour menu that goes from 4−8pm. $ 4 domestic, $ 5 imported beers(beer selection is not great), $ 6 wells, and $ 7 wines. I went with wine because why not on a Tuesday night? The Wild Rock Pinot Noir from Central Otago, New Zealand was amazing and smooth as butter. My friend arrived shortly and she got the Lamadrid Torrontes from La Rioja, Argentina. I know nothing of that particular type of wine other than it is tasty and white. For appetizers we split the tomato and house-made mozzarella bruschetta and the cured meat and artisanal cheese plate. Both were very small and well free for us or normally $ 6 each. They also have $ 8 appetizer platters that are a little bit larger. On the meat and cheese plate, they had a type of prosciutto and salami, though the man didn’t explain what anything was, he just plopped it down in front of our faces. Then the cheese was possibly manchego and a type of brie. Both were okay, nothing fantastic and literally one piece of salami and prosciutto that we cut in half. Kind of funny. The bruschetta was definitely more worth it and pretty great with aged balsamic vinegar and olive oil drizzled liberally around the plate. Other options were jumbo shrimp, oysters, and onion rings but I was not feeling any of those that particular day. Oh! They also give you complimentary warm nuts. I like the atmosphere here. Small plates were mediocre. Drinks were fantastic. Service was confusing because he charged us by accident for our appetizers after he confirmed that they were indeed complimentary and it took a long time for the bartender to correct the mistaken transaction.

This is a review of the happy hour at Vic and Anthony’s. Fantastic! I found an article of the best $ 1 oyster happy hours in NYC and this was listed, and they were right. The oysters were nice and big, and the mignonette was delicious. There were all sorts of little tastes available for either $ 6 or $ 8, including a little cheese and meat plate that was just right. Loved the open air front of the restaurant with nice live Frank Sinatra-like music. Also, enjoyed the nice variety of wines at a good place, including a nice Torrontes from Argentina. Definitely not bottom of the barrel wines as some happy hours will do. And the service was awesome. I think Michelle was her name. She was top notch. We felt like VIPs. Definitely a find.

Came in for Restaurant Week Dinner. I got the Berg Salad, which is a wedge of iceberg lettuce w/tomato, bacon, bleu cheese and chopped up hard boiled egg(aka a Cobb salad). Pretty good! and surprisingly filling. Main course was the 6 oz filet mignon with a heaping portion of mashed potatoes. Potatoes were a little too salty for my taste, but the steak was cooked to perfection to my requested med rare. Dessert for me was the bread pudding with a scoop of ice cream on top. A delicious, warm/cold, gooey end to my meal. Great service too(very sweet guy, very attentive to our needs) ! Will hopefully come by again.

Vic & Anthony’s Steakhouse in NYC I had their unique Slider Sampler: includes the Vic, Anthony & Benedict best part during Happy Hour and it’s only $ 8! score! About the burgers: Vic Burger — american & white cheddar, smoked bacon(tasty and ok) Anthony Burger — saga bleu cheese, crisp greens, tomato & red onion(good not a big fan of bleu cheese) And my personal favorite the«Benedict It’s topped with crisp Serrano ham, an over easy egg, and hollandaise. Yes Eggs Benedict flavor on a burger !!! Yum! Would go back for a whole one but they only server if happy hour I believe. Other menu items look also good, staff is friendly and helpful, beautiful atmosphere Keep it mind for a special occasion event.

I’ve been lucky enough to eat in many of the best steakhouses in the country. This place could be in the discussion. If not nationally, definitely top two or three in NYC. First, we walked in around 8:30 on a Saturday night and we were sat immediately… Obviously this place just hasn’t been discovered yet. Second, food quality was outstanding, wine list comprehensive, and cocktails amazing. The mojito with a birch beer base was especially good. Apps were wonderful, I recommend the thick bacon. Steak was seasoned and cooked perfectly. Desserts were out of this world. I don’t love cheesecake, but their cheesecake was an experience. Light, velvety, and richly flavored. Service was also very strong. Last, but not least, price was very reasonable for an upscale manhattan restaurant… Not a budget conscious place, but definitely less expensive than other high end Manhattan steakhouses

Very nice atmosphere and very good food. We had: Baked clams: nothing special Calimari: very good. Made with onions removing the need for cocktail sauce Red snapper with crabmeat: scrumptious Fillet topped with crabmeat: see above Cheesecake: ok Prices are good. Good vibe. Would go again. Second visit. Perfect service all around. Thanks Paul! Calamari seemed even better this time. Also had surf and turn. Fillet was extra tender. Also tried the cream spinach… meh! Too cheesey.

De. Lic. Ious. This place was FANTASTIC! My boyfriend and I went to Gramercy first and were underwhelmed, so we walked out and found this place. Everything we got was exquisite! Beet salad — YUM. Creamed spinach — AMAZING. Ribeye — DIVINE. Sea salt fries — Okay… those were just«OK». Service was fantastic. Waitress was excellent. This is by FAR the best restaurant I’ve been to in NYC since I’ve moved here.

Just there last night and the service was excellent… then again I was there with my agent who seemed to know everyone there, so maybe my assessment isn’t a fair one? Anyho, the staff were great and helpful. We sat at the bar and ordered from their happy hour menu. Sampled a few very tasty treats like Maple glazed Quail(my first time!), Bruschetta, Clams Oreganato and a Shrimp and Steak on a skewer appetizer. Everything was very good, esp the Quail but the steak on the shrimp app was so tiny, it was like a pebble of meat! And that was a bit off putting. But I still give 4 stars because our cocktails were excellent, my French martini was perfectly made and the rest of the food was yummy. Now the reason we came to this place, other than it being near her office was because I have just gotten back from Vegas and she said they had sparkly chairs and girls dressed in sequins so I’d feel Vegas-y. LOL Well, she was right! Waitresses are dressed in sequined dresses and the chairs did have some sheen. One final note… during happy hour a Jazzy three piece trio called«Janetta’s Vendetta» play. I wonder who pissed her off?

I really wanted to love this place, or at the very least, like it. We frequent all the regular places at least twice per month — The Palm, Strip House, Old Homestead, etc., all excellent, but have been searching for a place with a bit more of a hip vibe. The Décor — Seems cool when you first walk in but the décor then goes to Vegas as soon as you walk to the main dining area. Loved the dark gray walls, black & white photos and large candles, but the place starts to feel a bit like Caesars’ Palace with the white bulbs affixed to the ceiling, the lighted columns and those large red hued glass installations which feel out of place. The music was also a bit too loud and that, coupled with the regular noise level, left us yelling at our dinner companions– and there were only four of us in a booth. The music was turned down eventually, yet the décor still left us wondering if Elvis would soon be entering the building. Service: Our waiter was friendly and professional. Very attentive at the begining of the meal, but less so as the place started to get crowded. He seemed to be covering more than his share of tables. Starters & Sides: Raw oysters both East & West Coast(very good), Tuna Tarter(way too fishy, which my palate translates into not fresh) We wanted to order a chopped salad but were turned off by their version — «mixed greens with white and yellow cheddar cheese and salami». Is this a NYC Steakhouse or a local Steak Loft in Alabama? Sides — Asparagus, mushrooms, mashed potatoes, and mac & cheese. Large portions, can easily serve two/three people each. Good and properly seasoned. Desserts: The cheese cake was very good as was their homemade ice cream. They do get an extra A+ for their large selection of freshly brewed teas and the option of having the milk steamed for your coffee. The Steak: My big issue — as clearly the reason we came here. Two of us ordered the Strip and one the Filet. All way too salty, and I love salt! Should have sent it back, shame on us for not doing so, but we too hungry. Never thought I would see the day my husband asked for Ketchup(he said the sweetness of the Ketchup cut the taste of the salt) We did share our concers with the waiter — his response — «I hear that a lot.» Really? Well how about mentioning that to your chef? Just a suggestion. For the $$$$ we paid, we expected great steak and were clearly disappointed. Won’t be back.

Great NYE dinner at V&A’s. I hadn’t been to any of the chain and wasn’t sure what to expect, but they’d take a same-day reservation for 6 on NYE, so they passed the test. I also liked that they offer the typical beef and chops in the $ 40 – 48 range(slightly lower than most other NYC steakhouses, like former tenant Angelo & Maxies, though the space is now considerably more sheek), but also a few items in the $ 20 – 30 range if anyone in the group balked at a big boy steak. The wine list also had some good riojas under $ 50(in addition to plenty of «expense account bottles»). The bartender understood the meaning of a steakhouse pour and was not cheap with the drinks at the bar, also giving us complementary onion rings and mixed nuts. I didn’t balk, and the ribeye was phenomenal, even by steakhouse standards. Great char, great flavor, cooked right. The creamed spinach was overly creamy and potentially dangerous before a night out; the risotto was a nice change but just ok, however the hash browns were awesome. Caesar salad good but strong anchovy flavor if that puts anyone off; the tomato & mozz was massive!

My friend suggested that we have dinner at Vic & Anthony’s for NYC Restaurant Week and I have to admit, I was skeptical. First, my impression is always that Restaurant Week menus are lame and limited, along with the fact that I thought Vic & Anthony’s was going to be Vegas-tacky. That being said, I am so glad I went along because I really enjoyed my meal here and had a wonderful overall experience. Vic & Anthony’s was apparently recently renovated and they have an impressively beautiful space. You walk past a glamorous bar area into a swank, luxuriously appointed dining room. A mixed crowd of businesspeople, couples and tourists fills the tables. I thought service was friendly and relaxed but attentive. The menu at Vic & Anthony’s presents a typical steakhouse offering along with a few other mixed options though clearly red meat is the reason to come here. The wine menu is mind-bogglingly long and varied but it presents a wide price range and even a few interesting choices by the glass. To start, my friend and I went with mixed drinks(which I ended up sticking with through dinner). Vic & Anthony’s can make a mean Ketel One martini only made better since it’s served in a glass the size of my head(thank you!). My friend and I both went with the Restaurant Week menu which, though limited, presented excellent options. I started with an iceberg wedge salad which was excellent and topped with crumbled gorgonzola, bacon and blue cheese dressing. A salty, crunchy start which I loved. For the main, I went with a strip steak which came out served atop a huge portion of mashed potatoes. The steak was also huge and prepared just the way I asked for it(medium-rare) and what a decadent cut of meat it was. It was juicy and flavorful, with very little fat. Dessert was a piece of cheesecake topped with berries which wasn’t all that memorable, but we were already in a state of euphoria from the first two courses. I can safely say this meal was worth every penny, especially when you’re getting such a great deal for Restaurant Week. Even without the set discounted menu, I would go back to Vic & Anthony’s just based on my high-quality experience there and the overall excellent service and food we received.
